I have one of these. It does a good job of keeping my kids away from my handguns. Its' got 4 pistols, a flashlight, can of pepper spray, and a can of bear spray inside. Nothing fancy, but it works. http://www.amazon.com/Stack-On-PS-514-Personal-Safe-Electronic/dp/B000LG6KCA/ref=sr_1_4?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1363003456&sr=1-4&keywords=stack+on+pistol+safe If I could do it again, I'd get a bigger one. :) The waterproof/fireproof document safes will retain moisture and may accelerate corrosion. If you keep guns in one, be sure you keep some desiccant in it too. edit... I also have one of these for my long guns. Again, nothing fancy but it works... http://www.cabelas.com/product/Stack-On-Eight-Gun-Ready-to-Assemble-Cabinet/1170698.uts

I'm sure all his stuff now is custom made, but I feel sure he started out similar to where you are. I'd guess he went through a number of iterations while working his way up to the level where people custom make stuff for you.

Good deal. I'm curious if you were shooting inside or outside? My wife tried a revolver and while she complained about the recoil, I think it was the muzzle blast more than the recoil (indoor range). I've shot a few revolvers but never a snubby before that one. I was shocked by the muzzle blast, it seemed like more than my 3.5" barrel .45. My wife currently has a Smith 9mm that she shoots really well, but it's a tad big and heavy (all metal) so she's reluctant to carry it. I'd like to find something a little smaller and the LCR is one I'd consider if I can get her past that bad first experience.

That switch only controls the air handler (aka, the fan). The thermostat still cycles as needed. Motors wear out more starting and stopping than by running continuously. The motor doesn't draw much power once it's running. The power saved by the reduced cycling frequency generally more than offsets the power consumed by the fan running continuously. Once you get used to the sound of it running all the time, the house will be eerily quiet when the power goes out. Use a quality pleated air filter with MERV rating of 8-11 or MPR rating of 800-1500 and change it roughly every 2-3 months. The higher the number, the better it works, more it costs, and faster it clogs up. now... back to things that go bump in the night...

Think about combining rental/homeowners, life insurance, wife's car, etc. with them. Most providers offer a "multi-line" discount. Check on the difference between $500 and $1000 deductibles. Mine are $500 because the reduction by going to $1000 had something like a 10 yr payback. Meaning while it may increase your premium slightly, it'll actually save you money if you have a claim. The rental car coverage is another one to think hard about. If you mash a car, it can take weeks to get it fixed. If you don't have alternate transportation, rental cars get expensive real quick. Everything else looks normal to me. You'll just have to suffer for 3 more years, rates typically go down at age 25.

Sounds like you did the right thing. As for the noises... I've had stuff fall over in the attic, pots/pan that weren't stacked particularly well come crashing down inside the kitchen cabinet, stuff fall off shelves in the garage, the cat knock over a table lamp, and the thing that scared me the most... the suction cupped shower caddy thing come crashing down. Turn the fan from "auto" to "on". The fan will run 24/7. Your air will be cleaner, the HVAC won't cycle as often, and your utility bill may drop.

Mount the lights/camera up high, out of reach.

Motion sensor lights are a good idea. But keep in mind that if you point them in such a way as to blind the trespasser, they'll also blind you and your wife every time you trip them in the dark. That said, I'd hardly call someone that pulled up, stopped beyond a locked gate for a minute or two, and didn't get out of the car suspicious enough to warrant lasers and flaming pigs. Probably just someone lost, drunk, or both.

Citgo HQ Flies Old Glory at Half Mast for Chavez
peejman replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
A local real estate office had their flag at half-staff yesterday. It didn't occur to me why that might be until later and I didn't have time to stop and ask. I hope it wasn't for Chavez but can't think of any other reason. -
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/03/06/leaked-email-adds-fuel-to-claims-white-house-playing-politics-over-impact-cuts/ Shocking. I hear Venezuela is looking for a new communist dictator...

Got my email shipping notice this morning. Easily trimmed off. How many Prius owners also have a 2-stroke weed eater, left blower, and/or chain saw? -
Missing by that much at 25 yds means something is really wrong. What ammo is he using? Is the crown buggered? Barrel bent?

Please don't tempt me. You can buy one and I'll keep it at my house so you don't get in trouble. How 'bout that?

Using vinegar in home brew gun cleaning

Vinegar is fairly acidic and can be used to clean all manner of things. It's a common old fashioned cleaner. -
How heavy is the safe? 200lbs or 800lbs? I wouldn't sit the safe directly on the concrete, you'll need some sort of moisture barrier to (help) prevent the steel from rusting. If it's heavy, I also wouldn't sit the safe directly on the laminate as it'll slowly crush the flooring and leave a depression. As 2oh said, if there's windows in the room, the floor won't fade under the safe and will leave a noticeable color change. Can you just leave the carpet and replace the floor just prior to moving out?

Have a look at these... http://archive.org/details/Rifle_Marksmanship_with_the_M1_Rifle

One of each. Two of many. Three of some.

If you've got others to play with, I'd leave it be. I might peel back the paper and inhale the sweet cosmoline goodness occasionally, but that's about it. ... and those crates. Sometimes I wish I wasn't so fiscally responsible. *sigh*

Looks pretty good to me. I'm sure some mag carriers could be added to the other side. You might ask this guy for some advice... http://www.trevorbaucom.com/

An acquaintance of mine is a federal officer. He reported several days ago that he was getting 3 weeks unpaid furlough.

No personal experience but have heard Forrester's in Lenoir City recommended by a number of people.
