  We also bought one from The Bed Store in Maryville about 5 years ago.  By far the nicest and most knowledgeable sales guy we found, and we went a bunch of places.  Our mattress is a Sterling & Thomas and it's ... ok.  Its a normal spring mattress with a layer of memory foam on top.  It too has developed dips where we typically sleep.  The Sealy pillow top we had before was in better shape after 10 years than this one at 5 years old. 

Thanks to all and especially spots! I had a good time and got to see some cool toys. Still not sure which was louder, the .460 or the .338. They're both darn impressive. I'll get the pics and video I took uploaded hopefully tomorrow. Already looking forward to the next one.

I got a flu shot in the fall and got the flu about 2 weeks later.  That's the first time I've had the flu in 6-8 years and the only time I've gotten it when I'd also gotten the shot.  I assume the shot hadn't had time to take full effect or it was one of those strains that wasn't covered.  I spent 2 days in bed doing exactly the same thing.... shivering so hard my back ached and was exhausted, or sweating like a horse.  I basically lived in our bedroom for about 4 days trying to keep our kids from contracting it.  Thankfully they didn't.  It hit me on a friday night and my fever (101-102) broke late sunday.  I went to the doc on monday and got an antibiotic shot and prescription and immediately started feeling better.

While you (and I, and many others) may not agree with what they did, it's a free country and they can choose who they want as customers. 

I have a Smith's and it works for me.  I had some problems with it at first and I learned something in the process...   Any of the "systems" that hold the blade at a particular angle for you will likely not work real well the first time you try to sharpen a particular knife.  Why?  While they both may say 20 deg or 25 deg, the angle for the sharpener isn't exactly the same as the factory angle on the blade.    Case in point....  The pocket knife the NRA sent me a while back.  I got it out and thought, meh... kinda sharp, but I can do better.  So I got the Smith's out and went to work.  The more I sharpened, the duller it got.  :squint:   When staring at it followed by cussing at it didn't help, I broke out the flashlight and magnifying glass.  A close look at the blade revealed the problem...  there was a nice, shiny, freshly polished strip about 0.020" back from the edge.  The angle I was sharpening at was slightly shallower than the factory edge.  So while I was removing metal, it wasn't from the edge.    So I backed up and got the coarse diamond out, worked on it for a while until I'd essentially re-profiled the edge to match the angle of the sharpener.  Once that was done, the blade sharpened up quite easily. 

I've always been very impressed by anyone who can do that.  The precision they achieve by hand is really amazing.

    Honestly, given the current states of the stock market and the housing market... a house may not be your best investment.  Invest your money in a good fund and get 10-15% return.  Invest your money in a house and get -2% return....  :squint:   The experts claim the housing market has hit the bottom.  I sure hope so, because given what I paid for my house 5 years ago and what my neighbor sold his similar house for late last year, I'm looking at a 5-10% loss if I had to sell it today.   I lived in the house before this one for 7 years.  When I sold it, I made 0.78% total return on the bottom line.  Granted, I built a lot of equity over those 7 years that helped immensely with buying the 2nd one.  And I certainly wouldn't have been able to invest what I paid on the mortgage and pay rent at the same time.    That said, the apt we lived in between the 2 houses reminded me why, and firmly convinced me, that I hate renting.  Even if it is a sucky investment and lots of work, I'd much rather be in a house than an apt.    However, they're not making more land.  Land typically seems to do ok... land with a house sitting on it... not so much.  I don't understand why.    Definitely lots to consider.

    To each his own, but to me its about the history.  That beat up old Garand has history.  Especially when the guy that carried it brought it back.  That chip out of the buttstock, yeah that happened when we hit a pill box on D-Day plus 2.  That scratch in the receiver, that happened when....

As stated, walking the tracks is neither easy nor safe. Others are likely to have the same idea so expect company. But they can be a good way to get back to campus when you're hammered... Not that I've ever done that...

    True and I'm fine with that.  But there's lots of people with pistol caliber carbines that might be shooting out that far and not understand what it does at longer ranges.  A quick surf of their web site indicates they have something different for rifle cartridges, but I didn't take the time to read it. 

    Use a chronograph.  2000 ft/s seems awfully fast.   I'd be curious about penetration into various things... phone books, boards, sheetrock,... the usual stuff.  I'm also curious how the mostly hollow bullet performs, especially since they claim its not supposed to expand like a traditional hollow point.  My guess is that it works fine at close range but would have horrible ballistics much past 100 yds.  Seems like the poor aerodynamics and low mass would cause it to slow down very, very quickly.    Come to think of it...  If I were selling a new technology like this, seems like I'd already have done all this stuff and would gladly provide evidence as such.  Seems odd that they don't. 

I'd also be happy to carpool, but I won't be able to leave Maryville until 10-11am. 

I look forward to stuff like this when my kids get a little bigger.  The older one has been wearing me out wanting to shoot his bb gun. 

    Numbers matching is worth a bit to a collector, the amount varies based on the model.  I'd put a really nice Norinco in the $400-ish range.   A tacti-cooled Russian?  Sacrilege!!  :panic:     To me... not worth much unless the original parts were available.  Maybe $300-ish.
