  1.     And you had to buy the battery?  "It was fine when I brought it here... "     $6k in warranty repairs?  Dayum.  Rather than buy the warranty, why not just buy a Honda?    :taunt:     But this does remind me that I need to plug the tender back into the other bike and mower...

    Full synthetic.

I use full synthetic blinker fluid.  Between that and the ceramic muffler bearings, I get at least 25 more hp.  The tech at the dealership showed be a dyno run...
  3.     That's awesome and oh so tempting.     We have some fancy electronic equipment where I work that either didn't come with a good carry/storage box or we broke the one it came with.  Someone went to the local walmart and found a suitably sized container...    a Plano pistol case.  The guys that use it like to leave the box sitting on the edge of their desk.  It's fun to watch the reactions.  I even give it a double take occasionally.
  4.     Not quite as rare as you might think.  My kids and all of their friends would much rather be running around outside.
  5. Mostly what they said.... gun, flashlight, cell phone.  However, my kids are on the other end of my house so if someone were to break in, just hunkering down in the MBR isn't an option.  My wife gets her gun, flashlight, and calls 911.  I get my gun, flashlight, and go get the kids.  The only thing I'd add to your kit is shoes.
  6. Looks like an actual chainsaw chain.  Seems like it would take a lot of force to get it to cut, the pic even shows two people using it.  I haven't used one in a long time, but I recall the old wire saws being pretty easy to use even if the rings wear out your fingers like UncleJak says.  How hard is to to use?
  7. I can see them now.    Dig the toy front-end loader in the last pic.  My kids have one very similar.
  8. Winter is my favorite time to hike.  I don't get soaked with sweat and don't have to carry as much water.  No leaves so you have better views.  It's very quiet.  Can't stop for long because you get cold.  And best of all.... no snakes or bugs!
  9.   Get a battery tender and a quality battery.  I went through 4 walmart batteries in 3 years in my bike.  Forked over the cash and got a Yuasa.  It's been in there for 5 years.
  10. Looks nice.  Other than the patina on the blade (which looks really cool), it appears to be a fairly normal kitchen knife.    How long is it and where's the balance point?
  11.   Ding!    I'm sure the county lock-up is no picnic, but why not work detail or community service, ... something useful.
  12. Am I the only one who can't see the pics?  I can see the one Erik posted, but that's it.
  13.     Only if any individual can call in to perform the check.  If you make a licensee do it, someone would have to pay for it.  Even if they set up some sort of flat rate system... $10ea... that the government would reimburse the licensee.  That $10 is still our tax money.
  14.     I was close...
  15.     I grew up mostly that way as well, though I guess you'd consider it the suburbanite version.  Having just looked at the map, our normal play range was a good two square miles around the house.  Dad built me a tree house in the back yard so I really did have a fort.            Same here.  :)           Hills.... wow.  I spent lots of leaf raking money in that place.        .... Sorry for the thread hijack     :hijack:
  16. Nice!  I need one of these.
  17. A friend suggested a similar idea as a possible solution to the proclaimed "gun show loop hole".  You must pass a background check to gain entry into the show and you get a wrist band.  The cost would be part of the "cover charge".  Then even if you wanted to sell outside the show, you have ready access to a background check.    What you're proposing reaches a bit further and I don't disagree with it in principle.  However, I do share the opinion that its nothing more than a tax.  The SCOTUS ruled Obamacare was a tax and hence illegal, how is this different?.
  18.     My legos are all old-school, back when you had to use your imagination.  Now they make all these fancy formed and moving parts....   :yuck:
  19.     Nope.  An excellent way to get the kids engaged in applying classroom theory to something real.  Wish I'd gotten to build something this cool in school.
  20. I'll take that as a compliment. It's actually in my parents attic. My 5 yr old saw it and the rest of my GI Joe stuff at their house before Christmas. When his little brother gets bigger they'll both get the GI Joe stuff and about 40 billion legos. heh... I also have one of these... and one of these... among other things... :)
  21. You mean the Night Raven? I still have mine from the '80's.... :) The thing I can't figure out with both Iran and North Korea.... What's the fascination with land based ICBM's? Don't they realize that's 60 year old technology? Don't they realize they're easy to detect and shoot down these days? Why waste so much time and money developing something that borders on militarily irrelevant?
  22. The "Jaws" one is hilarious.
  23. Good ole compressible flow.  Amazing what you can do with a little math & physics.    Edit... I'm surprised they published the dimensions of the nozzle.  That takes all the fun out of it.
