  1. Saturday is probably better than Sunday for me, but I think I can do either.
  2. Nice idea and reasonably priced for what you get.  Its just automotive led strip lights, you can find them at any auto parts store.  The 8AA batteries give you 12V to power them.
  3.     Mine too.  My wife is very much a book lover and would go bonkers when our son would tear up a book, regardless of what book it was.  At 5, he doesn't tear up books much anymore.  He's moved on to more expensive things...   His little brother isn't quite so bad.

  5.   Interesting.  Mine doesn't seem to care.  But regardless, definitely verify the ammo works.
  6. This is our dog. We believe she's a mix of blue heeler and dalmatian among other things. In retrospect, that's not a combination I'd recommend. She's been a handful to say the least. We got her from the shelter as a very sick puppy 12 years ago this fall. While the tag on her collar says "Opal" (as in black opals commonly found in Australia), she has many, many names. I have a pet name for her (yes, a pet name for a pet) that I think describes her more accurately than simply Opal.... rottenuselessgoodfornothinghunkofstinkingdogflesh. Say that 5 times fast. She also has the distinction of having jumped off the Look Rock Firetower. We think she was after a squirrel or chipmonk. Apparently they climb trees better than dogs.
  7. Here's another excellent source of info on all manner of gear....  http://www.backpacker.com/gear/
  8. Trade that 900ml water bottle for an old-fashioned hot water bottle.  Heat some water over the fire and put the bottle between your legs in the sleeping bag.  It'll keep your lower body warm.    Hiking sticks are a must with a heavy pack.  I normally hike with about 35 lbs as well...  22 lbs of 2 yr old + 8 lbs of child carrier pack + 5 lbs of diapers, wipes, water, and snacks.  Falling isn't an option.
  9. Thanks gents, I needed a good laugh this morning. :)   Carry on...
  10.     Heh... no you're not.  ;)
  11. Congrats!  Parenthood changes everything, in a good way.  Take lots of pictures, you'll be so tired you won't remember the first few weeks without them.
  12. I've had a PT145 for years.  Great shooting gun.
  13.     Yep, excellent source of information.
  14. Welcome!
  15. Ye ole CBR... And the mighty XT...
  16. Welcome!
  17. Looked like that around lunch time here (the first pic, not the one immediately above unfortunately).  But it was gone in a few hours.
  18.     Sounds like normal wear.  While these aluminum parts are (typically) hard anodized, the hard surface layer is incredibly thin (<0.004").  One there's any sort of scratch that you can feel, you've exposed the soft aluminum underneath.  Extensive use combined with dirt and it'll wear away quite fast.  That's the price we pay for weight savings.    As for how to prevent it...  If its something you have to take on/off regularly, there's not much you can do.  Perhaps add some sort of sacrificial layer between the clamp and the rail... dab of epoxy or maybe just being anal about repainting when it wears through.    That said, I'd be kinda pissed if they blew me off like that too.
  19.     I'd use the standard no hunting / trespassing signs and do the above.  If there's a driveway / road onto the property, I'd put up a "private property" sign.
  20. Lots of various "wilderness survival" type stuff....    medical care - beyond tramua, dental, psychological, ...    farming - seeds, edible plants, nutrition info   maps - topo maps, water way maps, celestial navigation   guide to building shelters   hunting   reloading   chemistry     http://www.pssurvival.com/   http://www.stevespages.com/page7c.htm   http://www.adventuremedicalkits.com/documents/Comprehenive%20Guide%20Wilderness.pdf
  21.   Good deal!
  22.     I frequently wonder if this stuff is really happening that much more often, or if we're just bombarded with it in the media.  I'm sure it is more often, but is it truly to the extent that is portrayed?  I think the media has come to recognize the power they really have over the masses.
  23. Everybody's gotta have their 5 minutes of fame.
  24. As they say....  I'd like to have 1 of each, 2 of some, 3 of a few...
