  1. All you guys using kerosene or propane, just be sure your heater is listed for indoor use.  CO build-up is a dangerous thing, particularly in a workshop setting.
  2. The difference between a "go" and a "nogo" is only 0.010"... that's roughly 3 sheets of paper thick. Further reading tells me that the only headspace gauge you can use without removing the extractor and ejector is the field gauge. On a related note.... the pic below is from Brownells.... You're advertizing rusty headspace gauges? Really? :squint: Speaking of stupid marketing... :surrender: http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/measuring-tools/headspace-gauges/no-go-5-56-nato-sku184000036-40876-51827.aspx
  3.     Yes, the extractor should be removed when checking headspace.  1mm = 0.039" which may as well be a mile as far as headspace is concerned.  I've never headspaced an AR, but I have to think you have the wrong gauge.  Does the gauge fit in the chamber?
  4.   DING!   I wear a ratty old sweatshirt and knit cap.
  5.     Yep.  I consider "quite hours" to be 10pm-7am.  So at 9:55 they've got 5 more minutes before I start to get annoyed.  If the noise was routine, I'd get annoyed a lot faster.  But as stated, they might be up against some sort of deadline and gotta get it done now.  We've all been there.
  6.     Flonase available OTC?  :woohoo:   That stuff is awesome.  It's the only thing I've found that will keep my nose open when I get a sinus infection.
  7. Zyrtec works for me, but it's different for every person. Claritin doesn't do anything for me. I'd also suggest regular sinus irrigation. I use a nasal syringe with a modest salt water solution. Just pouring it through with a neti pot doesn't work for me. I gotta pressure wash it out. And I agree with OS, seems late for ragweed. Might be worthwhile to go see an allergist and get the "test of 1000 pin pricks" to help figure out what you're actually allergic to.
  8. Baking soda and saw dust does a good job of getting smoke smell out of car upholstery. Took a couple applications, but it worked. If you really don't want to paint (I hate it too), I'd wash the walls down with a simple green solution. That might be hard to do on the ceiling, especially if they're textured.
  9. Just be sure to chuck it in the swamp first. ;)
  10. Sometimes I wonder if people really are that ignorant, gullible, etc. But yes, clearly they are.
  11. If they are getting stuff from their church, go see the church folks. Give them stuff to give to the family. Edit... Further reading says you're already there. Good deal.
  12. Painting the whole house, cleaning the carpets, upholstery, curtains, and anything else fabric is really the only way. Its a bear of a task to make that smell go away.
  13. Try the same recipe and add an egg.
  14. No cross bolt of any sort on a VFG? Um, no.
  15. While overtime can be a bit of a drag, be happy you have the opportunity. Not everyone does. Put the extra cash toward something worthwhile.
  16. Do they still charge 20% more than everywhere else for it?
  17. Exactly. That's a booby trap, and booby traps are illegal. I'd contact the game warden and set up a hidden camera somewhere.
  18. I've seen pics of people being buried on their bike. As for my bucket list... don't really have one. If I did, this might be on it... :)
  19. Classy.  :shake:
  20.     Marketing.  They assume that so few people will try to make them honor the warranty that the small number of claims will be less than the additional sales they'll get from people buying for that reason....  Expect $5000 in annual claims while increasing sales by $50,000 @ 40% margin.  I highly doubt they send the stuff back to the manufacturer, it wouldn't be worth the shipping/handling costs.  They just trash them, eat the cost, and laugh all the way to the bank.                I can't think of how many times we did that in the house where I grew up.  We had one spigot that was in line before the house regulator so it got full line pressure (100 psi or so).  We did lots of garden/flowerbed watering and car washing with that hose.  A hose would last maybe 2 years before blowing out.  They'd make you cut off and bring in both ends of the bad hose (they always blew out near one end).  So we'd get a new hose and a repair kit to replace the ends on the old hose.
  21. I'm trying to talk a couple coworkers into helping me learn to deer hunt this season. They both process it themselves, which is something I want to learn anyway. As for hauling it, if the Tribute has a trailer hitch, get a hitch hauler cargo tray thing. That's what I intend to do with my SUV.
  22. Looks to be the same as this one....   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/80911-great-evaluation-of-lubes-and-rust-preventatives/
  23.   Ok, so it wasn't your immediate boss but someone further up the chain with the title "President".  Based on your vast experience running similar operations, you told him he doesn't know what he's doing.  Can't imagine why he doesn't like you....     Anyway...  as you've said, that ship has sailed.  Time to sack up* and move on.        *sack up... I must lead a sheltered life because I've never heard that before.  That's awesome!
  24. Yep. I was in the same boat about a year ago. My boys said they wanted to go fishing. While I had fished when I was a kid, I didn't even own a fishing pole. I chatted with a few coworkers who are avid fishermen and follow their advice. One trip to the sporting goods store, 4 fishing poles, a tackle box kit, a few extra goodies, and a few worms later.... If you're going after a specific type of fish, lets just say the options are nearly endless.
