  1. Ok. My wife doesn't get to complain that I eat weird things from time to time. Brie and limburger?... none for me, thanks. My father-in-law likes to get a tall glass of buttermilk, mash a biscuit or two into it, and drink it.
  2. As long at it's readable, I wouldn't sweat it.
  3. Not a smart place to be camping, but glad it worked out for them.
  4. Yep. Rocks and BB's here. I used to scare the squirrels off Mom's bird feeders when I was a kid. When I got a little older, I upgraded to a .22.
  5. Heh... the folks at AIM must be watching. I swear that wasn't on the 7.62x54R page 5 minutes ago. Now it's there.
  6. Link? I only see the usual spam cans and Privi stuff....
  7. I double up with earmuffs over foam plugs. I've never had any issues hearing range commands. I'd look for a minimum of 22dB reduction. More is better merrier, IMO.
  8. Snazzy looking race gun. You need to engrave some sort of logo in the slide opposite the ejection port.
  9. Looks good. Needs wood.
  10. Quigley! How could I forget that one? It's fantastic. A Quigley rifle is on my list...
  11. Sounds like a cool idea. I'd draw it out to scale and lay out where everything will be before doing much physical work. If you're thinking of IDPA, steel challenge, and/or 3 gun type stuff... some planning should help considerably.
  12. Fishing with a firearm?

If you don't have a carry permit, all firearms must be unloaded with ammo stored separately. You don't have notify anyone unless you have NFA items. If you have NFA items, I believe you have to notify the BATF, your current sheriff's dept, and your destination's sheriff's dept (I think). http://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/tncode/
  16. An 18 year old kid who hit the beach at Normandy is 86 years old today. Thank you for your service.
  17. I enjoy a good western too, though it seems you've already seen everything I like. Josey Wales is probably my favorite... most all Eastwood's movies. Blazing Saddles runs a close 2nd. Unforgiven, Tombstone, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, McClintock!, Hang 'em High, The Cowboys, Dances with Wolves, Maverick, ...
  18. Do you intend to make a business out of it, or just for personal use?
  19. Given that he's Border Patrol, I hope that was his backup gun.
  20. Heh, my wife is the exact opposite. She'll lock me out of the house when I'm working in the yard. I have to get my hidden key so I can pee. Yep. My dog would (and does) go completely bonkers when someone unknown comes in the house. Even after we've told her to hush a dozen times.
  21. As a general rule, the AR will be more accurate than the AK. I believe Stag is your best bet for lefty AR's. A friend has one and really likes it. There will be little cost difference between a budget AR and a converted Saiga. I shot a .308 Saiga a while back... it was awesome, though the neighbors didn't much care for it. The .308 will cost about twice as much to shoot as a 5.56. The real bargain is an AK74.
  22. I'd much rather break the gun than my pelvis or ribs.
  23. Welcome!
  24. Going to the ER sucks, glad you're feeling better. I learned a trick to getting quick service in and ER from a friend.... bleed on them. My friend was being dumb and fell. His hand hit a curb causing a compound dislocation of his pinky finger... mean it didn't actually break the bone, just separated the joint causing part of the bone to poke through the skin. So we took him to the local ER, which was pretty busy. He walked up to the front desk, took the towel off his hand, stuck it in the nurse's face and said... "Can you fix this?" She was rather startled and when she noticed the blood dripping on her paperwork, she said... "Just go in that room!" He walked in and got fixed right up. We could tell that several people in the waiting room were thinking...WTF! I've been sitting here for an hour!
  25. What settings are you using? Do your print-outs really need to be "top quality"? My printer at home stays set to "fast draft" quality. While not publication quality, they're perfectly fine for my purposes. It think it uses less than half the ink per page as "normal".
