    Yes, quite an expensive cab ride.  But given how much the concert tickets are...   The "Market Square" area has a number of good restaurants/bars.  It's walking distance if you're up for a 2-ish mile walk.  Tomato head, Downtown Grill & Brewery, Tupelo Honey, and Preservation Pub are all good.  Cafe 4 is good too, but I don't recommend it for political reasons.      Much closer to the Arena is Calhoun's  and Ruth's Chris on Neyland Dr.  There's also lots of stuff on the Cumberland Ave "strip"     edit.... and so far, the weather forecast is crappy.  Cold, rainy, snowy.... :yuck:

    Your homeowners should cover it, less your deductible of course.    Ask around about free firewood.  I know of a few that would be interested.

    We never did that contest, but did plenty of others around the area.  Interestingly, I met my wife at one about 3 years before we actually met.  The UTC band did an exhibition at a contest her HS band attended.  Obviously, we're both band geeks.  We got to talking about it and found out she was at that show.  She remembered it vividly.... something about the flag girls in leotards dancing in a very sexy fashion around the trumpet line (me) while playing Heartbreak Hotel stuck in her memory.  Stuck in my memory too.  We had to practice it over, and over, and over...  :)

    Dunno.  I click the link and get an embedded video player and it starts automatically.  There's one comment below the video and nothing else one the page seems to load, though I attribute that to my employer's web filtering.            My HS (Hixson) had a very good program and from there I went to UTC for 2 years.  That was, by far, the most fun I've ever had in band.  The band itself was excellent and the directors really did a great job of making sure it was fun.  Leaving the band was my only regret when I transferred to TTU. 

Yes, I'm a former band geek.  I got this in an email and found it pretty impressive.  I'm told this is the Royal Norwegian Guard Regiment.  Their pin wheels could use a little work, but otherwise the performance is excellent.  Reminds me of the good 'ole days when all I had to worry about was staying in step.  A few things to note...     Exactly the same.  Car parts may get a little thicker layer of chrome, but no real difference otherwise.

Ask your local auto restoration place.  They get stuff chromed all the time. 

You'd be amazed at how much oil some types of wood can soak up.  Depends on the wood and the oil.  That said, 16 coats sounds like about 10 too many.  If you want a finish that deep, just lacquer the thing and be done with it. 

    But think of the savings!  Buying someone's reloads in a ziplock baggie probably saved $5.   79 more baggies and that $400 gun will be paid for....         Forgive the sarcasm.  Glad she wasn't hurt.  I'd say she learned an expensive lesson.  A lawyer will cost a lot more than $400.

You might think of structuring it more like a club, rather than a business.  You would allow the club use of your property (like a $1/yr lease or something?).  Club dues would be used for maintenance, improvements, etc.  I haven't a clue about the tax or legal obligations.  Dad is a former president of a craftsman's club.  I could ask and see what he knows about how all that works.  Regardless, I'd definitely talk with a lawyer and get some sort of umbrella liability policy.   I'd also agree with the $50-ish price point.

  It will rust, though how fast and how severe depends on the environment it sees.  A black sharpie or paint pen is a quick fix.

I hope she does win.  At least then maybe she'll deserve half the attention she gets.  As has been stated, she's proven to be a mediocre race car driver at best.  Shows how far a little T&A will get you.    As for being better for the sport...   you mean better for the entertainment.  NASCAR hasn't been a sport since the early '90's.
