An exceptionally useless mongrel hound dog mix. We think she's mostly blue heeler and dalmatian, which I wouldn't wish on anyone.

So maybe there is some benefit to having 'yotes around...

It is pretty fast and easy when you're alone on a range, standing square to the target, and drawing whenever you feel ready. He does do that faster than I expected.

Yet again.... cool.

You're the one that said it was "killer" jerky.... :) -
Congrats! Good shooting!

Could be mineral deposits from hard water. That's because alcohol is hygroscopic.... it absorbs water out of the air. Hence the reason ethanol in gasoline is so bad for older small engines... but that's another thread.
-
In my experience with PSA... that's completely normal. Sometimes its a couple days, sometimes it's a couple weeks. You will get it eventually.

I'm not a Jeep guy necessarily.... but I'd pass. If you want a Jeep as a 2nd vehicle, get the 6 cyl Cherokee. Grand Cherokee's aren't exactly the most reliable vehicles. As stated, the rebuilt suspension suggests the current owner is either anal about that kind of thing or wore it out. The check engine light.... get used to that, it'll continue coming on. It's a never-ending problem with older cars. The gas... unless you've got a very short commute, you'll burn through that $230 faster than you think. I have several coworkers who've parked their trucks in favor of compact cars. Even with the $350/mo car payment, they're still saving money compared to gas and tires on their trucks.

Coming to realize how big an >4 inch blade really is

That's a good indication of the priority given to knowledge of gun and knife laws. A significant percentage don't know those laws because it's not something they deal with regularly (which is a good thing). It'd be nice if they all understood all the laws, but I doubt even the AG could make that claim. -
The women's razors work better because the blades are a little thicker and a little sharper. And same as you, the 10 pack would last me at least 6 months when I shaved every other day.

I also practice drawing and sight acquisition more than anything else but I'm sure I don't do that often enough. Surefire has a free shot timer app that I use. It won't (or I can't get it to) recognize dry firing, but the random delay on the beeper works well enough.

And I'm sure litigation will be introduced as well.

I've tried a a couple electric razors and they're all "tug and yank" instead of "lift and cut" for me. I guess they work for guys with very fine beards, mine's much too coarse. Between that and their high price.... I've always used cheap disposable razors and Edge Gel with adequate results. Last fall I grew a beard so now I only have to shave my neck and a few random hairs on my cheeks a couple times per week. I trim my mustache about once/week and my wife trims the beard when she cuts my hair about once/month. I should've grown a beard years ago.

Somehow I doubt carrying a knife has any impact on either one of us looking like a lunatic... :D I think that 5" knife would cause me to limp after a couple hours. Imagine sitting on a park bench cleaning your fingernails (or teeth!) with that thing. -

I do carry two knives. A cheap NRA folder in my pocket and the blade in my leatherman on my belt. The folder gets way more use. From what I've seen, a big folder is so thick as to be unpractical for carry... excepting that monster OS has, which is just hilarious. I'd love to carry that thing around just for the reactions (see the video above) :). -
I went to Hawaii prolly 25 years ago as part of a school trip. For me, Pearl Harbor is about the only draw now. My wife wants to go but it's horrendously expensive now. To me, the beach is the beach. It doesn't matter where.

Depends on the type of gun. Is it striker fired or hammer fired? If it's got an exposed hammer, you should be able to cock the hammer manually without a round in the chamber. Some designed have a cocked and locked position (traditional 1911's) and some have a half cock position. If it's a "decocker" model, engaging the safety with the hammer cocked will decock the hammer.... the hammer will fall but not hit the firing pin. If it's striker fired, just racking the slide will put the internal hammer (the striker) in a half cocked position and the safety can then be engaged. With that design, you can't really have the gun fully cocked and locked as part of the trigger pull completes cocking the hammer before releasing it.

Excuse me while I whip this out.... :) http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5PmnKOkt7fI I also can't imagine carrying anything bigger than 4" daily. Been carrying something about that size for dang near 40 years... Why change now? ;) Other than camping or just for show, a knife much bigger than that gets unwieldy... unless your name is Spots. -
I've said this a bunch of times in a bunch of threads.... Most people wouldn't notice if you were on fire. Most of those who would notice, wouldn't do anything about it. As phones continue to grow from big, to huge, to just plain absurd, people are accustomed to seeing bulges on waistlines and in pockets.

1. If you don't pull the trigger (or do something exceptionally stupid), it won't fire. Period. I have a 3 yr old and 6 yr old. They climb all over me. While I'm conscious of it, short of them sticking their hands in my pocket and pulling the gun out of the holster that covers the trigger... it's just an assembly of metal and plastic no more dangerous than my phone. They're more likely to hurt themselves on my pocket knife than my pistol. 2. I'm nerdy and can, to some extent, understand simple mechanical things like trigger mechanisms. Even beyond the whole argument about how a gun with no bullets is a hammer... its simple logic, the trigger mechanism is designed such that the firing pin will not hit the primer with enough force to cause a discharge without pulling the trigger.

I have cousins in MI that home schooled their kids (7, combined) for many years, but let them finish in regular high schools specifically to avoid issues with lack of a "real" diploma. All of the kids are bright and well adjusted and haven't had any issues with the change that I'm aware of.
