  1. Got a little a snow overnight, but the thermometer is quick climbing toward 50 deg. Bring on the warm!!
  2. What they said.... Kroil, WD-40, PB Blaster, etc. are for cleaning and loosening stuck things. I use 3-in-1 oil for lubricating or protecting and I use silicone grease on things that slide. The only "all in one" thing I use is CLP, and that's mostly for trigger assemblies that I don't want to take apart.
  3. A little while ago I learned that the stove makes a pretty good unintentional beard trimmer. I had a quick kid toy repair to do in the garage. It was a little chilly and my stove was sitting there so I thought I'd fire it up. Apparently I got a little too close to the flame. The damage was minor but if you think burned hair smells bad from a distance, it's worse when it's right under your nose.
  4. You won't have any trouble selling it, if that's what you decide to do. Carbines typically go pretty fast.
  5. Speed week already started and ended for me.... The Rolex 24 was 2 weeks ago.
  6. As Garufa said, kroil or other penetrating oil. If that doesn't work, heat.
  7. Cool. Wish I had friends giving away mosins.
  8. I'll reverse part of my statement above... I would shoot my .380 at 50 yds on a range. I'm not sure if I could hit the broad sign of a barn at that range, but it would be fun to find out. But shoot at a person defensively? Only if I didn't have any choice. I have shot my full size 9mm off hand at 200 yds. It took about 10 rds and a spotter to dial in in the Kentucky windage, but it was surprisingly accurate.... roughly 24" group which I thought wasn't bad.
  9. I'd be happy to meet and chat with folks about various things. Anytime I've been to a shoot, we do as much shooting the breeze as shooting at targets.
  10. I guess I miss the point. Of course a bigger gun is better. A rifle is better yet. Artillery is yet another step, though it's kinda heavy to carry around all day. I wouldn't dream of shooting my .380 at 50 yds, that's not what it's for.
  11. Not bad for such a small pistol that's not real easy to shoot well. Good for her!
  12.     A fool and his money are soon parted...
  13.  I can't believe they've left the museum open and only closed that one area.  I wouldn't go anywhere near it.  Mammoth Cave is just down the road from there... it's prime area for sink holes.
  14. We got my 6 yr old one of these for Christmas ...  http://www.hobbytown.com/Shop/-Ares-Chronos-CX100-Ultra-Micro-RTF-Heli-w/Camera/   It's pretty easy to fly, but we haven't tried out the camera yet.  It's fairly quiet but as Dolomite said, you'll have to spend a pretty penny to get one with adequate range and endurance to do any real scouting with it.
  15. Best I am aware, carry is currently prohibited in Chattanooga city parks regardless of signage and the proposed law would make it legal, regardless of signage.
  16. Sorry for your loss.   Good advice... get a will and at least a modest life insurance policy, especially if you have kids.  In TN a will needs to witnessed and notarized to be valid.  If the will isn't valid and the heirs dispute what's in it, you'll end up in court.  And if you think a funeral is expensive...

Nice. A friend learned that if you bleed on nurse's paperwork at the ER, you get in a lot faster.
  18. You need a hosting service such as photobucket or smugmug. If you're interested in smugmug, I'll send you a discount code.
  19.     Yep, it's fading fast. Likely to be some nasty icy spots when all the runoff freezes over night.      edit... yep, definitely some slick spots this morning.  Talked to Dad yesterday afternoon, he said they had 10" at the house in Soddy and lost power for about 18 hrs.  It came back on while we were talking and he said... "You should have called hours ago!"

  21. Cool.  Didn't know parts were available to build one from scratch.
  22.     Cabela's makes Gander Mtn look like a Dollar General.  I've bought a fair bit of stuff from Cabela's over the years and it's all been first rate.
  23.         What is it about dogs and snow?  My dog loves it too.  She ran around like a lunatic while I shoveled the driveway.  Not that my tossing shovel-fulls of snow at her had anything to do with that...
  24.     I know the ceiling isn't insulated and I doubt the walls are.  Builders are so f'ing cheap.  :shake:
  25.     Hmmmm.... that could be dangerous.
