Does the magnet on the back of my wife's mini-van make it a Humvee?   Ignorant people are everywhere.

        I also have a 4 (nearly 5) year old.  Top of the fridge or bookshelf isn't remotely out of reach.  Ever left the room to pee and come back to find him/her on top of the fridge?  I have.

    Yep.  Our house had a finished basement.  There was a room downstairs where the vent when straight up to my sister's room.  Great place to do a little spy work and learn a bit about adolescent blackmail.  :)

I've looked into it a bit.  My conclusion is that its only worth doing if you're certain you'll be in the same house for at least 10 years (rough payback period).  Electricity is very cheap here compared to the northeast and especially CA which makes it less financially viable. 

    While I didn't run around the woods with them, mostly same here.  That's pretty much the reason why I let my kids see them.  In fact, Dad still doesn't seem to like letting me see his guns.  He's got his grandfather's shotgun.  He doesn't know much about it.  I wanted to see it so I could take some pictures and do a little research.  He wouldn't let me.  :squint:

I'm working on educating my kids (5 & 2).  The older one mostly knows the 4 rules.  I do the "disarm their curiosity" method and try to let the see/handle them any time they ask.    My long guns stay in a locked cabinet with trigger locks installed.  My handguns and the key to the long gun cabinet stay in a pistol safe with electronic keypad lock.

          Try different shades of stain.  Darker stain where its dark and fade that to whatever color you intend for the rest of it.  I saw a write up from a guy who refinished a badly discolored FAL stock.  It was similar to yours in that it was the worst at the butt.  He used black paint and faded it up into the stain on the rest of it.  Ended up looking really cool, though I can't find a pic.   The nagant wood is really is that bad (is it softer there?) or there's still a bit of cosmoline in it.    While I have no issue with refinishing a milsurp that needs it, I prefer not make it look "brand new" when done.  It's an old warhorse, scars give it character.  YMMV.

Relax, it's only been a month.  Mine took 6 weeks and I'd guess there's much higher volume now.

Mud + time will do that.  I'd guess to use the discoloration with the new finish.  Blend it into the undamaged areas with some different colored stains or paint.  I've seen some really cool looking milsurps that were refinished like this.  Gives them "character".

Prices will go back down to where they were eventually, but it'll take a while.  The morons who paid 2x more than they should have won't sell for less unless they asbolutely have to.  And retailers have learned just how high of a price the market will bear.

Great fun!  Go when it's HOT because the water is COLD.  Sneakers, wicking type t-shirt and swim trunks.  Do what the guide says and you'll be fine.

Think real hard about small-of-back carry.  It's not nearly as accessible, secure, or concealable as you think.  It also really, really hurts if you fall on it.... AMHIK.  If that's the only spot you've got room in your pants for the gun, I'd strongly recommend you consider larger pants or OWB.  That said, I have crossbreed and a galco that work pretty well.

    I sure can't top that, but I think you got a helluva deal.

I've got a Ruger P series and a Smith.  Again, the Smith is nicer but the Ruger works just fine and cost a whole lot less.  I'd put the Ruger ahead of the Bersa.    If your intention is to carry it, all 3 are quite heavy. 

    As the others have said, the smart thing to do would be a tactical reload to top the gun off and wait for the cavalary.  Only worry about disarming once they get there.

    Except that when the cop gets there and finds out you've got a gun on your hip, you're gonna do a face plant with a knee in your back and your gun is gonna get tossed anyway.  At the very least they'll make you disarm yourself and put it on the ground, likely at gun point.  Then they'll move in and cuff you.  Hopefully you'll get released in short order, but I seriously doubt the cops will let you remain armed.

Nothing more than a tax.  If the citizens vote to approve it, fine.  But it can't just be imposed on them.   I don't think military service should be compulsory for the average citizen, we pay taxes to maintain a standing army for that.  I do think public service in some capacity (military, police, fire fighter, EMT, etc.) should be a prerequisite for anyone who want to run for public office.
