  1. Ditto, except I use the Winchester version. Technically, it's my home defense gun and not my carry gun (which is a .45 because everyone knows it's better ) but I figure it's still applicable.
  2. How could I forget the Hunley? Very cool indeed.
  3. I think that should be plenty of rounds for it to be broken in. If switch lubes doesn't work, I'd dig deeper into the gas system.
  4. I can't imagine you'd be prosecuted for killing a nuisance animal... especially a coyote. "But officer, it growled and snarled at me in a very threatening manner. I saw it do that very clearly through my 10x scope before I fired..."
  5. Do they braze/solder flash hiders on AR's? Penetrating oil soak followed by heating with a torch. In the excitement of it breaking loose, don't try to spin it off with your hand...
  6. What he said. It's kinda small and likely not rigid enough for precision work. If you can get it running for a few more $$, it might be a stepping stone to something a little bigger.
  7. How many rounds through it? A friend had a similar problem with a brand new upper and Tula ammo. It was simply not broken in yet. A little oil and few hundred rounds and it's worked fine since.
  8. In addition to the letter Dolomite suggested you send, you should also inform the local chamber of commerce, county commission, etc. that the Sheriff's unwillingness to perform a task he's legally obligated to do means you will not open a business in his jurisdiction. No cooperation = no tax revenue. Hit 'em where it hurts, in the wallet. http://www.morgancountytn.org/commissioners.htm http://morgancountychamber.com/board.html
  9. Always neat wandering around those old ships. I was in Houston on business and had a little time to kill before my flight so I checked out the Battleship Texas. If you're ever in Charleston, gotta check out the Yorktown as well. http://www.patriotspoint.org/
  10. Cool.
  11. Time. There's stuff I want, but what good is the stuff when you rarely ever have time to enjoy it? Time to go do whatever you want with whomever you want.
  12. Never heard of that. I changed my address online and requested a new DL only. I kept the print-out with my HCP until it was time to renew, which was legal per the instructions at the time (3-4 years ago).
  13. You already mentioned Unaka. In addition there's http://cherokeerodandgunclub.com/ and http://www.wrgunclub.webs.com/ and maybe even http://www.greenecou...s.com/index.htm
  14. This is the hitch. Swapping out the chambered barrel isn't a big deal, assuming you swap springs too. The firing/feed/extraction mechanism won't work switching from centerfire to rimfire.
  15. The trouble with literal translations of the Bible is that they were transcribed and translated by people. Those people may or may not have had an agenda and the opportunity to "spin it" as they saw fit. And people are fallible, they make mistakes. Translations aren't exact, often times innuendo or nuance can be misinterpreted. The Bible can be viewed a history book, and as we all know, history is written by the victors.
  16. I keep mine closed simply to keep dust/dirt out of the action. And also so my fingers don't get mashed should I grab one in the wrong place or bump it and have it slam shut. I doubt it has any significant effect on the springs. As stated above, it's cyclic fatigue that degrades a spring, not static load.
  17. Agreed. Regarding the big bang, I found this to be exactly what it's intended to be, a very interesting thought experiment. http://nowscape.com/godsdebris.pdf I also heard something very interesting on (of all places) the Free Beer & Hot Wings radio show yesterday morning. They were discussing Bill Nye's recent statements about creationism. A caller made a comment to the effect of the following (I don't remember the exact words), which I found quite intriguing.... He said there is no concrete time scale at the beginning of the Bible. Earth may have been created in 7 days, but how long was a day? We don't really know. After that, how long did Adam spend in the Garden of Eden before God created Eve? How long did the two of them live before they bit the apple and were cast out into the world? Could've been days, could've been billions of years....
  18. Exactly. Why is that so hard for people to understand?
  19. His music isn't exactly my style, but he's a fantastic performer.
  20. If a kid without a disability was named Hunter, would they make him change his name? I doubt it. Sounds like discrimination to me. While "zero tolerance" may be (a really stupid) school policy, discrimination is against federal law. I'm sure this school will be hearing from a disability law attorney. edit... looks like they already have. http://www.1011now.com/home/headlines/School-District-Says-Deaf-Student-Not-Required-to-Change-Name-167784235.html
  21. This. Don't burn any bridges but neither expect nor give any undue loyalty. Heard the saying "there's no honor among thieves?" Experience has taught me it applies directly to the vast majority of the corporate world.
  22. We had a contract guy here do exactly that. He got an offer for a permanent position elsewhere about 3 weeks into his stint here. He was gone the next day. We were bummed as he seemed quite knowledgeable, but nothing else we could do.
