  1. Mom told a funny story last night I'd never heard before.... Her dad brought home a boiled ham, which was a rare treat for them. Mom said the same thing about how good it was and how anxious they were for ham sandwiches. Mom and her sisters always had friends around and the news of boiled ham ensured they were there. Apparently someone left a door open and not only did their friends come over, their friends' dogs did too. You can guess what happened. Mom said they'd gone to get drinks or something, turned around and the ham was gone. The first thing I thought of was.....
  2. Interesting to have both a camera and a gun.
  3. Far more guns are damaged or worn out by excessive cleaning than excessive shooting.
  4. One day ole Jed was shootin at some food....
  5. You might be shocked at the value of some stuff rolling down the highway. We routinely put tens of millions of $$ on a flat bed.
  6. Wow, that's a lot of bees!
  7. Hope you heal up quickly.
  8. You want to heat the surrounding area but not the pin. Heat the hole so it gets bigger and loosens up on the pin. If its cerakote, you should be able to get it really hot, upwards of 1000 deg F. More than enough to get the pin out. Put a little penetrating oil on it, let that soak for 30 mins, then heat it up until the oil starts smoking, then try to knock the pin out while it's hot. It may take a couple attempts. Since you've determined this isn't the correct pin, is it possible its tapered and will only come out 1 way?
  9. Depending on what it's coated with, heating the surrounding area will help loosen it up.
  10. I work in aviation so I understand the desire to use proven technology. But building more of the same obsolete thing because that's all you know how to do isn't the best course of action.
  11. I agree, but it needs to be the right kind of nuclear. PWR's are 70 year old technology, there's way better ideas now. The NRC needs to look forward, not backwards. As for all the new neighbors..... welcome to summer in the south! We haven't had a real scorcher in a few years, we're due. It's not even July yet much less August, get ready.
  12. Really bad flavored vodka.
  13. Good. I was afraid it was another watered down flavored tourist vodka distillery.
  14. We need to stop calling it gun violence. That gives an object to blame. It's not gun violence, it's just violence. If not guns it would be bombs, knives, acid, ....
  15. Spend your $1000 renting a tiller for the next 10 years. No storage, no maintenance on something you'll use twice a year. Our garden is doing pretty well. Of all the seedlings we started and then planted, only 3 died. I consider that great yield. Both the spaghetti squash seedlings i planted died, but I had 2 more seedlings to replace them with. They're ok so far. One of 4 or 5 cucumber seedling died. Everything else looks good. I also transplanted 4 tomatoes, a cayenne (?) pepper, an okra, and a green bean plant that all came up in my fire pit.
  16. I passed by that new distillery taking my younger boy to ride Go-Karts last week. What do they make?
  17. Welcome!
  18. I'll add that it's baby season so hummingbirds will feed much more heavily on bugs to provide protein for their babies. One the babies fledge, they'll be back on nectar and feeders.
  19. We had a couple for about a week. That was maybe 3 weeks ago. None since.
  20. I would say that God put that moral compass in your heart. I agree with you about holding parents more accountable, but not just parents. It takes a village and I bet there's a lot of villagers asking themselves some very hard questions. I hope all those officers turn in their badges. I understand that LEO's arent soldiers, but court rulings aside, no one in that community will trust them anymore.
  21. All the schools I know of are locked in a similar fashion. But that's just security theater. Yes, those doors should be locked, but the first secure entry point should be the gate in the fence that's 100 yds from any door. The intercom should be at the gate. There should be another intercom and vestibule with metal detectors at the front door. Cameras with facial recognition software, ID scanning, etc. The fire doors in the hallways and classrooms should be closed and locked from entry from the outside. There's so many things that could be done to improve the security. As for bigotry... I saw an article that said the community was 91% Hispanic so that's a bit of a stretch. It's likely everyone he killed was Hispanic. I know we all got really excited about "red flag" laws but I suspect it'll come up again. This happened so fast that I don't think even that would've helped in this case. Background checks likely wouldn't have either, I'd guess he had no background to check.
  22. This is where my mind goes.... how does a guy with a rifle just walk into an elementary school? The court house has lots of cops, metal detectors, and locked doors inside locked doors. Yet this guy just walks into a school? Same with Sandy Hook, Parkland, and Columbine. Mental health is clearly a big problem, but just because people are crazy doesn't mean they're stupid. I hard target isn't so appealing.
  23. Either that's posed or his spotter isn’t going to be around long.
