I'll agree with the above. If it's old and never been changed, leave it be. I get the trans fluid changed in my vehicles every 50k-60k miles. I change the oil every 5k with semi-synthetic. And for the record, I hate automatic transmissions. I'll take a 5 speed any day. Clutches are MUCH cheaper and easier to replace.

Since I'm the only one in the house awake when I leave for work, I've always made my own lunch. $8 for lunch, 5 days a week, for 50 weeks a year = $2000.

I'm LH/RE. I grew up shooting left handed and never had any problems because I always closed my right eye. Growing up left handed in a right handed world, I've always considered myself somewhat ambidextrous. I catch and throw right handed, play golf right handed, kick right footed, etc. When I began reading more about pistol shooting, I decided to switch to right hand shooting to match my dominant eye. Accuracy was never a problem as long as I closed my left eye. I still struggle with both eyes open. I've tried the trick above of putting a piece of tape across the left lens of my shooting glasses and it helps. I've read that if you do this often enough you can re-train your brain as to which eye is dominant, but I don't shoot nearly often enough for that to happen for me.

Why Benghazi May Finally Have Legs
peejman replied to MacGyver's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Good. I can't believe the families of those involved aren't raising hell over the lack of resolution. Perhaps they are and that's just one more thing we're not being told... -
Love that pic! For me... blade length of 4-5" (which I tell my wife is 9") is about as long as I use regularly. I've got a full-sized KABAR and it's a bit unwieldy for me. It's fun to scare people with, but the only times I've used it is when a hatchet hasn't been handy. To me, anything longer than that 7" blade is moving into machete territory.

3D gun files pulled due to potential ITAR violation

It's Al Gore's fault. After all, he did invent the internet... -
Now that I'd like to see... I feel pretty sure a venomous spider would be considered Class I. You might give TWRA a call.

Can I do this legally without going to FFL? Handgun trade question?

Metal can be DIY, with some tools and skills. One of my neighbors did his rather steep roof himself. Took him about a month, but he got it all done. I'd get some quotes now to have a better idea of how much you'll need to save. Thankfully mine was covered by insurance as I had lots of hail and wind damage.

Agreed. I think the biggest problem is that the states seem to be doing it more or less ad hoc. If they'd pool their resources and essentially gang up on the administration, I think they'd get a lot further. Also, maybe this just my simple mind working against me again, but how does Congress pass a law that's unconstitutional? It seems to happen with relative (and frightening) regularity. I don't understand why there isn't a review process in place to prevent such things. edit... 6.8AR, that's a nice Constitution link, thanks.

The letter even states that they haven't determined if it's an ITAR issue yet. But he's ordered to cease and desist until such time as they can make that determination. Whether that's a legal order or not, I don't know. I do know that the ITAR folks don't play. -
Interesting. What do you do with the rotten straw at the end of the season? I don't have a good way of disposing of that much volume. I'd say just till it under, but then I'd have a "normal" garden plot for the next year which would defeat the purpose... I've heard mixed results with doing tomatoes in containers. Basically, if you're on-the-ball enough to water them every day without fail, they'll do fine. I highly doubt my ability to pull that off. I didn't have problems with tomato blight last year. The tomatoes were in a different spot (not up against the house) and I planted different varieties (cherry, roma, better boy). The roma's in particular tasted excellent and we had piles and piles of them. I put chicken wire up around my small plot up against the house to keep the rabbits out (or whatever was eating everything) and that's worked well. Though a friend who lives nearby also has lots of rabbits around and they don't bother his garden. So maybe it wasn't rabbits? All I know is the chicken wire worked.

Bump because it's that time of year again.

Lettuce, green beans, and peas coming up now. The lettuce is almost ready to eat. I lost my larger garden plot so I need to build a raised bed in the yard to make room for tomatoes, cucumbers, okra, and whatever else we decide to plant. And yes, this business of raining every weekend is getting old real fast.

In my experience, milsurp ammo does tend to thump pretty good while aftermarket stuff seems a good bit lighter. Glad you got it up and running. How about some pics of the finished article?

This is really cool. Can't believe he used that big piece of purple heart in the frame, but otherwise.... just really cool. http://www.garagejournal.com/2013/04/the-foot-powered-lathe/ Dad's a wood turner and has a couple lathes (and a bunch of other stuff), but not one like this. I think he's still got some old hand crank drills that I recall using when I was a kid. We've also got a foot powered sewing machine, but I don't think it works.

They've also got the X-Scream: I love roller coasters and could probably be coaxed into riding both. Though I feel sure I'd scream like a sissy girl and have to sit down for a few minutes afterwards waiting for the shakes to subside.

Heckuva deal! Wish I could find one locally, though admittedly I've not been looking terribly hard.
