  1. Any welding shop should have what you need. It's not much different than copper pipe soldering, just hotter with closer fitting joints. We use it a lot at work. The term "silver solder" is somewhat of a misnomer... the process in which it's used is more brazing than soldering. To be somewhat technical about it... soldering, brazing, and welding differ by temperature and the amount of diffusion in the joint. Soldering is low temp (<~850 deg F) and there's little to no diffusion in the joint. Brazing is mid temp (~900 < x < 2100 F), doesn't melt the substrates but does involve some diffusion. Welding is high temp (~>2200 F), melts the substrates and has a lot of diffusion.
  2. All summer long... It'll either get a lot better in November, or a lot worse.
  3. To my knowledge, the big thing with epoxy floors is to follow the instructions to the letter. Don't use the box store crap, get a good quality system and expect to pay for it. The floor must be very, very clean and you must etch the concrete prior to application. Then let it dry for several days before using it. A light color (white) is best for lighting, but obviously shows dirt the most. Adding a little flake can help with that. Don't get black... it makes it really hard to find little stuff you drop.
  4. That's because they're of the generation who wasn't allowed to carry one in school. I'm of the generation who's teachers occasionally asked to borrow my pocket knife. That said, I carry a Leatherman Blast. When my old one broke, I told my wife to get me the smallest one she could find with both pliers and scissors. I use those far more often than the blade.
  5. This. And I wonder if he carried it in a holster, or just loose in his pocket? I also wonder if he's ever cleaned out the lint trap in his clothes dryer.
  6. Dad drives his church bus and a CDL is required because the bus holds 25 passengers. A 15 passenger van isn't technically a "bus" and a CDL is not required, unless it's for a school. http://www.tn.gov/safety/driverlicense/cdlalt.shtml That said... the CDL and HCP are unrelated.
  7. Ah. Shows how much I pay attention...
  8. Good that DSA was helpful. I've found their customer service folks nice, if not always completely forthcoming with details. There have been some serious administration issues on falfiles somewhat recently. I seem to recall my approval there being automatic, though that was several years ago. I also recall it not taking my gmail account. I had to use my work email to get approved, the switched it back afterwards. No idea why. You should still be able to search via google and find what you need. If you'd like, I can PM a mod on your behalf.
  9. Dang it! I hadn't looked at the County Comm site for a while. Now I've seen all the cool stuff they've added! I predict my wife may be annoyed with me.
  10. Exactly. Peyton may be a better QB, but Eli is on a better team. Personally, I don't understand how the Colt's GM still has a job. In a game that's overrun with career ending injuries, what sort of idiot builds a team that's so completely dependent on ONE player for success? No one is invulnerable, even the golden child. Annoying as he may be, I also think the Bronco's will be remiss to unload Tebow. Don't count your chickens...
  11. Mine too.
  12. This. My guess is his wife decided Denver is where she wants to raise the kiddies. His velocity is down and if he can't throw hard, he's got nuthin. I just hope he doesn't pull a Favre. I think he'll make a good assistant coach. He's not mean enough to be a head coach.
  13. Old iron.... Garand, 1903, K98 sniper, 1911, Colt revolvers, etc. A few MG's would be fun too.
  14. .22 mag has become more common with these new revolvers that shoot it. Still not real common, but readily available. It's makes a bigger bang than a .22LR, but nothing of great consequence.
  15. Welcome!
  16. Sorry to hear, condolences to everyone involved.
  17. Thanks to all, I had a great time as well. Thanks especially to Ian for host all us hooligans and ferrying folks up and down the hill. Everyone was very generous in letting anyone shoot anything. Got to shoot a few things I've never shot before, which is always fun. And yes, the .308 Saiga.... awesome! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!... I think it was louder than the tannerite. Mike bump firing the AK was pretty impressive too. Hopefully next time it'll be a little drier... that'll make getting out considerably easier. I was a tad worried about Mike. When in doubt, GAS IT! On to the pics...
  18. It's most like an SA58, that's what they sell. Call DSA to verify. I know there's away to look at it and tell, but I can't remember at the moment. If it's the typical Belgian combo flash hider, it's left-hand threaded and may be brazed on. You'll need a good barrel vise and likely a torch to get it off. Everything there is to know FAL related is here: http://www.falfiles.com/forums/index.php
  19. I'm also about 15 minutes away and it's pouring. Though it does look like only this one band of rain so I'll plan to head over once it passes. I also have a folding table I'll bring.
  20. Ok to carry with HCP in state/national parks, even if posted. The law change to allow carry did not require signage be changed. Though I believe while you can carry on park property, you cannot carry inside a properly posted building in a park. City/county parks are far more confusing as they may or may not have opted out, regardless of signage.
  21. What rear right have you got on the 552?
