Can I do this legally without going to FFL? Handgun trade question?

Metal can be DIY, with some tools and skills. One of my neighbors did his rather steep roof himself. Took him about a month, but he got it all done. I'd get some quotes now to have a better idea of how much you'll need to save. Thankfully mine was covered by insurance as I had lots of hail and wind damage.

Agreed. I think the biggest problem is that the states seem to be doing it more or less ad hoc. If they'd pool their resources and essentially gang up on the administration, I think they'd get a lot further. Also, maybe this just my simple mind working against me again, but how does Congress pass a law that's unconstitutional? It seems to happen with relative (and frightening) regularity. I don't understand why there isn't a review process in place to prevent such things. edit... 6.8AR, that's a nice Constitution link, thanks.

3D gun files pulled due to potential ITAR violation
peejman replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The letter even states that they haven't determined if it's an ITAR issue yet. But he's ordered to cease and desist until such time as they can make that determination. Whether that's a legal order or not, I don't know. I do know that the ITAR folks don't play. -
Interesting. What do you do with the rotten straw at the end of the season? I don't have a good way of disposing of that much volume. I'd say just till it under, but then I'd have a "normal" garden plot for the next year which would defeat the purpose... I've heard mixed results with doing tomatoes in containers. Basically, if you're on-the-ball enough to water them every day without fail, they'll do fine. I highly doubt my ability to pull that off. I didn't have problems with tomato blight last year. The tomatoes were in a different spot (not up against the house) and I planted different varieties (cherry, roma, better boy). The roma's in particular tasted excellent and we had piles and piles of them. I put chicken wire up around my small plot up against the house to keep the rabbits out (or whatever was eating everything) and that's worked well. Though a friend who lives nearby also has lots of rabbits around and they don't bother his garden. So maybe it wasn't rabbits? All I know is the chicken wire worked.

Bump because it's that time of year again.

Lettuce, green beans, and peas coming up now. The lettuce is almost ready to eat. I lost my larger garden plot so I need to build a raised bed in the yard to make room for tomatoes, cucumbers, okra, and whatever else we decide to plant. And yes, this business of raining every weekend is getting old real fast.

In my experience, milsurp ammo does tend to thump pretty good while aftermarket stuff seems a good bit lighter. Glad you got it up and running. How about some pics of the finished article?

This is really cool. Can't believe he used that big piece of purple heart in the frame, but otherwise.... just really cool. http://www.garagejournal.com/2013/04/the-foot-powered-lathe/ Dad's a wood turner and has a couple lathes (and a bunch of other stuff), but not one like this. I think he's still got some old hand crank drills that I recall using when I was a kid. We've also got a foot powered sewing machine, but I don't think it works.

They've also got the X-Scream: I love roller coasters and could probably be coaxed into riding both. Though I feel sure I'd scream like a sissy girl and have to sit down for a few minutes afterwards waiting for the shakes to subside.

Heckuva deal! Wish I could find one locally, though admittedly I've not been looking terribly hard.

If I was told 6 weeks and it wasn't done 10 weeks later without a good explanation, I'd be annoyed.

Ding! A hog lot sounds like a fitting place, and they'd probably take him for free.

Jim White did an excellent job on my roof about a year ago. He had 9 guys and they did the whole job in 1 day, including some custom flashing that was painted to match my faded trim. http://jimwhitebuilders.com/ Flashing around a chimney should be child's play for a good roofer. For a basic shingle roof with decent quality shingles... $5000-6000-ish. Double that for the nice powder coated metal stuff. Solar panels are easily installed over existing roofing. Metal roofing may be a more of an issue simply because it's so slippery.

Long as its reheated in the oven or toaster oven, they all seem fine to me. Papa Johns is my favorite followed by Dijorno, mostly because they seem less greasy than most.

I use a push mower for trim work around the landscaping and cut the bulk with the riding mower. It also helps keep me from blowing clippings into the flower beds. I already had the push mower and the rider came with the house so that's what I use. If I didn't have those, a zero turn would be high on the list. I think a lawn tractor would work fine on the slope, just be careful about it. My father-in-law mows 2 of his 5 acres with a high(er) end Deere law tractor, but its not a zero turn. It takes him forever going around the trees and bushes and he's killed the transmission once already with all the stop/go stuff. Keep in mind that most all the lower end lawn tractors (Deere included) are built in the Murray factory in Greenville TN.

Cool idea!

I practice my pocket carry draw periodically. I know it'll never be super speedy, but I can get it out cleanly most of the time. The only problem that comes up is the holster coming out with the gun.

Looks super nice! A house is a lot of work, but worth it. My cheapo craftsman weedeater has been fine. The throttle trigger is flakey, but it works fine otherwise. The craftsman riding mower that came with the house has been fine too. How much do you have to mow? If its more than an acre, I'd invest in a nice zero turn.

Awesome!!!

Nope, motorcyclist. Chevy, Toyota, Honda, and Yamaha in my garage.

One point of clarification.... BMW cars are bimmers. BMW motorcycles are beemers. Carry on....
