  1. Add a mosin to the comparison and you get this...  http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinHumor.htm
  2.     You can get a Holden at your local Chevy dealer right now, minus the stick  ( )    http://www.chevrolet.com/ss-sports-sedan.html     That said, I've vowed to never own a Kia or a Hyundai (same company).  I spent about 5 years of my auto parts designing life working with them.  They were by far, the worst customers to deal with.  They never knew what they wanted or why they wanted it, but they wanted it right f-ing now.  I realize there was a considerable communication barrier, but I've never dealt with a more clueless group of engineers in my life (and I work with a bunch of UT grads...  :taunt:  ).   They didn't have the slightest understanding of anything they were doing, they just copied whatever the Japanese did, kinda like China now.    Granted, all that was 10+ years ago and they do seem to make pretty good cars now, but that experience cured me of any desire to buy one of their cars.
  3. I bet it would be a pretty ugly flame with gasoline. I've been tempted to try mine with some liquid Coleman fuel I have for my old camp stove. Gotta wait for a calm day and try that outside... don't want to burn the house down. Here's a pic of mine...
  4.     Just depends on the wicking/penetrating properties of the oil.  Any sort of purpose made penetrating oil (WD-40, Kroil, PB Blaster, etc.) could penetrate the space between the bullet and the case.  Whether or not enough gets in there to cause a misfire depends on time and amount.    Try it and find out.  Put a bullet in a ziplock bag, spray a bunch of oil in it, seal it up, and leave for a couple days.
  5.     If plastic drums start rusting, you have bigger worries.  :)   Unsealed concrete wicks water up out of the ground.  You'll notice that anything you sit on top of a concrete stepping stone or cement blocks will be wet on the bottom.  That moisture will cause steel drums to corrode.  You can reduce, but not eliminate the effect by adding a moisture barrier (plastic sheeting) between the concrete and the ground.  Plywood or a pallet works well too.          Keep in mind that a full 55 gal barrel weighs about 400 lbs.  Given its shape, it'll be incredibly difficult to move without a barrel dolly.    I have a 50 gal purpose made rain barrel.  The water that ends up in it is quite nasty.  It'd take some serious purifying before I'd drink it.    And also keep in mind that most people have at least 40 gallons of fresh water readily available... in your water heater.
  6. The plywood is to prevent metal drums from rusting. The drums should be sealed with minimal air space. Use food grade drums. New ones aren't particularly cheap. Used ones can sometimes be had for free, though your water may pick up some taste from whatever it previously contained.
  7. How do you define "craft" whiskey?  I assume we're excluding the big names... Jack, Jim, Crown, etc.  Does stuff like Buffalo Trace or Four Roses qualify?
  8. Law Enforcement Sales TN... he's a vendor here located in Oak Ridge.
  9.     There's so much in that statement, I don't know where to start...  (and I agree with you).
  10.     Oh trust me, I know.  Having walked into a few closed doors and through a wall once...  :ugh:  ... walking through the wall hurt a lot less.    :)
  11.     Way cheaper and easier to install while still building than after it's done.  I feel sure our resident alarm expert will chime in shortly.
  12. Maybe if cops got paid more than $10/hr, they might not feel the need to sell their gear.
  13.   I like how all 3 guys are swaying with the one who's swinging the hammer.  Given all the camera's around, I'd say that was staged (and poorly planned).   Looks like a steel security door in a steel frame.  They would've gotten in faster just going through the wall.
  14.     Ouch.  Just when you think your job sucks...   My first (and only) line of defense for water loss is my water heater.  But if the supply got contaminated like it did in WV, I'd be digging a solar still in the back yard.  I need to put a couple big water containers on my list.
  15. Yep.  3 deg here this morning.  I took a snow day from work yesterday and played with the kiddos.  While that was great fun, that's about enough of this single digit cold crap.
  16. I'd still have a "plan b".
  17. While I find a tomahawk as cool as the next guy, am I the only one that thinks a hatchet would be far more useful? Seems like the hammer end of the hatchet be a lot handier than the pike. That and I'd probably impale myself on it.
  18. Water line freeze and break?
  19. The only problem with meth is that it doesn't kill people fast enough. I hope things get sorted quickly.
  20. You know a company is bad when they have to change their name to stay in business.
  21. A good idea, but I suspect that in that scenario, sharing isn't going to be a real popular idea.
  22. Mmmmmm..... Stuffed mushrooms. One of my favorite treats. Now I have to put mushrooms on the grocery list.
  23. I started a beard before Christmas and have been looking for some beard oil to help with dry skin. Is that stuff sold in stores, or just online? My wife actually likes the beard.
  24. It was 28 deg outside for the shooting portion of my permit class. The girl that shot next to me had her Sig go bang, bang, click repeatedly. The instructor that stripped it said it was massively over lubricated and the oil had gelled in the cold. The instructors made several comments about how all the high dollar pistols quit working in the cold while the cheap ones ran fine. The tight fits and tolerances are great until it gets cold. Add in way too much lubricant and you have a very expensive hammer.
  25. If the fumes were that strong, you'd be dead before the gun was clean.
