  1.   If it's simple, the smith might be able to fix it on the spot for less than $40.
  2. Wow. That's quite the durability test.  :shake:   And for the record, you can 3D print the housing and the follower, but not the spring.  So it's not completely 3D printed.
  3.     I've been transplanting bermuda in my yard the last couple years.  I had some very large patches of crabgrass/weeds.  I sprayed them with brush killer and waited about a month.  Then I dug up the bermuda in "square shovels" about 6" deep and planted it in the dead areas.  I took the dirt from the dead areas and filled the holes where I dug up the grass.  I made an effort to water them daily for a couple weeks and they've filled in pretty well.   I did that in mid summer when the bermuda is thriving, I'd do same thing with the zoysia.
  4. Mosin bolts can require a (very) heavy hand even when clean.  Heat and a cordless drill will help with the cleaning process.   Are you putting the round into the chamber or allowing the bolt to feed it in?
  5.     Since when does credit card debt matter to the masses?  If you bought an AR 2 months ago for $1800, would you sell it for $750?  Me neither.   I hope you're right but I think it'll be a long time before prices come down, if ever.
  6. I misread the headline and had Jeff Cooper in my mind....    I was very confused for a minute.
  7.     Good info there, thank you.    I've tried the pre-emergent stuff and it seemed to have zero effect.  But it's possible (even likely) I applied it in the spring rather than the fall, so that may explain the lack of results.  Or I may have used the wrong stuff, it's been several years ago.  I'll try to remember this in the fall.   The chickweed is growing now so I may go ahead and start spraying.  When I get frustrated, I just spray it with brush killer and accept the brown spots.  The bermuda will fill in come summer time anyway.
  8.     Amen.  I've been addressing this with my 5 yr old.  Sometimes life isn't fair.  It's how you deal with it that's important.           IIRC, a B average was required within your course of study to graduate.  If you got a C, it had better be an elective (and there aren't many of those in grad school).
  9. Peace seems to be the expert and in my limited experience, he's right.  The hard part is getting it established and happy (soil testing).  Once you get there, the issue becomes keeping it out of flower beds and such.   Early spring weeds are still a problem.  Henbit for me too and I also try to kill it with 2-4D, though it comes back every year.  I have a large portion of bermuda in my yard and it will choke the weeds out, it just takes until July for it to get there.  I don't fertilize as that just makes the fescue portion grow at an absurd rate.
  10. If you've not been to graduate school, a C can kill the whole thing.  When I was in, B's were the minimum.  If you made a C, they could revoke any scholarship you had and/or kick you out.  You could only re-take classes with the professor's permission.  If he was an arse and didn't like you, you're screwed.  I don't know of that actually happening to anyone.  And don't discount the politics between professors and between professors and students.  I've seen that have an effect as well.    That said, it sure sounds like she earned every bit of that C+.
  11. Here's mine (excuse the crappy phone pic)....
  12.   Don't believe me or ....?
  13. Welcome!
  14.     That was probably 25 years ago (I was in high school), but I still remember it vividly.  We got to meet some of the Russian, Turkish, Iranian, and Iraqi wrestlers.  The US (and other western) wrestlers were very strong and had the classic "California beach" body builder look.  The eastern block guys didn't look like much but were strong as bulls and tough as nails.  I sparred a little with one guy my size and it was like trying to move a stump.  And I'm sure he was just playing with me.    I watched one of the Turkish wrestlers get his shoulder dislocated in a match.  He got up and walked over toward his coach obviously in considerable pain.  The coach grabbed his arm, shoved his shoulder back in, spun him around, and pushed him back out on the mat.   :dropjaw:         That's exactly what I liked about it.  While it's a team sport, it's all about individual effort.  You're out there alone and learn a lot about yourself in the process.   Wrestling has always been big in ETN and NGA.  I grew up in Chattanooga and the competition was always tough.
  15.     I'd love to have a table like that.
  16. As a former wrestler, that's a bummer.  Further proof that money is all that matters these days.    I got to meet and hang out with several Olympic/World Cup wrestlers many years ago.  The power and endurance those guys possess is simply staggering.  I watched a 250 lb Russian wrestler reverse curl 275 lbs.  We were trying to show him power cleans.  Apparently he didn't quite understand as he picked up the bar, reverse curled it, and put it back down.  It appeared effortless for him.  He looked at us with the expression of ...  "Did I do that right?"   We just stared at him and one another, not believing what we'd just seen.
  17.   Step 1: Dig a really deep hole. Step 2: Put bomb in the hole. Step 3: Fill hole back in Step 4: Detonate bomb.   In theory, you've checked the water table before digging the hole and determined that it's much deeper than the hole you need so it doesn't get contaminated.  Also in theory, the blast is contained and doesn't release radioactive material into the air.  I'm sure the North is highly aware of these things and took the appropriate safety measures....
  18.     Let them continue to waste their time and money building it and when they do finally launch one, shoot it down.
  19. I'd do what you suggested.  Return the one to original as best as possible and make a toy of some sort out of the other one.
  20.     Ding!  No big loss, there's much better stuff out there.
  21. So they're nuking themselves?  Um... I'm good with that.           That and $1 will get you a cup of coffee.
  22. Some people just don't get that.  Its a cultural thing in some places.  I try to be friendly, but arms length is close enough.  It's nice to have some sort of physical barrier to keep them from getting too close.   My 5 yr old is that way.  He frequently likes to get right up in my face, inches away.  He's my son, but sometimes its just.... "Ok kiddo, you're breathing my air.  Back up."
  23. Lowes/HD have a wide variety of tool bags with all manner of pockets and pouches.  They're typically quite sturdy but not likely to be made in the US.
  24. Stop by the local building salvage place.  You can get cheap cabinets, counter tops, etc.  Sometimes you can find unfinished stuff can you can stain/paint to match the rest of the decor.   Otherwise HD/Lowes sell inexpensive white stuff that works fine and can be pieced together.  Cabinets work great because they have doors/drawers.  You can pack all your stuff inside and then shut the doors so it looks neat.  Use a lazy susan in the corner.  Use under-cabinet lights for good surface lighting.  Run a power strip under the bench surface so cords stay out of the way.  Make sure the bench surface is plenty stiff and braced so you can bolt a vice to it.
