  1. Sorry to hear that.
  2. LEDs are great for small lights or lighting small areas, but they still haven't gotten the color and diffusion quite right for big shop lights. Big fluorescent fixtures still work much better.
  3. I've been very happy with my Taurus PT145. They don't make that model anymore, but the newer ones are very similar.
  4. Take it down, politely explain why, and offer to go with her to find something more appropriate. My wife bought a huge wreath for our front door. I made a comment about it being somewhat large. She said she was afraid the smaller one would block the peep hole. They catch on eventually. ... Or, use it as an excuse to buy a security camera. :)
  5. Welcome!
  6. I still think its oak. Yes the red color in box elder or spalted maple is from fungus (rot).
  7. We've been there a number of times, though not terribly recently (sad to admit that). The range and the people have always been nice enough. We need to go back soon so my wife can try out her new Shield. :)
  8. My parents go to church with a neurosurgeon in Chattanooga, though I think he may have retired recently. The part about the absurd malpractice insurance premiums is quite true. Dad has a friend who was making huge money as a anesthesiologist, but quit when his malpractice premium surpassed $1M/yr.
  9. I'm somewhat obligated to pull for FSU simply because they're in the ACC. Mostly I just hope it's a good game.
  10. Sissies. Real men pick up their chainsaw... :) http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=brfKKehFtmw
  11. I do better identifying by leaves than bark, but it looks like oak to me.
  12. Wow. Never heard of that approach. Of all people to approach in a setup like that, you'd be pretty low on the list.
  13. True dat. Fwiw, rattle can stuff works reasonably well. If you don't care what it looks like, get creative! Maybe the local school art and autobody classes could use a free subject.
  14. Saw a tv spot on the town in Oregon a while back, forget which channel. Not surprisingly the tv folks were pushing the vigilante vibe, but it mostly seemed like rural country folk looking out for one another.
  15. The only one I actually subscribe to is American Rifleman. I get Dad's hand-me-downs of Field and Stream, Outdoor Life, Shooting, and possibly a couple others. Dad gets LOTS of magazines.
  16. It also doesn't account for the number of people who aren't eligible for a permit. Probably not a large number, but could make a difference.
  17. Sand it down to bare metal, prime, and repaint.
  18. Merry Christmas folks!
  19. I think we all could use a trip out behind the barn from time to time.
  20. Duly noted. Seems like they work on everything else...
  21. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uR_fsrYqZHk
  22. Ok bin laden, now you get yours.
  23. My family doesn't really have any particular traditions. My wife's family's tradition is to yell "Christmas Gift!" at one another when they first see each other. The first to say it is the winner.
  24. Baked BBQ chicken. Baked because it's frickin cold out, I'm sick (merry Christmas to me), and I don't feel like standing outside to grill it. Plus baked beans, and a veggie of some sort.
