If you've not been to graduate school, a C can kill the whole thing. When I was in, B's were the minimum. If you made a C, they could revoke any scholarship you had and/or kick you out. You could only re-take classes with the professor's permission. If he was an arse and didn't like you, you're screwed. I don't know of that actually happening to anyone. And don't discount the politics between professors and between professors and students. I've seen that have an effect as well. That said, it sure sounds like she earned every bit of that C+.

Here's mine (excuse the crappy phone pic)....

Don't believe me or ....?

That was probably 25 years ago (I was in high school), but I still remember it vividly. We got to meet some of the Russian, Turkish, Iranian, and Iraqi wrestlers. The US (and other western) wrestlers were very strong and had the classic "California beach" body builder look. The eastern block guys didn't look like much but were strong as bulls and tough as nails. I sparred a little with one guy my size and it was like trying to move a stump. And I'm sure he was just playing with me. I watched one of the Turkish wrestlers get his shoulder dislocated in a match. He got up and walked over toward his coach obviously in considerable pain. The coach grabbed his arm, shoved his shoulder back in, spun him around, and pushed him back out on the mat. :dropjaw: That's exactly what I liked about it. While it's a team sport, it's all about individual effort. You're out there alone and learn a lot about yourself in the process. Wrestling has always been big in ETN and NGA. I grew up in Chattanooga and the competition was always tough.

I'd love to have a table like that.

As a former wrestler, that's a bummer. Further proof that money is all that matters these days. I got to meet and hang out with several Olympic/World Cup wrestlers many years ago. The power and endurance those guys possess is simply staggering. I watched a 250 lb Russian wrestler reverse curl 275 lbs. We were trying to show him power cleans. Apparently he didn't quite understand as he picked up the bar, reverse curled it, and put it back down. It appeared effortless for him. He looked at us with the expression of ... "Did I do that right?" We just stared at him and one another, not believing what we'd just seen.

4.9 "Earthquake" Nuclear Bomb North Korea
peejman replied to TLRMADE's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Step 1: Dig a really deep hole. Step 2: Put bomb in the hole. Step 3: Fill hole back in Step 4: Detonate bomb. In theory, you've checked the water table before digging the hole and determined that it's much deeper than the hole you need so it doesn't get contaminated. Also in theory, the blast is contained and doesn't release radioactive material into the air. I'm sure the North is highly aware of these things and took the appropriate safety measures.... -

Let them continue to waste their time and money building it and when they do finally launch one, shoot it down. -
Came into a snipped Enfield #4 -- need advice

I'd do what you suggested. Return the one to original as best as possible and make a toy of some sort out of the other one. -
Ding! No big loss, there's much better stuff out there.

So they're nuking themselves? Um... I'm good with that. That and $1 will get you a cup of coffee. -
Some people just don't get that. Its a cultural thing in some places. I try to be friendly, but arms length is close enough. It's nice to have some sort of physical barrier to keep them from getting too close. My 5 yr old is that way. He frequently likes to get right up in my face, inches away. He's my son, but sometimes its just.... "Ok kiddo, you're breathing my air. Back up."

Lowes/HD have a wide variety of tool bags with all manner of pockets and pouches. They're typically quite sturdy but not likely to be made in the US.

Stop by the local building salvage place. You can get cheap cabinets, counter tops, etc. Sometimes you can find unfinished stuff can you can stain/paint to match the rest of the decor. Otherwise HD/Lowes sell inexpensive white stuff that works fine and can be pieced together. Cabinets work great because they have doors/drawers. You can pack all your stuff inside and then shut the doors so it looks neat. Use a lazy susan in the corner. Use under-cabinet lights for good surface lighting. Run a power strip under the bench surface so cords stay out of the way. Make sure the bench surface is plenty stiff and braced so you can bolt a vice to it.

I'm well versed in chasing them around, but usually not with a rifle. Thanks for the info.

NOS sticker on the AR.... that's friggen genius! When I was in college we built a small off-road buggy (SAE Mini-baja). The rules required that we carry a fire extinguisher on board. Just for laughs, we painted the extinguisher powder blue, put a NOS sticker on it, and stuck a piece of vinyl hose on the nozzle. You wouldn't believe the number of comments we got to the effect of "holy crap, that things got nitrous!" People are so stupid. Yep. It looks really cool when I hit the purge button while I'm checkin' my ho's and rollin' thru da hood at night. fo shizzle.

Is there not a concern for ricochets from golf balls? I've got an ample supply of crappy golf balls but have always been apprehensive about shooting them.

Wow. That's hard to believe. Seems like a form of discrimination. We've often joked at work that we should form a commune. We'll all be domestic partners and adopt each others kids so the "family" rate is split across about 50 people. That'd show 'em...
-
Oh yeah? See how that blend holds up when I hit my 500 NOS shot. I put the bottle in the trunk and ran the lines under the carpet so it's all stealth and stuff. I did find that the propane store charged way less to fill it.

If your only weapon is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.

$360/mo additional for her or total for both of you? That does sound a little high, but not terrible. Its very difficult to compare rates without all the details .... deductibles, copays, percent coverages, out-of-pocket limits, provider network, etc. I think mine is about $320/mo for the family. Feel free to shop around, but I doubt you'll find similar coverage for much less. And yes, the healthy people subsidize the sick ones. That's how insurance companies make money. It's also one reason why I switched to an HRA type plan. If you're not familiar, the cliff-notes version is that they give you a lump of money to spend on health care. What you don't spend rolls over to the next year and they give you another lump. So it can add up after a few years. If you spend more than your lump, it goes back to a typical 80/20 type plan.
