  1. Sorry to hear that, terrible situation for a young family.
  2. A bunch of Legos and Testors plastic models that my kids play with now. This was my high school ride. Yeah, I was that kid. And no, there were never any shenanigans in the back. No one would get close enough....
  3. Sociopathy is a mental illness.
  4. If calling for help in an emergency is your goal, just get a satellite locator beacon. They're easy and cheap. If you want to dive into the radio rabbit hole, and it's a quite a cavern, get a radio.
  5. My youngest was fine 3 days after first symptoms, minor as they were. It took another 3 days for him to test negative so he can play basketball this weekend.
  6. I walked into taco bell for the first time in ages. A single crunchy taco is $2.69. They were $0.49 when I was in college.
  7. Even better if those were linked.
  8. To catch people doing something wrong.
  9. Agency radio frequency info.... https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?stid=47
  10. In that case, one of the hand held radios should work fine. I have a Baofeng radio. It's capable of transmitting but I don't have a license. In the event of an emergency, I have no hesitation to transmit without a license. They can fine me if they like (I doubt they would) it'd be better than being dead. But also understand that the radio won't work down in the hollers unless there's a repeater tower close by.
  11. Didn't happen when my roof was replaced a few years ago. But getting dropped is pretty common. Insurance companies have learned that they can't afford to insure a large percentage of people in any one area. If a big storm blows through, they need to minimize the impact to their bottom line. All-State insurance learned this the hard way in 1992 with hurricane Andrew. It wiped out central Florida and All-State insured a lot of those people. I worked for Sears, who owned All-State then. I recall the meeting with the regional manager saying that was the first time ever that Sears was going to post a loss for the year. Sears never recovered.
  12. Didn't know they'd added a pistol range. Nice sporting clays area.
  13. Welcome. I grew up in Chattanooga.
  14. The only place I can think of that might allow steel is ORSA.
  15. Howdy neighbor. The only range in town is Gunnys. It's functional but not much to look at. Otherwise there's the John Sevier range or Point Blank in Knoxville. Bud's in Sevierville is nice but about an hours drive. Good luck on your property search, we'd love to find a few acres but the market is insane here.
  16. It sounds pretty typical for the half dozen or so folks I know who've gotten this round of it. My youngest woke up with a sore throat and mild fever. Test results pending. I think he's enjoying laying in bed with the laptop all day.
  17. Nice. Dad has a 1st series Woodsman with a little shorter barrel.
  18. Ah. I've been happy with State Farm. My original agent was a family friend, but he passed a couple years ago. My current agent is a guy in Clinton whose name I can't remember.
  19. Very funny guy from a time when comedy didn't have to be vulgar.
  20. Does your prior agent/carrier not just transfer your policy to someone here?
  21. Methane recovery at dairy farms is quite common. Much more cost effective since they're in a confined area.
  22. They tried to implement a methane capture at the landfill here, but it proved not cost effective.
  23. You've really never heard it called "dino oil"? http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/1/9/3/9/7/webimg/15459721.jpg As for regular gas vs hybrid vs pure electric power trains... look at what the OEM's are spending their development money on. There's a huge number of combustion engine design experts who've suddenly realized they're an expert in obsolete technology. Having been there myself, that's not a super happy place.
