We've given our dog Valium (vet Rx) in the past to help settle her after she's had a seizure (canine epilepsy). It worked, she conked right out.

TN Bill 1774 -- Lawful carry in vehicle without permit
peejman replied to RoDan's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Heh... I'm not so lazy after all and found this... http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/79761-metro-pd-encounter/?p=1162965 thanky. :hat: And I'm glad that changed... it never made much sense to me, though that applies to lots of things. :) -
TN Bill 1774 -- Lawful carry in vehicle without permit

Forgive my ignorance and being too lazy to look it up.... Does this change the laws around loaded/round-in-chamber with long guns? -
The kids like fireworks except for the really loud ones. Ear muffs seem to help with that. Our dog won't wear ear muffs  and gets so worked up she destroys things. Like door frames, curtains, and porch screens. It's made me grow to dislike fireworks related holidays because we can't go anywhere. :-\

Cool idea. $15 shipped seems a little steep but not outrageous.

Agreed. I think perhaps we have different ideas of what constitutes a drone. I'm not referring to something like a Predator, I'm thinking of the little RC planes or quadrotors. They could easily do a number of the tasks a regular helo does at drastically reduced cost without endangering people.
-
No reasonable use for drones? You'd rather they spend $2000/hr of your tax money on a real helicopter?
-
It would indeed. I vote me. :)

Metallica - Through the Never: An IMAX 3D Experience
peejman replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
I'm a die hard fan too, I like their whole catalog. I saw it in the theater and my only complaint was the lack of volume. I didn't have to yell directly into my wife's ear to be heard, so clearly it wasn't loud enough. :) It's a strange plot/story with strange characters and themes and a strange end.... so similar to every video they've ever made. I still think the rider would be the coolest Halloween costume ever. -
Something big is getting ready to kick off

Yes, I work near the airport, our building is in the pattern. They fly over almost constantly. It's not uncommon to see a P3 or an E3. Here lately I've seen a couple Harriers, which I find exceptionally cool. We've also seen T-38's and T-45's, and even the odd F-18 or EA-6B come and go. Haven't seen a V-22 in a long time but they've been around and they do make a strange sound. -
My wife has a Pistol Wear belly band. She says it's very comfortable but concealment isn't quite as good as she'd hoped. Seems to work best when worn pretty low.

Holy crap! I think I'd wheel that thing out and park it in the driveway.

I hope there's some satisfactory resolution of the cause. Prayers for the family.

Garufa is correct, you have no legal obligation to inform the officer in TN. The only time I've been stopped, I handed over my DL and HCP at the same time. Seemed like the easiest way to inform the officer with minimal excitement.

Welcome! If you've got questions about the area, just holler. :)

Just now saw this post. Apologies if I came across as an arse. I guess being anal and being an arse kinda go hand in hand. Or would that be arse in arse? ;)

Perhaps he doesn't understand the law. Perhaps he's thinking of another state that does issue a CCW permit... I think KY and MS issue one, but I'm not sure and I'm too lazy to look it up at the moment. Or maybe he's just not anal about the nomenclature like we are. :)

From what I've read, these functioned like pre-beta samples. To paraphrase prior conversations I've had.... Manager - "The cost is too high, we've got to implement these changes to get the cost down to our target before launch". (because I won't get my fat bonus check if we don't) Engineer - "Those changes haven't been validated. We need another 8 weeks for that." Manager - "No, the timeline isn't going to change. You have to accelerate the validation program." Engineer - "I can't. It takes time to produce the hardware and run the tests. 9 women can't have a baby in a month." <- yes, I actually said that once. Manager - "Just implement them. You can smooth out the rough edges later." Engineer - "It's a lot more than just rough edges... Launch could be a total train wreck." Manager - "Whatever, either reduce the cost or senior management will go nuts." Engineer - "Fine, you're the boss. But this will probably be ugly." *train wreck occurs* Manager - "You idiots! Can't you do anything?! I'm sorry mr. senior manager, I have no idea what these dang engineers were thinking not validating those changes...."

NSSF Issues Statement on ‘Operation Choke Point’
peejman replied to JohnC's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
FTFY. If I were these folks, I'd gang up and file a class action discrimination suit. -
Ask them where one gets this CCW permit as TN only issues a HCP.
-
Easy, "design by committee" combined with program managers that don't know or care how the product is supposed to work and are only concerned with budgets and timelines. Been there, done that. :wall:

Interesting. There's an ad for it in the most recent American Rifleman I got a few days ago. I had no idea it was such a lemon.

Its population control not hunting, but that's perfectly fine with me. I'll be honest and say a lot of what others call "hunting", I think is more akin to "harvesting", but that's neither here nor there. Seems like a great way for SWAT and/or SpecOps guys to practice shooting moving targets from a helicopter.
