  1.     +1 to that.  My 2yr old and 4 yr old keep me plenty busy.  While I'd love to have a big family, caring for a mess of little ones would be a lot of work.
  2.         Based on that site, you're looking at $1500-ish for the billet.  While machining titanium isn't especially hard, it is very, VERY slow.  To fully machine an AR receiver from a billet would take days.  Say 40 hrs @ $100/hr... $4000 in machine time.  You'd probably burn up $1000+ in end-mills.  Assuming you've already got the various jigs and gauges necessary, it would be very expensive.  $8000 easy.  $10,000 if you wanted to make money.
  3. Got this and love it, though it'll be for sale in the spring.... ... because I've moved on to this. Not exactly fast, but lots of fun. 80 mpg is nice too.
  4. What these guys are saying.  The barrel isn't timed properly.  And while it fires, I'll also guess its not been head spaced correctly either.  I wouldn't shoot it anymore until it's resolved.  FAL's are not like AR's and they're not like other bolt guns.  If a gunsmith did that, he/she didn't know what they were doing.  Taking it back to that person isn't likely to net you anything.   Yes, a barrel vise and receiver wrench are required at a minimum to fix it.  Alignment (timing) tools are also quite helpful.  Here's a good overview of how one is built...   http://www.cruffler.com/trivia-April01-background.html
  5. We still have the raving lunatic that is this dog. My wife couldn't resist a very sick puppy at the shelter 11 years ago. She was looney then, and still is now.
  6.         That said, I don't think they should use any religious book.  Whatever happened to separation of church and state?
  7. Pocket, IWB, or OWB?  I use a Desantis Nemesis for pocket carry.  I have a Galco somethingorother for IWB carry.
  8. Cool.  Read about them, never actually seen one.
  9. Nice of you to schedule that on my birthday.

    RC Truck

I'll revive this to say thanks to all for the advice and thanks to xdshooter for the trucks.  The boy and I have had a ball with them!   I was really disappointed because the weather around Christmas was terrible here.... 35-40 deg, rainy, windy... :yuck: .  The 4 year old didn't care.  We bundled him up, charged up the batteries, and he drove them until it got dark and I made him quit.  Same thing the next day, the wind nearly knocked him down a couple times, but he didn't complain at all.  Then we took them to grandma & grandpa's for a few days.  The weather was a little nicer there and he learned that they don't go so well in knee deep leaves.  :)   His hand is a bit small for the controller.  He can hold it normally and drive it forward, but his fingers aren't long enough to drive it backwards.  So he just switches hands and doesn't really miss a beat.  He's gotten pretty good with it though he still treats the throttle like an on/off switch.  Fun fun.
  11. Sounds like you need to find another doc.  I recently passed the threshold of high cholesterol and my doc provided lots of information on diet and exercise.  He's also a fairly young guy who works for a living and has 4 young children so he understands that while the "only 30 mins/day" exercise thing sounds easy, in practice it isn't.   Have a look at at this... http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/public/heart/chol/chol_tlc.pdf   It's certainly not rocket science, but some good basic info.
  12. Another Desantis Nemesis.  Works fine.
  13. Been there, done that.  My wife's doc told me they'd just open me an account so I could use the refund amount for "future expenses".  It was a massive PITA to deal with.  I finally got on the phone with one of the doctor's office fiance people.  Once she understood the situation, she was accommodating and I had my refund promptly.  I asked why it was so difficult up to that point and she didn't have an answer.
  14. So true it shouldn't be funny, but it is anyway.
  15.     If the relationship means that little to both of you, why are you married?   Please don't have children.
  16. Mostly I hate that he's associated with Tennessee.  Can we disown him?
  17. Al-Jazeera USA TV?  Thanks Al, thanks a lot.  Anything for a buck I guess.  He's got to pay that big electric bill somehow.   :shake:   http://tv.yahoo.com/news/pan-arab-al-jazeera-buys-current-tv-al-091145972--finance.html
  18. Welcome!
  19.     Yep.  Running much faster this morning than yesterday.
  20. Just a thought....   If holding out is more fun than doing it, you're doing it wrong.
  21. $450 for a yugo?  Sheesh.  Hope that means mine is worth that now.  The Norinco is fine, assuming it's in good shape.  If you're not hung up on matching numbers, the one with a cracked stock is probably the best value.  As stated, you can find a replacement for it and come out ahead.  Keep your eyes open around there, they come up for sale fairly regularly.   edit... this one for example....  http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/57374-sks-rifle-norinco-excellent/
  22. I'm not 100% sure, but generally guns in 9mm and .40 have the same frame while a .45 has a different frame.    The first thing you need to decide is IWB or OWB carry.  I currently use a crossbreed, but if I could do it again, I'd buy a convertible IWB/OWB holster.... like these... http://www.bestbelt.com/product/gunleather/1329.html   A good gun belt goes a long way with comfort, regardless of location.
  23. Clearly you know very little about marriage and women in general.  Which isn't to say that I understand women, I'm reminded daily that I don't.  However, I do know you're adolescent power play won't end well.
  24.     I've never really been involved in organizing it... the wives do that.  ;)    Generally they just get online and search for a chalet of appropriate size.  There's at least a dozen different rental agencies and literally thousands of chalets in the area.  We've had some nice ones and some pretty crappy ones.  We've taken to making it a 3-day weekend, the extra day is worthwhile.  My biggest gripe is that lots of the agencies won't tell you exactly where the house is until you check in.  That's annoying when you've got people coming from several directions.  We used to stay up on Ski Mtn, but I've successfully lobbied against that.  We spend very little time in Gatlinburg, so why fight the traffic?  And I put my car in a ditch one year when it snowed....  :-\   The folks at Sever Indoor Range have always been very accomodating...  nicest indoor range around, IMO.  Check their website for their class schedule.  You may have to wait a bit if they've got an HCP class that day.  Keep in mind that while it's an indoor range, it's not conditioned.  If it's cold outside, it'll be cold inside.  They have a few space heaters that keep it reasonable.    http://www.sevierindoorrange.com/   http://www.gatlinburgsportsman.com/
  25.     At this point, anything's better than the fiscal cliff, the impending weapons ban legislation, and the resulting supply shortages.
