  1.     Apparently a 16 yr old can be a blood & guts loon... http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/04/09/franklin-regional-students-reaction/7510627/   Strange times indeed.

    Bikes.... Photography....
  3. Looks nice!
  4. Shouldn't need to use the brakes much at all. Shift to a lower gear and maintain a steady pace. The majority of vehicles will generate at least 0.7g cornering force. The majority of drivers chicken out at about 0.4g.
  5. Glad she's feeling better.
  6. You should get one and verify that for us. :)
  7. He means when he's bought loose ammo in bulk. My only additional advice is to be aware of how heavy ammo is and make sure the floor you're stacking it on is up to the task. Typical residential wood framed floors are design for 40 lbs/sqft.

Legos rock! I'm glad that my kids enjoy them. I have way too many hobbies... motorcycles, guitar, photography, golf, hiking, sleeping, ...
  9. I remember those pics but don't recall hearing any follow up... that really sucks.
  10. Cool idea.  I've already got one of those lock boxes... hmmmm.
  11.     I didn't mean to imply that a military sub (LA or VA class, et al) itself could go that deep, it most certainly can't.  At least it won't come back up from that deep.  Most guesses are their test depth is in the 1500-1800 ft range, so crush depth may be 2500 ft.    My assumption is they heard the pings with their passive sonar and possibly sent an ROV down to confirm.  It would be relatively easy to "see" what's down there by banging away with active sonar, but doing so would reveal capabilities we'd rather other folks didn't know.
  12. I think the engraving on the handle is gorgeous.  The engraving on the blade, not so much.    Though one might think that if one were to make such a high-end patriotic knife, one might have the engraving done in the USA.  And it doesn't specify where the rest of it was made.
  13.     Yep.  You came here for the curves, why are you straightening them?   :squint:                 Yes.  If you see a motorcycle riding slowly and frantically waving at you... be prepared to vacate the road quickly.  There's several spots where an entire tractor and 53' trailer can hide and then magically appear right in front of you.    Personally, I think the 53' trailers should be restricted.  Since they cannot pass that stretch of road in a legal manner, they shouldn't be allowed or an escort should be required.  I seem to recall that it's physically not possibly to pass through legally with a trailer longer than about 30ft.
  14. I suspect a sub found it. But in order to protect the sub's capabilities, they've just told the surface ships where to look so they can "officially" find it. Keep in mind that they're looking in water roughly 12,000 ft deep.
  15. A pocket knife and a leatherman. Can't carry at work.
  16. Got a Shield 9 for the wife, it's nice.  Got a P3AT for me.  Not as nice as the Shield, but its quite a bit smaller and serves the the purpose.
  17. Keep in mind that the shiny brass finish fades and peels over time.
  18. Deadbolts are cheap. I'd feel weird without one.
  19. The cover charges have gotten ridiculous. That's the main reason I haven't been to a show in years. Shipping charges are worth it.
  20. I'll be getting this for my AR.  Just like an A1 but a little shorter.    http://www.cavmfg.com/C1-Buttstock-C1.htm
  21.     ... which pretty much guarantees that my employer will go to 8.   :-\
  22. If you don't care to spend the $20 and install it, go for it and let us know the results.
  23. R_Bert is on the money with suggestions.  Your biggest issue with shooting on your own property will likely be noise complaints.    Welcome to the area.
  24. I wouldn't continue with XP due to the perceived/real vulnerability.  Upgrade to Win7.  It's got some nice features that may or may not be any better than XP, but its been fine so far.  You should be able to find an OEM install disk for under $100, that's what I did.  Same as above, I've heard that Win8 is great if you've got a touch screen, but not so great otherwise.
