  1. I have a slightly different spin on that "high deductible" type plan you have, called an HRA plan.  HRA = Health Reimbursement Account.   Functionally, its the same as the OP's BSBC plan ($2500 family deductible, 80/20 thereafter) with the exception that the company gives you $1000 toward the deductible.  That $1000 is the HRA.  So that account covers the first $1000 of care (which isn't much these days), then I pay the next $1500 to meet the deductible, then we go 80/20 until the out-of-pocket max.  No copays, nothing to pay up front.    The good part is, if you're healthy and don't spend that first $1000, it rolls over to the next year assuming you choose the same plan again.  So if you didn't spend any of it, the 2nd year you'd have $2000 toward your $2500 deductible, and so on.  If the HRA balance exceeds your deductible, its then used to pay for the 80/20 portion if/when that comes up.    The frustrating part is, lots of health providers don't understand how the plan works and I have to explain to (or argue with) them about how it works.  And the provider (UHC) is agonizingly slow to pay the bills, so I regularly get bills from providers for things I don't owe simply because UHC just hasn't paid them yet.  It goes against my nature to not pay a bill when I get it, but if I pay a bill that the insurance should have paid, I won't ever get my money back.  AMHIK.
  2.     Peach wine....  some of my wife's relations have peach trees and made some peach wine a few years ago.  They thought it was wonderful.  It tasted more like peach kerosine to my unrefined palette.
  3. Calipers are cheap, any hardware store will them.  A nice digital one should be $30 or less.
  4.   Yep.  Tomatoes and skunk is worse than just skunk.    To the OP - Don't be surprised if the dog isn't the same color today.  Our black dog was brown for a couple weeks after getting skunked.
  5. Welcome!
  6.   Wasp spray will kill them on contact, but it won't get the nest in the ground.    I used some powdered yellow jacket killer stuff and copious quantities of the spray to kill a nest in my yard last year.  The nest was at the base of a tree and the tree died (note that it wasn't real healthy to begin with).         Not exactly the most "green" way to kill them, but it works.  And if you do it, you gotta drop a match in the hole...
  7. So I googled it. Holy crap!!!!
  8. I'd like to see a canister shot in that thing. I believe a 105mm howitzer is technically a center fire cartridge.
  9. Agreed, there are times when it's unavoidable. The Zimmerman case was not one of them. What Zimmerman did was stupid. Legal, but stupid.
  10. I've read stuff that said that a reaction draw is almost always faster than if you draw first. Adrenalin is an amazing thing. Feisty old guy... :)
  11. If you're getting them out of footwear boxes that are arriving from some overseas manufacturing location, they're likely already used up.  That said, I keep a couple 1lb packets in my gun cabinet.  I get them from my employer and I know they're new.
  12. The morons from "Sons of Guns" managed to set the swamp on fire with a machine gun.  So yes, it's quite possible.
  13. Put a thermometer/hygrometer inside.  The first year is all about figuring out what the temp range is and controlling the humidity. Once you know the conditions inside, you can better determine what will grow.  A friend has a real green house and annoys us with fresh, vine ripe tomatoes in January.    You'll want some sort of door.  Taking the frame on/off every time will get old real fast.  And you won't want to expose the plants to that blast of cold air either.      edit... also make sure your cover will reasonably survive the weather.  It'd be a bummer for an over-night gust of wind to blow it down and the ensuring frost ruin everything.
  14. You're lucky you're not allergic.  My arm would be the size of a balloon and I'd need a Benadryl IV.    Mix up some a paste of meat tenderizer and water and apply it to the stings.  Leave it on until it's dry, it'll help with the itching.
  15. Here's an article on freezing various veggies...  http://www.motherearthnews.com/organic-gardening/freezing-vegetables-zm0z13aszsor.aspx?newsletter=1&utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_term=GFSS%20eNews&utm_campaign=07.26.13%20GFSS#axzz2akZz7Scd   And I didn't catch the "pee seasoned" when I read that earlier...   um...   ew.
  16.     You don't have to out run the bear, just out run your buddy.  The guy with the camera around his neck is dead meat.
  17. I'm staggered by the knowledge exhibited by Ms. Boots. Perhaps she's simply got good google-fu, but the fact that this was included in the article is amazing to me... Perhaps I shouldn't be amazed, but I am. After all, this seems to be the norm...
  18.     Once upon a time, there was talk of a spec racing series for GW's similar to the BMW Boxer Cup.  I think that would've been a hoot to watch and I'll bet the lap times would've humbled some folks.
  19. Nice list. I'd add one more lesson... Don't be stupid and you won't get in a fight.
  20. What they said about milling. Having a good, rigid fixture is very important. If the part is moving or rattling, it'll chatter like crazy. Surface finish and dimensional control will be terrible. Make small cuts.... 0.025" at the most. Make a pass, the make another pass (called a spring pass) without moving anything. If it makes chips the 2nd time, your cutting too much or the part is moving.
  21. That sure looks like fun. Unfortunately that'd probably be a whole year's worth of ammo for me.
  22. I've met Rick a couple times, he can ride a wing like no one I've ever seen. Nice guy too. Fastest time? Not hardly. But that's another discussion...

  24. I don't disagree. There's the school of thought that a right unexercised isn't a right anymore. But Leonard is an attention whore with an agenda. Unfortunately he's fairly smart too. Guys like him simply take advantage of the fact that we have a legal system rather than a justice system.
