  1. I think the engraving on the handle is gorgeous.  The engraving on the blade, not so much.    Though one might think that if one were to make such a high-end patriotic knife, one might have the engraving done in the USA.  And it doesn't specify where the rest of it was made.
  2.     Yep.  You came here for the curves, why are you straightening them?   :squint:                 Yes.  If you see a motorcycle riding slowly and frantically waving at you... be prepared to vacate the road quickly.  There's several spots where an entire tractor and 53' trailer can hide and then magically appear right in front of you.    Personally, I think the 53' trailers should be restricted.  Since they cannot pass that stretch of road in a legal manner, they shouldn't be allowed or an escort should be required.  I seem to recall that it's physically not possibly to pass through legally with a trailer longer than about 30ft.
  3. I suspect a sub found it. But in order to protect the sub's capabilities, they've just told the surface ships where to look so they can "officially" find it. Keep in mind that they're looking in water roughly 12,000 ft deep.
  4. A pocket knife and a leatherman. Can't carry at work.
  5. Got a Shield 9 for the wife, it's nice.  Got a P3AT for me.  Not as nice as the Shield, but its quite a bit smaller and serves the the purpose.
  6. Keep in mind that the shiny brass finish fades and peels over time.
  7. Deadbolts are cheap. I'd feel weird without one.
  8. The cover charges have gotten ridiculous. That's the main reason I haven't been to a show in years. Shipping charges are worth it.
  9. I'll be getting this for my AR.  Just like an A1 but a little shorter.    http://www.cavmfg.com/C1-Buttstock-C1.htm
  10.     ... which pretty much guarantees that my employer will go to 8.   :-\
  11. If you don't care to spend the $20 and install it, go for it and let us know the results.
  12. R_Bert is on the money with suggestions.  Your biggest issue with shooting on your own property will likely be noise complaints.    Welcome to the area.
  13. I wouldn't continue with XP due to the perceived/real vulnerability.  Upgrade to Win7.  It's got some nice features that may or may not be any better than XP, but its been fine so far.  You should be able to find an OEM install disk for under $100, that's what I did.  Same as above, I've heard that Win8 is great if you've got a touch screen, but not so great otherwise.
  14.     I'll add that to the list of reasons why I don't use tapatalk.           Yep.
  15. With honey bees being on the decline, I've thought about getting into bee keeping.  Seems like a fair bit of work, but might be worth it.    I'm not allergic to honey bees and generally find them to be quite docile.  I've never been stung by a bee that I didn't accidentally piss off.  Yellow jackets on the other hand...   :bat:
  16.   While in theory, there's already a moisture barrier between the concrete and your carpet, I would put something like a piece of tyvek house wrap between the safe and the floor.              Up to you...  IMHO, if a thief wants it, they'll get it.  Bolting it down will only slow a dedicated thief down a minute or so.  I think the safe alone would deter the "smash & grab" type, assuming its a big heavy one.  If it was light enough that a couple guys could get it with an appliance dolly, I'd bolt it down.  The doors on some safes can be heavy enough that the safe may be unstable when the door is fully open and it's not bolted down.
  17. Depends on how heavy the safe is and how easy/difficult it is to move it.  If it's bolted down, jammed full of stuff, and weighs 9000 lbs.... moving it to replace that square of carpet under it can be rather a task.
  18. Yep.  I didn't get back to a computer before they were gone.  *whew*   The wait continues....   :waiting:
  19. I remember what you're asking about.  I may remember that the guy was in the Chattanooga area.    That said, any local machine shop with a water jet, laser, or plasma cutter should be able to make one for you.  When I lived near you, I did a significant amount of business with Master Tool & Die in Kingsport.
  20. Messing with a man's dog is a good way to get oneself hurt. Glad it worked out ok.
  21. Welcome!
  22. You guys are working hard to talk me into this.  I've been waiting on their premium mid-length with standard barrel to go on sale for my TGO lower.  They've had the heavy barrel on sale several times, but not the standard.  Somehow putting a PTAC upper on my TGO lower seems wrong.  Decisions, decisions....
  23.     Unless you've got special soaker hoses made specifically for a gravity fed system, they won't work.  Most soaker hoses are made to work off standard house water pressure ... 70 psi or so.  Your barrel will only generate about 2 psi.
  24. Packs do come in "torso" sizes.  Visit a local outfitter type place and they should be able to fit you.  Most hiking packs say what range torso they fit.   http://www.backpacker.com/videos_pick_the_perfect_pack_measure_your_torso_length/videos/10   http://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/backpacks-torso-hip-size.html   How you have the straps adjusted and how you pack the weight inside it can also make a huge difference in how a pack fits and how well it carries the load.   That said, I'm a little bigger than you at 5'7" & 160 and I've got a medium Camelbak similar to this.  Having the hip belt makes a big difference as weight increases...  http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___82696
