Car/Cow accident question (not wife or I) no pictures

Your house chased your horse down the street? I'd like to have seen that! :D I'm not the slightest bit surprised you took car of the situation. Sorry you lost a horse. :( -
Business is cyclic? Ridiculous levels of growth aren't sustainable over the long term? Say it ain't so!!

I've got a few Sanelli knives and a few Mundial knives. My aunt used to work for a company that sold them commercially so I got them at very friendly prices. Wish I'd gotten more. The Sanelli's are larger and heavier and have been great for many years. The Mundial knives are smaller, lighter and don't hold an edge quite as well. But they do sharpen quite easily.

Sudafed elevates my heart rate by 20-30 bpm and raises my blood pressure 10-20 pts. I don't know which is the cause and which is the effect, but that's what happens. I've taken it for congestion when I had a cold or sinus infection since I was a kid and either never noticed those side effects before or they've just gotten worse as I've gotten older. That's one reason why I was so happy to discover flonase. If anything it does a better job with the congestion and doesn't have the side effects. Have you still got your tonsils/adenoids?

The bullet trajectory is pretty steep when using a 25 yd zero. This magnifies the vertical change in POI based on range.... small changes in range cause the POI to move more than they would using a 50 yd zero.

V8? Interesting idea, I may have to try that. And mushrooms, you reminded me of mushrooms. With all the peppers, veggies, and such, you don't need to add a lot of water. I don't saute anything first (I do brown the meat) so the veggies cook down and release a lot of liquid. It can end up runny if you're not careful. Another idea... if you want to add a little spice, use a can of rotel tomatoes instead of plain tomato sauce/paste. As others have said, it's hard to screw up chili. About the only way I know of is to put in too much salt. I can't stand salty chili. I don't add any extra salt to mine, all the ingredients have plenty already.

So what do you think of the College Football Playoff system?
peejman replied to maroonandwhite's topic in General Chat
You mean to suggest that the purpose of the university is education and not entertainment? It'd be super easy to pull 2 weeks from the schedule. First, remove the "bye" week. Next, remove the high school team from the schedule. I've never understood the value of playing a team your 3rd string could beat 50-0. Run the playoff immediately following the regular reason. Do away with this silly 3 week delay. The whole season should be done before Christmas. -

I'll reserve judgement until I see it work, but I find it hard to believe it could be worse than the BCS. I also think it needs more teams, at least 8. -
I use the recipe on the side of the Bush's chili bean can. :ugh: Seriously, it makes good chili. I add a bunch more chopped peppers (various kinds), onions, and celery, than it says and I also add 1 or 2 more cans of different kinds beans and some crushed/chopped tomatoes (my chili ends up resembling stew). I add all that stuff because I like it, and to fill up the crock pot, which is pretty big. Dump it all in the crock pot and leave it all day. Add a pan of cornbread... yum.

Wow. Hang in there. I'm no doctor, but it sure sounds like some sort of reaction to the various meds. Add to that the stress of the whole mess and I'd say you've been pretty miserable. Hope you get it sorted out, and fast.

Right, most cattle should be tagged or otherwise identified. Neighbors might be able to identify it. -
Yep. That's way more than typical seasonal stuff. Go see these folks... http://www.allergyasc.com/

Put one (or 1/2 or 1/4) of these in every spot of standing water you find. They work. I've got a gutter that doesn't drain properly, directly above my patio where my grill sits. The little bastards used to eat my ankles off while grilling. Now I toss 1/4 of one in after it's rained and no more mosquitoes.

Any sort of heater burning any sort of hydrocarbon based fuel has the potential to produce significant amounts of CO. It's mainly a concern when the combustion products (exhaust) is vented into the same space you occupy, such as with a ventless model. The ventless models do burn exceptionally efficiently, but only when everything is exactly right. A poor installation job, bent burner, etc. can muck things up real quick. Water vapor (another combustion product) may also be a significant concern. Propane produces either 4x or 8x the amount of water vapor that natural gas does. Hence, running a ventless propane heater indoors can cause a lot of condensation build-up, which leads to mold, mildew, etc. But that just kills you slowly and you can see it. CO kills you much faster and is far less obvious.
-
All you guys using kerosene or propane, just be sure your heater is listed for indoor use. CO build-up is a dangerous thing, particularly in a workshop setting.

The difference between a "go" and a "nogo" is only 0.010"... that's roughly 3 sheets of paper thick. Further reading tells me that the only headspace gauge you can use without removing the extractor and ejector is the field gauge. On a related note.... the pic below is from Brownells.... You're advertizing rusty headspace gauges? Really? :squint: Speaking of stupid marketing... :surrender: http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/measuring-tools/headspace-gauges/no-go-5-56-nato-sku184000036-40876-51827.aspx
-
Yes, the extractor should be removed when checking headspace. 1mm = 0.039" which may as well be a mile as far as headspace is concerned. I've never headspaced an AR, but I have to think you have the wrong gauge. Does the gauge fit in the chamber?

DING! I wear a ratty old sweatshirt and knit cap.

Yep. I consider "quite hours" to be 10pm-7am. So at 9:55 they've got 5 more minutes before I start to get annoyed. If the noise was routine, I'd get annoyed a lot faster. But as stated, they might be up against some sort of deadline and gotta get it done now. We've all been there.

Flonase available OTC? :woohoo: That stuff is awesome. It's the only thing I've found that will keep my nose open when I get a sinus infection.
-
Zyrtec works for me, but it's different for every person. Claritin doesn't do anything for me. I'd also suggest regular sinus irrigation. I use a nasal syringe with a modest salt water solution. Just pouring it through with a neti pot doesn't work for me. I gotta pressure wash it out. And I agree with OS, seems late for ragweed. Might be worthwhile to go see an allergist and get the "test of 1000 pin pricks" to help figure out what you're actually allergic to.

Cleaning smoke smell out of house (wall cleaning solution)
peejman replied to maroonandwhite's topic in General Chat
Baking soda and saw dust does a good job of getting smoke smell out of car upholstery. Took a couple applications, but it worked. If you really don't want to paint (I hate it too), I'd wash the walls down with a simple green solution. That might be hard to do on the ceiling, especially if they're textured.
