  1. I'm a wanna be carpenter.  I enjoy it, but I'm not very good at it.  Dad is a good carpenter.  He's gotten into turning and makes some pretty cool stuff on his lathes.    As for wood.... I'd also suggest you look up local saw mills and see what they've got.  Without paying a fortune for it, I suspect you'll have to get rough sawed lumber and go from there yourself.  A local custom cabinet maker might be able to point you toward a source or two.
  2.     Interesting.    Not sure I'd survive without my morning cereal.  Eggs & bacon sounds good but I doubt the wife and kids would appreciate me banging around in the kitchen to fix that at o'dark thirty.  I've got 2 young kids so there is no real rationing of milk.  They drink tea and water but we still go through about 2 gal/wk.  I'm anxiously awaiting garden season and really hoping for a better year than last year.  The garden reduces my grocery bill significantly.  My wife loves baking bread, but she typically makes various types of "artisan" breads.  Don't know that she's ever made regular sandwich bread.
  3. I'm interested in lucky #13, but that's highly dependent on the price.
  4. Depends on whether I've got a kid on my back. If not, it's the usual .45 on my belt. If so, the .380 in my pocket. I usually carry bear spray too.
  5. Bring it! Was a typically stupid omission from the wine on grocery stores law that just passed.
  6.   Care to share how you pull that off?
  7. To the OP... before we had kids, $250-$300/mo.  After kids.... I quit keeping track because I don't want to know.            Keep the bread in the fridge.  You'll get at least another week out of it.  If you find it on sale, buy a couple loaves and freeze them.          :stunned:            :panic:                  Wow.    My wife appears to collect coupons.  We have a large stack that she cuts out of various ads.  Periodically, I go through that stack and throw away the expired ones.  She may actually use more coupons than I think, but it's nothing like what your wife does.  That's seriously impressive.
  8. Send the trigger group to Kivarri, you'll be astounded at the difference.
  9. Got a Shield 9 for the wife.  Darn sweet shooting little 9mm.  POI is a little to the left for me, but its fine for her and easily fixed regardless.  Next time PSA runs a sale, get one.

    Club comparison

Crossville and Athens are both pretty small towns.  I'd say Athens is a little bigger, but not by much.  Since Crossville is up on the plateau, it's a bit  cooler year round.  That means more snow/ice in the winter but not quite so hot in the summer.  I know zip about their gun clubs and will echo wk05's comment about ORSA.
  11. Chalkboard paint... interesting.
  12. Sheesh... who wouldn't want an SKS-M?
  13.     Apparently a 16 yr old can be a blood & guts loon... http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/04/09/franklin-regional-students-reaction/7510627/   Strange times indeed.

  15. Looks nice!
  16. Shouldn't need to use the brakes much at all. Shift to a lower gear and maintain a steady pace. The majority of vehicles will generate at least 0.7g cornering force. The majority of drivers chicken out at about 0.4g.
  17. Glad she's feeling better.
  18. You should get one and verify that for us. :)
  19. He means when he's bought loose ammo in bulk. My only additional advice is to be aware of how heavy ammo is and make sure the floor you're stacking it on is up to the task. Typical residential wood framed floors are design for 40 lbs/sqft.

Legos rock! I'm glad that my kids enjoy them. I have way too many hobbies... motorcycles, guitar, photography, golf, hiking, sleeping, ...
  21. I remember those pics but don't recall hearing any follow up... that really sucks.
  22. Cool idea.  I've already got one of those lock boxes... hmmmm.
  23.     I didn't mean to imply that a military sub (LA or VA class, et al) itself could go that deep, it most certainly can't.  At least it won't come back up from that deep.  Most guesses are their test depth is in the 1500-1800 ft range, so crush depth may be 2500 ft.    My assumption is they heard the pings with their passive sonar and possibly sent an ROV down to confirm.  It would be relatively easy to "see" what's down there by banging away with active sonar, but doing so would reveal capabilities we'd rather other folks didn't know.
  24. I think the engraving on the handle is gorgeous.  The engraving on the blade, not so much.    Though one might think that if one were to make such a high-end patriotic knife, one might have the engraving done in the USA.  And it doesn't specify where the rest of it was made.
