Sounds like you solved it. For future needs, I know a guy in Oak Ridge who can easily weld such things (pressure vessel certified, etc.).

If the administration disagrees with the policy, why do they enforce it? Particularly in cases as silly as this? They should take cases like this back up the chain to the school board to illustrate the stupidity of the policy. If they're blindly following stupid rules, they're just as guilty as the uninvolved parents they like to bitch about. Quit being mindless minions and think for yourself.

I guess I'm just a nerd because I think that might be the coolest thing I've ever seen. Really wish the video's with audio weren't blocked.... -
GA ramping up efforts again to claim TN water
peejman replied to Lumber_Jack's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Even with over 12" of rain in January alone, they're still short of water? God forbid urban planners consider the infrastructure before issuing building permits. Utter incompetence on their part does not create an emergency on our part. I agree, sell it to them. -
Yep, but you'll have to remove the bayonet. Make sure all the mags feed properly. Some work, some don't. Tape on the scope to prevent brass (steel, actually) damage is a good idea. If the trigger has lots of creep or is gritty, send it to this guy.... you'll be amazed at the difference. I sure was. My yugo is stock with the exception of the above trigger job and Tech Sights, both of which I highly recommend.

I'd love to have one. It's definitely on my "must have" list. Shot one (two actually, the first one broke!) at a CMP clinic at ORSA. Loved it!

Yes, you must wait for the treated wood to dry before painting it. The paint will look horrible and peel otherwise. The MDF will soak up a lot of polyurethane.
-
Wow. That oughta do nicely!

I'm not the only one! I've carried one of these for several years. $4 at walmart is hard to beat.

Take her to a range with rentals. Let her shoot anything she wants. Talk her into shooting a few she doesn't like. Pick the one she shoots the best.

Airbus has a project going to 3D print an entire jumbo jet by 2050. Small printers can be had for a modest cost, but bigger ones get expensive real fast.

I've not seen any sort of grass that holds up well with frequent traffic. That's why I'm building some stairs and a path from the side door of my garage around to the back patio.

If it's simple, the smith might be able to fix it on the spot for less than $40.

Wow. That's quite the durability test. :shake: And for the record, you can 3D print the housing and the follower, but not the spring. So it's not completely 3D printed.

I've been transplanting bermuda in my yard the last couple years. I had some very large patches of crabgrass/weeds. I sprayed them with brush killer and waited about a month. Then I dug up the bermuda in "square shovels" about 6" deep and planted it in the dead areas. I took the dirt from the dead areas and filled the holes where I dug up the grass. I made an effort to water them daily for a couple weeks and they've filled in pretty well. I did that in mid summer when the bermuda is thriving, I'd do same thing with the zoysia.

Mosin bolts can require a (very) heavy hand even when clean. Heat and a cordless drill will help with the cleaning process. Are you putting the round into the chamber or allowing the bolt to feed it in?

Since when does credit card debt matter to the masses? If you bought an AR 2 months ago for $1800, would you sell it for $750? Me neither. I hope you're right but I think it'll be a long time before prices come down, if ever.

Jim Cooper this morning on Background Checks
peejman replied to Peace's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I misread the headline and had Jeff Cooper in my mind.... I was very confused for a minute. -
Good info there, thank you. I've tried the pre-emergent stuff and it seemed to have zero effect. But it's possible (even likely) I applied it in the spring rather than the fall, so that may explain the lack of results. Or I may have used the wrong stuff, it's been several years ago. I'll try to remember this in the fall. The chickweed is growing now so I may go ahead and start spraying. When I get frustrated, I just spray it with brush killer and accept the brown spots. The bermuda will fill in come summer time anyway.

Amen. I've been addressing this with my 5 yr old. Sometimes life isn't fair. It's how you deal with it that's important. IIRC, a B average was required within your course of study to graduate. If you got a C, it had better be an elective (and there aren't many of those in grad school).
-
Peace seems to be the expert and in my limited experience, he's right. The hard part is getting it established and happy (soil testing). Once you get there, the issue becomes keeping it out of flower beds and such. Early spring weeds are still a problem. Henbit for me too and I also try to kill it with 2-4D, though it comes back every year. I have a large portion of bermuda in my yard and it will choke the weeds out, it just takes until July for it to get there. I don't fertilize as that just makes the fescue portion grow at an absurd rate.
-
If you've not been to graduate school, a C can kill the whole thing. When I was in, B's were the minimum. If you made a C, they could revoke any scholarship you had and/or kick you out. You could only re-take classes with the professor's permission. If he was an arse and didn't like you, you're screwed. I don't know of that actually happening to anyone. And don't discount the politics between professors and between professors and students. I've seen that have an effect as well. That said, it sure sounds like she earned every bit of that C+.
