If all you intend it for is skeet/trap, I'd get the O/U. You rarely see any competitive shooters using a semi-auto. I assume there's a reason for that.

What they said. A normal round goes BANG! A squib round goes pop. It's obvious when it happens. A semi-auto won't cycle.

I guess I'm the other guy that does the DVD version. We've had it for years and really liked it. We watched lots of movies before we had kids. We've cut it back to 1 at a time now as we rarely have a 2 hours free to watch a movie that isn't made by Disney or Pixar.

Heh... that's happened to me too. My wife walked out of the laundry room and handed me a .45 round and said "You might want this back, it's nice and clean now. Should I be scared?" It took me a minute to realize I'd been shooting several days before and obviously left it in my pocket. I don't really know why I put it there in the first place. I assured her that the dryer doesn't get nearly hot enough to cook off a round. I put the round back in the box and it must have fired, because I don't recall having a dud in a long time. My pistols all have "2nd strike" capability, so my reaction to a misfire is simply to pull the trigger again. I can only recall that happening once with some old milsurp ammo. It fired the 2nd time. If it still doesn't go off, I'll eject the round and carry on. I've never experienced a hangfire.

I try to follow the rules to the most of the time, however there are a few rules that I disagree with.... Spike marks... why can't you tap down spike marks? That's just dumb. Granted, soft spike shoes have reduced the problem trememdously, but still. Ball that stops in a divot in the fairway. I consider that "ground under repair" and think you should be able to move it. As an amateur playing municipal courses, I refuse to accept a penalty for hitting my ball in the fairway. Repeated stroke-and-distance for OB. First ball OB = stroke and distance. 2nd ball OB = just go drop one. I also think some of the other rules about replacing balls and such shouldn't apply to amateurs as well.

Should be interesting to see how it turns out. I'd love to see the weather shake things up a bit.

I think you have an interesting niche, and Chattanooga is a good choice for it. My only suggestion is that you might consider pushing your era up another 40 years or so and include cowboy action stuff. While I'm not personally involved (yet), it seems pretty popular and looks like a lot of fun.

I bet you're the type whose finger prints rust bare metal in a few hours. A machinist I used to work with was that way. He had to wear gloves all the time otherwise his fingerprints would rust the tooling, even black oxided stuff.

Most of those in the links above don't look much different than a "real" gun belt to my (male fashion sensed) eye. At $65, a "real" gun belt isn't that much more expensive. Beltman's belts have "chicago" screws holding the buckle on. They're easy to remove. The nylon belts work fine for some people. I think it depends on how tight your belt normally is. I don't like my belt real tight, so the extra stiffness of the double layer leather helps. Seems like it would be pretty easy to add embellishments to a plain leather gun belt so it suits your style.

Probably. Mostly a money grab on their part I suspect. I'm sure they'll claim that it's to minimize the time it's in their possession. Mostly I was just pointing out that it is legal to ship your gun to yourself in another state (care of someone else) without involving an FFL holder.

The Russians will (continue to) sell weapons to Syria, but I doubt you'll see Russian troops involved. The Russians can't afford war both monetarily and politically. I hope we don't get involved, but I'm curious how far it will go before the court of world opinion demands the global police force (aka, the US military) do something.

I've always heard 1 gallon per person per day.... that's 4 liters. You might be able to survive on 1 liter per day short term, but that'd be the bare minimum and certainly not when it's hot. If you've got other forms of food with a reasonably high moisture content, you can get a significant amount of water that way too. If you're using your water supply to rehydrate food, I think 1 liter would be gone in a blink. Water isn't real hard to find and a purification system is a must.

I believe it's mostly an issue with older battle rifles. The main point being, we simply don't know whether the old 7.62 NATO guns can handle .308. Guys are unwilling to risk blowing up their rare, expensive toys to find out. New stuff should be designed to handle .308. And as Murgatroy said, there's lots of speculation. Personally, I'm not convinced that the difference in headspace makes any real difference. There may be some effect on accuracy and cycling (for semi-auto's) but that's never been proven conclusively in my mind. You can find instances where small changes made a difference on individual rifles, but to apply that across the board is quite a stretch. I'm also not convinced the pressures really are different. The pressure value for 7.62 NATO was converted from the old system that was notoriously inconsistent and inaccurate. So are the pressures really different? There's probably a few people who work for the ammo companies that know, but they're not allowed to talk about it.
