  1. Do some searching on using some cheap pistol (or maybe shotgun) scopes on Mosin's.  I recall that being all the rage a while back.
  2.     Good, now you have a goal to work toward.  ;)     It's a Russian battle rifle not known for it's accuracy with a safety mechanism that lots of people don't even know exists.  Most of those who do know, don't use it.  Somehow a glassy smooth 2lb trigger seems incongruous to me.  The trigger in mine isn't that bad.  It's a little heavy, but not objectionable.  YMMV.
  3.     Ah, the joys of home ownership.  It's the American dream, just keep telling yourself that.  :)         This man is a genius.  And I feel really stupid for not thinking of that.  Twice.
  4.     I've seen it plenty of times before and understand that it's supposed to be a farce.  I just think it's in poor taste, particularly the picture of the headstone.  Kids have access to this place.  While they may not understand all the language, the picture is pretty clear.  I don't want to have to explain that to my kids.
  5. Gotta love the Taurus hate.  My PT145 has been great.  It's a good thing S&W and Springfield haven't had any recent handgun recalls, and we all know that a Glock has never broken in recorded history....    Anyway... what do you intend for this gun?  Home defense, carry, plinking, ....?  All of the above?   There's almost too many choices these days.   The PT92 is a fine choice.  There's probably a couple dozen others that fit the bill as well.  As other folks have said, go to a shop and/or a range and try out as many as you can lay hands on.  Find what fits your hand, eye, and budget the best.
  6. If that's legit and it's in good shape, yes that's quite a deal
  7. I'd call Predator Customs and ask them for a referral. I work with a couple guys who do good wood work. I can ask if either of them are interested.
  8. Or at least until 3/4 of the way through the month when his credit card has had enough abuse. :)
  9. Regarding Santa, logic has nothing to do with it.
  10. Sportsmans guide typically has a good bit of stuff.
  11.     FTFY.    Obviously there's not enough of those rural conservative folk to make a difference in the polls.
  12. Needs a rear sight or an optic...
  13. Mucho sucko! Damn thieves.
  14. Indeed.
  15. Geez, tough crowd.
  16. He's an excellent actor. Secondhand Lions, Open Range, and Gone in 60 Seconds (the new one) immediately come to mind. Can't forget the Godfather series and Apocalypse Now. Best Western actor... toss up between Clint Eastwood and John Wayne.
  17. How often do you guys clean your strops and how do you do it?
  18. If a FAL isn't built properly, they can double or triple on occasion. I'm sure that would be classified as "full auto" for sensationalist purposes.
  19. I've installed deeper sinks in 2 houses so far. Generally, it's easy and you can cut the existing pipes and make it fit with minor effort. Just make sure the drain lines run downhill and what dolomite said about the dishwasher line. Even if you have to redo some of it, PVC is cheap and easy. If you're installing a cast iron sink, keep in mind that they're really freakin heavy. Check the counter tops around the sink and make sure it's all well supported. I had to add some braces and shims both times. Use plenty of plumbers putty around the sink, faucet, and the drains. Oh, and good luck taking the disposer off the old sink. I've no idea why, but both times it took literally 45 minutes to get that nut off. I think they installed it with an impact or something....
  20. You'll just have to do your homework and make sure you know the state laws, local laws and ordinances, and where the city limits are. Most of the time it's all available online. If not, you can call or visit the county courthouse. The vast majority of cities prohibit discharge of a firearm within city limits. There may be other requirements regarding proximity to buildings, noise, etc.
  21. Many years ago while cleaning an old truck Dad decided to sell, I found probably 2 weeks worth of MRE's from the mid '70's in a box under the seat.    I didn't think about it at the time, but I REALLY wish he hadn't sold that truck.  It would've been really cool to fix up.
  22.     I have a 50 gallon rain barrel at the house.  The water in that thing gets beyond disgusting.  It's a purpose made rain barrel with a screen on the inlet and it still gets lots of gunk in it.  Every other year or so (when I can't stand the smell) I clean a couple inches of nasty sludge out of the bottom of it.      Come to think of it... this happened in WV in the middle of winter.  Surely there was plenty of snow to be had.
  23. Welcome!
