Ok, so it wasn't your immediate boss but someone further up the chain with the title "President". Based on your vast experience running similar operations, you told him he doesn't know what he's doing. Can't imagine why he doesn't like you.... Anyway... as you've said, that ship has sailed. Time to sack up* and move on. *sack up... I must lead a sheltered life because I've never heard that before. That's awesome!

Yep. I was in the same boat about a year ago. My boys said they wanted to go fishing. While I had fished when I was a kid, I didn't even own a fishing pole. I chatted with a few coworkers who are avid fishermen and follow their advice. One trip to the sporting goods store, 4 fishing poles, a tackle box kit, a few extra goodies, and a few worms later.... If you're going after a specific type of fish, lets just say the options are nearly endless.

So... your left your prior job with Sprint on less than nice terms and expected to immediately get rehired at another Sprint location nearby? If you've listed the prior job on an application, it's perfectly reasonable (and probably a requirement) for the prospective hiring manager to call your old boss and ask about you. And then, shockingly, the old boss gives the potential new boss a less than glowing review of your performance. Can't imagine why.... What was that about burning bridges again? Yeah.... don't. Now you know why.

Which do you prefer 9mm or 38 special for SD?
peejman replied to RAJBCPA's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
9mm because capacity is typically higher and reloads are less fiddley. "Effectiveness" of the round is moot, hits on target are all that matter. -
Nice to know I'm in good company. :)

Oh... not the "happy ending" I first had in mind.

Tools, parts, and know-how to fix what might break. Fuel. Lots and lots of fuel. Really good mufflers. The world will be a very quiet place in a TEOTWAWKI situation. Remember how quiet it was the evening of 9/11/01? You could hear a car from miles away. That sound will attract attention.

It's this ^ combined with a lack of other complicating factors and seeking treatment early. ... same reason people here still die from the flu. Contrary to what the media likes to present as fact, I think you'd be hard pressed to find many flu deaths that don't include some sort of extenuating circumstances.

New to canning and have some supply questions
peejman replied to Luke E.'s topic in Survival and Preparedness
Agreed. I get their emails and they typically have pretty good stuff when it comes to gardening or simply DIY type stuff. When they try to talk about anything technical.... -

http://www.motherearthnews.com/real-food/canning.aspx#axzz3Ggh0j4Cc You might keep an eye out for garage sales and/or estate auctions. I've heard of folks finding someone one cleaning out grandma's old house and effectively giving away boxes of canning related stuff. -
K98's are excellent rifles. One with no import marks is probably worth a bit more. Keep in mind that most surplus ammo is corrosive, but otherwise shoot it as much as your shoulder can handle. It's a cannon.

I presume that's illegal in the UK just like it is here. Their version of the Feds will be along shortly in sure.

I was sorely tempted by one of those, but I think I'd really rather have a PAP AK. Good to hear a nice review of one.

Pretty much this and what dolomite said about water (which is one area in which I'm lacking). Access to clean drinking water will be a big deal.

It would take high powered rifle esque power to come close to penetrating those tanks. The walls in the big tanks are upwards of 4" thick acrylic. There would be more risk of ricochets than anything else. And I agree, that level of security is absurd. Makes me wonder if there's a particular reason why, other than being in the middle of the cesspool that is downtown Atlanta.

I actually meant 7:00 position instead of 4:00... I'm left handed but shoot right handed so having the knife opposite my gun suits me fine. I'd rather have the knife on the left anyway. I've got a fixed blade and a vertical left handed sheath. I can't draw the knife particularly quickly, but I figure I'll have bigger worries if it gets to the point of needing to draw it quickly. For me, it's mostly just a camping type thing. And it does get a bit absurd with all the stuff I'd like to carry... gun & leatherman on one side with knife (2nd knife actually) and spare mag on the other side. If I add my BUG to my pocket and spare mag for it, it gets to be a bit too mall ninja-ish...

So I shouldn't hunt with my AR? :o

Bear in mind that there is a state-wide leash law. Dogs are not permitted to "run at large". Its generally never enforced, but it is written.
-
Our neighbor had them, twice. She's fine now but was completely miserable for a couple weeks both times.
-
What they said... pay them. They need the money anyway. edited... I thought the dog was at a typical shelter. That does smell a little fishy to me as well. But I'd still probably pay them and go on with life. Microchipping usually costs about $50, but sometimes it depends on the size of the dog.

Chronograph... . Somehow chronometer didn't seem right, but I couldn't come up with chronograph at the time. You'd have to be pretty darn quick to use a chronometer on bullets.

Thanks. I figured the handle would stick out a bit, but wasn't sure how much that mattered. I'd rather have it at 4-5:00 with the handle forward. Seems like maybe the handle would catch on things if you brushed past them. After peeling a couple cell phones off my belt by brushing by door frames and such, I keep the phone in my pocket now. It might help keep the handle pulled a bit tighter if you added a 2nd belt loop at the opening.

Sounds about right. 2-3 years if vacuum sealed, less if just ziplocked or paper wrapped. And taste/texture is the only thing affected. Depending on how it's cooked, you may or may not be able to tell the difference.

Nastiest sig rifle on the planet
peejman replied to Dustbuster's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I'm surprised it got that dirty after only 1000 rounds. "Ol' Dirty" looks better than that after 16,000 rounds. http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68486&page=9
