1. Interesting. Two guys well over $300k and a handful of others in the $150k-$180k range. They do maintain offices in some high rent areas (NYC, DC, Chicago, ...) that may justify some of the salaries. The executive listing covers about $2M of the $4.7M they claim as admin costs. The pie graph seems to make it pretty clear that while some salaries may be higher than we think they should be, the bulk is going where it should. In a quick scan of their financials, nothing really jumps out at me as being way out of line. It's hard to find people with the skills to run a business that size who will work for peanuts.
 2.
Is that why he labels himself "Arrogant Bastard" under his Logo/Avatar? Actually I just posted a bunch of super close up detailed pic of the Locking Shoulder situation and he seemed to make some spot-on observations.
Yes, very much so. He's an ass, but he's the best.
 3. How long do $100 boots last for you and what wears out first? If you wear the soles out but the upper is still in decent shape, the Redwings can be resoled and will last a long time. If you kill the uppers, they'll still last longer than cheap boots. You also have to consider the weight and comfort. If you wear them all day, every day, that makes a big difference long term.
 4.
May I suggest reporting the stray to the dog catcher, repeatedly. They will then get the dog, and fine the neighbor. Report it as aggressive. Different situation, but yes, there is responsibility of the owner to keep the dog leeshed or behind a fence. Again, your situation is different, your dog is a large, aggressive dog, this was a puppy, not likely to bite, or be a threat (I guess the guy could have tripped over it?) It seems, seems, like the shooter was angry the neighbor ignored him...
In response to 101... this. If you live in the county where there isn't a specific animal control division, call the sheriff's dept.
 5. There's been bounties on coyotes in various places in VA for several years.
 6.
Interesting. I donate to WWP through my company's charitable giving program. I'm going to do some research into this and, if confirmed, I'm switching my money elsewhere.
Please share your findings.
 7.
I didn't see any dirt or fouling in the barrel but when I used a qtip in the bore the cosmoline was a little black so sometime in its past it was fired
Meh, I wouldn't sweat it. Run a few patches down the bore if you're so inclined. I take care of my stuff, but I'm not OCD about cleaning every little spec of dirt. It's a milsurp, it likely saw a lot worse long before you got it and survived. What is it anyway?
 8.
but is just the lube/cleaner and patches enough after the cosmoline is fully remove or do I need a bore brush and more ?
Oh. Removing the cosmoline won't remove copper/lead fouling in the barrel. I'd scrub it with brushes only if there's considerable fouling. Otherwise the usual patches of solvent & oil are fine. Shoot it and see what you get. Some guns shoot better clean, most shoot better a little dirty.
 9.
After I get all the cosmoline out can I just use some cleaner/lube and some patches to clean and lube it or do I need more than that?
Generally yes, but it depends on what you're shooting. If it's something like a mosin or mauser with corrosive ammo, the trick is to use windex immediately after shooting. The ammonia in the windex neutralizes the corrosive salts in the ammo. Once you've done that, then "normal" cleaning is all that's necessary.
 10. Wow. I'll mark him off my list. The Falfiles group won't steer you wrong. If the l/s hole is as oversize as it looks, that's a tough one to fix. I have a "box-o-FAL" that I've yet to get around to putting together. I intend to do it myself, made my own receiver wrench and such.
 11. I seem to recall a couple of the bigger schools out west doing something similar with paint balls. I know from experience that paint balls hurt like h_ll up close. Based on the web site, looks like most of what they do is airsoft. Simunition requires a conversion kit for semi-auto's to operate properly. I wouldn't think this place keeps kits for such a wide variety of guns on hand.
 12.
Isn't that the point of much of this horse s**t anyway? Isn't it so "unfair" for the U.S. to have so much while much of the rest of the world has so little (even though they have so little because of their own actions)???
Exactly. Just wait until the Chinese start sharing their pollution.
I invented pants. But seriously, even "green" technology is based on the use of fossil fuels. Take, for example, an electric car. Where does the electricity come from? In many areas it comes from plants that burn fossil fuels. "Green" technology is not "green", unless green represents money.
FTW! Saving the world will never be popular until it's profitable. Such is the world we live in.
 13. I've been on the lookout for a small pouch to carry the spare mag for my P3AT. I was in Cincinnati for work the other day and had a little time to kill so I stopped in BassPro. While wandering around I happened to see these little pouches. http://www.basspro.com/RedHead-Knife-and-Tool-Sheaths/product/104622/ I noticed that not only do they have the normal belt loop for vertical orientation, they also have loops for horizontal orientation. I tried one with my 1.5" belt in the store and it fit fine both ways. The smallest one looked about the right size for the mag and for $4, I figured why not. Got it home and it fits perfectly. Now I wish I'd gotten a larger one too. Just thought I'd share.
 14. Cool. Reminds me of this...
 15. I've thought about trying to recover some seeds from my garden, but never bothered. I know a few folks who do it, but I'd have to read up on what's necessary.
 16. Here I sit, on the verge of starvation, having not had breakfast since I'm having my cholesterol checked in about an hour, and you post this? What did I ever do to deserve such maltreatment? Why do you hate me?
 17. Welcome!
 18.
This guy up at the University of Michigan did a series of maps in 2008, and he's now updated them for 2012. He starts with the basic Red State Blue State, then starts distorting the map to allow for population density. Then he shows the red counties vs blue counties layout, and then distorts that map based on population density. Then lastly he uses color gradients (blue/purple/red) to show how split we really are. Even in the "deeply red" and "deeply blue" sections of the country, we are split more than you'd think. Fascinating stuff. http://www-personal..../election/2012/
Very interesting how this.... Translates into this because of population density...
 19.
I have not tried it, but I have heard of using an ultrasonic cleaner on suppressors (even sealed ones).
Some ultrasonics will erode aluminum (and any other relatively soft metal). It depends on the power of the ultrasonic source and the time you leave it in the cleaner.
I'd definitely be open to cleaner options but I'm just not that familiar with blasters. How much do they run and what else can they be used for?
The best blast cabinet to have is someone else's. You can get a small one for $150-$200. They're useful for cleaning all sorts of things... rusty parts, caked on gunk, etc. They're also handy for paint prep. They're very messy... the media goes everywhere. Anything you blast must not be greasy/oily. It takes a big air compressor to run it.
 20. Good news at a time when we all could use some, yay!
 21.
I never was very good at chemistry....organic II was almost the death of me. Pressure washer might be difficult. The logistics of that operation might prove to be challenging.
I assumed you could disassemble the suppressor and clean the pieces. If you can't, I'd just soak it in very hot soapy water or a mild solution of something like simple green.
 22. Having never been pregnant, it's difficult to make a recommendation. Congrats, btw! I agree with the above that pocket or off-body carry is probably best. I'm not a fan of shoulder holsters. Belt carry won't really work as most maternity pants don't have belt loops... maybe she hasn't gotten that far yet, but she will be sooner than you think. A belly band might work early on, but as she gets bigger concealment will be near impossible.
 23. While looking for something else, I found this. I have a small stainless flask that I use on rare occasions. These look useful for a variety of purposes, but the topic of this thread is what first came to mind. Says it holds 5 shots but it sure looks larger than that. I've found 7.5 oz capacity listed elsewhere. Seems a typical metal flask is in the 6-8 oz range so these are comparable. http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/ea57/?srp=3
 24. Didn't think of that, but it could be the humidifier was well. I'd call the installer and have then come look at it. It shouldn't smell at all, especially if it's got an air scrubber. That's the whole point, to eliminate odors and particulates.
