Fixed link: http://www.neighsayersforum.com/atfletters/09-0502,%20reply%20to%20922r%20general%20%28redacted%29.pdf From point 1 I get that literally anyone (individual or business) can be considered an "assembler". I feel sure they used the word "assembler" specifically to be distinguished from a "manufacturer". It specifically does not say "licensee", which I think is intentional. From point 2 I get that it's not a crime to possess a non-compliant firearm, but it is a crime to build one (see point 1). It appears to clearly state that there is no legal issue with owning or transferring a non compliant weapon between unlicensed individuals. However, the letter doesn't address it specifically, but I would infer that once you've identified non-compliance, you might be obligated to fix it. I think the whole thing may be somewhat moot, as I've never heard of any individual being charged. I suspect this would be considered "secondary enforcement" meaning they only care if they've already caught you doing something more significant.... just another charge to pile on.

Very interesting. I have always been under the impression that 922r applied regardless. Note that the quoted text above begins with... "It shall be unlawful for any person to assemble..." Care to link those AG/ATF letters? It's not that I don't believe you... just as Mr. Reagan once said... "Trust, but verify." I'll actually be a bit annoyed if this really is the case because it means I've wasted a fair bit of on compliance. All the US made parts I bought are stamped "US". Which isn't to say that the Chinese couldn't stamp "US" on stuff too.

Winner! When I saw people lined up out the door and down the sidewalk to pay $3 for a single, normal sized cupcake... that's all I needed to know. I avoid the whole area like the plague.

Simple, it's in Turkey Creek. There's something about that place that makes people not care that everything costs 20% more.

First afternoon out carrying.

Congrats! As Dolomite said, most people wouldn't notice if you were on fire, much less that you're carrying. -
All I can offer is thoughts and prayers. I've seen what cancer can do. She's young, strong, and still has a positive attitude. Hang in there.

Very true. Sometimes it can be difficult to see the forest through all the trees.

Leave the gun, take the OC spray.

Nice.

Got pics of the holes? Good close-ups. I'm curious.

A friend had an ingenious way of dealing with such things. For him, it was motorcycle parts and the conversations typically went like this... Him - Hey hon', I bought a new exhaust for the bike. Her - Oh yeah, how much was it? Him - $1800 Her - WHAT!?!? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR F__ING MIND?!?! Him - Calm down, I'm kidding. It was only $900. Her - Oh.... well... I guess that's ok. He said he learned that it didn't matter if it was $500 or $5000, she'd always get pissed at the amount. But if he made it appear as though it was a good deal, the actual amount suddenly didn't matter so much.

Get that chronograph. It's the best way to know for sure what you've got. -

Been there, had stuff stolen. My wife left her car unlocked at her parents' house a couple years ago. Lost our radar detector, multi-tool, phone charger. I was just glad they didn't damage the car. I think one of the neighbors had security cameras and got photos, but we never heard anything from the police. Reminds me that I really need to do a video inventory of the house and review my home owner's coverage.

Agreed. Neat stuff but $10 to ship a $20 item?

That poor, poor Garand.

I too started out with the cheap stuff. Then I discovered micro/craft brews.... mmmmmm. The "pick 6" at the grocery store is genius! Why drink 6 of the same beers when you can have 6 different ones? This is my favorite beer time of year... all the fall seasonal brews and Octoberfest stuff, it's great! Edit... and I've converted my wife too. Years ago she hated beer. I found a couple craft beers with a chocolatey taste and that was all it took. Our tastes are pretty similar though I like darker stuff, as long as it's not bitter.

If you've got kids, get a couple small, single LED flashlights. I was reminded last night how much fun kids can have with something as simple as a flashlight in the dark.

That's awesome. I need to get my boys out fishing.

Wow! I never would've guess you could fit that much in such a small bag. Impressive!

Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

Agreed, but I think your numbers are a bit optimistic. $100M lottery... Lump sum payment is about half.. ~ $50M less 40% income taxes = ~ $30M in your pocket. Which is still a huge amount of money. There are some people who will spend every penny they've got regardless of how much that is. I recall reading somewhere that people's spending habits are pretty well fixed by 18 yrs of age. Savers will be savers and spenders will be spenders regardless of how much (or little) either one has.

Supercavitating Underwater Bullets - AMAZING!!!

Its the pressure wave that's doing the work. The heat is a byproduct of the near instant change in pressure. The energy from the sudden, large pressure reduction is dissipated as heat. On a microscopic scale, yes the temp gets quite high. But the duration of the high temp is so short and given the mass of the fluid, there's very little bulk heating. -
The "zombie" bees have a parasite that eats them from the inside out. The bug injects it's eggs into the bee. When the eggs hatch inside the bee, they begin to eat it. Kinda like Alien. The population of honey bees is dropping dramatically. Please don't kill them for laughs. Kill all the wasps and yellow jackets you like, just leave the honey bees... well, be.

Right, think rocket torpedoes. A sub launched missile is ejected in a similar fashion. It goes through the water surrounded by a pocket of air.
