Gee.... cheap gun cabinets don't work quite as well as 10x more expensive safes.  There's a shocker.   I know full well that the cabinets I have provide near zero security from a skilled theif or fire.  But they do keep my kids out, and that's all I intend them for.

I did mine at the DMV and it took 15 minutes.  Would have been 10 but the lady that did it had never done one before and had to ask for help.

  I didn't mean to imply it was a bad thing.  I'm quite pleased that so many business owners decided to voice their opinion in such a strong way.

    While I'm not a big REM fan, I do like this song.  This sounds like the Disney version.  :-\   Being a metal/blues fan, most anything in a major key sounds like a kids song to me.

At the end of the day, nothing inside a modern (wood & sheet rock) house is "cover" with the exception of a big gun safe.

    Yep.  Our house had a finished basement.  There was a room downstairs where the vent when straight up to my sister's room.  Great place to do a little spy work and learn a bit about adolescent blackmail.  :)

I've looked into it a bit.  My conclusion is that its only worth doing if you're certain you'll be in the same house for at least 10 years (rough payback period).  Electricity is very cheap here compared to the northeast and especially CA which makes it less financially viable.
