Read last night that the parent has been charged with disturbing the peace and ... get this.... assaulting an officer.  I can't help but laugh at that.

Dad had surgery to remove a bone spur in his knee about 6 weeks ago.  So far, there hasn't been much improvement.  The doc said there wasn't much cartilage left in the joint, so what he's likely feeling is bone on bone.  The doc's advice was to take the cortisone shots for as long as they'll help and then it's time for knee replacement.

As Fallguy is alluding to, there doesn't appear to be much case law to clarify the difference between consumption and "under the influence".  As we all know, some people get drunk after one beer.  Some are perfectly sober after a 12 pack.  My interpretation is that "under the influence" is failing field sobriety tests and/or the blood alcohol content limit.  As to the anecdote above, I think I'd have fought that.

How can they be suspended for “possession, handling and use of a firearm”, when they weren't possessing, handling, or using firearms?   Sounds like a neighbor with an agenda.

I have State Farm and have a line item that says something to the effect of "new item replacement" which means that while they do depreciate the cost of the roof over time, my policy says they'll cover a full replacement regardless of age.  It's an extra you have pay more for, but it's minimal and I think it's worth it.    I had my 15 yr old roof replaced last year due to storm damage.  They assume the life of the roof is 30 yrs so the depreciated value was about half the cost of a new one.  So I basically got 2 checks.  The 1st check was for that depreciated value.  The 2nd check covered the rest of the replacement but they sent it only after I sent them a signed contract with the roofer.  I only got the balance of the full cost after the work was done.  I found that a bit annoying, but I also understand why they do that.

In addition to the chisel, screwdriver, etc. I'll add a torch. Heat up around the seal, that should help it pop loose. All else fails, have it towed back to the shop that installed it and make them fix it. If they've buggered the filter threads, that won't be cheap. But such is the price of stupidity. Every oil filter I've ever seen has instructions to install by hand only.

  Just little stuff like time, money, ....     I work with a number of avid hunters, unfortunately most all of them hunt leased property that's several hours to a whole day's drive away.  They tend to go for a whole weekend.  With two little kids, I'm not in a position to swing that just yet.    In a twist of irony, my parents got a nuisance permit from TWRA a few years ago.  While they're only about 2 hrs away, the permit only allows a few "authorized hunters" other than the land owner, and I'm not one of them.    :shrug:   Having never hunted deer before, I'm not real comfortable just having a go all by myself during the season.      Dad's never been a hunter.  His version of deer hunting is sitting in a lawn chair in his driveway drinking coffee with a .30-30 across his knees.  And yes, he's gotten a few that way.  When Mom used to leave early in the morning, she'd have to honk the horn to get the deer off the driveway so she could leave.  So much for scent control and hunting the wind...   :lol:   If I could find someone who hunts locally, I'd be willing to just tag along and not actually hunt just to get a better idea of how to go about it.

  Because this is TN and laws are written by lawyers....     At the end of the day, I'm not aware of a single case in which a person has been convicted of carrying in the wrong place without extenuating circumstances.

You should call Nashville. Knox co sheriff, and Knox city PD, and post the answers you get. Then we'll all get a laugh because none of them will be correct.

    While the above is correct, determining the difference between a city park and a county park isn't the easiest thing.  Knowing when you're on UT property also isn't the easiest thing. 

Low quality aluminum castings can have a significant amount of entrained hydrogen gas in the form of porosity.  Heat cycles will cause the aluminum to crack, and very high heat could melt the aluminum and release the hydrogen.  It only takes a little hydrogen to make a big boom.    Do I think that's really possible?  No.  I think someone put something in the fire. 

Great read, thanks!  I've been talking about starting deer hunting for several years but just haven't.  At the very least, it sounds like a good excuse to get out into the woods.
