  1. Yep, a nazi marked K98.  Cool old rifle.  The wood looks to be in pretty good shape but the metal is kinda rough.  As for value, I'd just surf gunbroker, armslist, etc. and look for similar rifles.  I'd say $300 range.  Maybe a little more since I assume it doesn't have an import mark.

    Lights.

The elf... yes, coming up with 24 consecutive G-rated ideas can be difficult.
  3. There's tons of info and pictures online to help identify and authenticate all sorts of guns. If you take clear, close-up pictures of all the markings and note exactly where they are on the rifle, you can usually determine a surprising amount of detail. I'd love to see some pics of it. :) The most common rifle is a K98 Mauser.
  4. I just leave the drain open all winter so it doesn't fill up.   It still holds a little water, but not enough to cause problems.  Mine gets only a couple hours of sun in the morning this time of year.    That said, someone remind me to open the drain when I get home tonite....
  5.     Garbage foods... anything that comes in a box or plastic.  That's pretty broad, but not far from the truth.   Start reading the ingredient list on the packages.  If there's more than about 6 ingredients, it's probably junk.  Look for words like "enriched" or "hydrogenated".  Look for really long words you can't pronounce.  Google them to see what that is.    Start reading the nutrition numbers on the package.  Look at the calories, sugar, sodium, saturated fat, and cholesterol and their % daily value.  If one serving (which is likely a lot smaller amount than you think) has a large percentage... that's not good.    Those sausage, egg, and cheese biscuits aren't the greatest thing either, the oatmeal is a much better choice.  The majority of restaurants post the nutrition values of their menu online.  Some of the results may frighten you...   A McD's sausage egg & cheese...   550 calories, 12g saturated fat (61% of your daily intake), 265mg cholesterol (89% of your daily intake), 1320 mg sodium (55% of your daily intake)... in a single biscuit.  Not including the hashrounds or whatever else.  Yikes.   http://www.eatthis.com/home
  6. If you can't dig a hole or flatten a hill to get the dirt, you'll probably need at least 2 dump truck loads.  The size of the hill is depended on the distance you'll be shooting.  Longer range = bigger berm.

    Adopt a pet

Getting two adult dogs to play nice can be a tough row to hoe, particularly if they're both the same sex.  Been there, tried that.
  8. As others have said, some people are "dog people" who have some understanding of their behavior and how the deal with them, and some people aren't and view them in the same way others might view a bug.  Cops reside in both of those categories.

Um... no.  It's not even Thanksgiving yet.
  10. I carry my P3AT in a DeSantis Nemesis holster in my right front pocket.  It prints a little with some pants but not at all with others.  I don't really care.  As your wife said, most people will think its a phone or something.
  11. Get a USGI sling.  It'll fit and work fine, just make sure you get the right width.  They come in 1" and 1-1/4" wide.  If your sling swivels are round, the metal clips fits easily.  If the swivels are square, it's not so easy and may take a little file work on the swivel for it to fit.    http://www.tech-sights.com/access.htm
  12. Great that you're making progress.   I'm always skeptical of these "cleanse" kind of diets.  The weight you've lost is most likely just what was in your digestive tract.  I don't know how much juice you're drinking, but keep in mind that most any kind of juice contains a lot of sugar and hence isn't exactly "low calorie".  Eating a fairly balanced  diet with plenty of variety is the best choice.  Portion control is key, and very difficult to maintain.  I struggle with that myself.  I eat what I consider to be a pretty good diet, I just tend to eat too much.  I'm also a stress/boredom eater.  It's a tough habit to break.      Get all the crap out of the house... cookies, crackers, desserts, etc.  If you don't have any of it on hand, you can't eat it.      Please, PLEASE... go see a doctor before you start any significant exercise.  I lost a good friend and coworker a couple years ago.  The scale had risen to well past the 300 lb mark, he got fed up and decided he need to lose weight.  He dropped dead of a heart attack while exercising at home with his wife and son.  He was 37 and born 2 weeks before me.
  13. Cool knives.
  14. I may do that tomorrow. Supposed to be warm most of next week so I may end up having to mow again in a week or two.
  15. Casting sand? Wow. If it's in the coolant passages, it's darn sure in everything else too. I bet the oil filter clogs up and bypasses within the first 50 miles. Then it spend the next 7450 miles with no oil filtration. Depending on the amount of sand, it might take several filter changes to get the system clean.
  16.       Ah.  I have a friend with similar status.  He always just smiles and says, I'll call tomorrow and see if its ready.
  17.     Got it for both my boys.  I'm very thankful I was made aware of it before they got too old.
  18.         Yep.    As the left has moved further left, the right has moved further right to maintain some semblance of balance.  Both are so far from the center I don't think either remember what it looks like.
  19.   They're all very long and VERY detailed.  My wife read them and enjoyed them.  I like historical stuff and tried to read a couple of them but I just couldn't get through them.  All the details were a little overwhelming.
  20. You're a more patient man than I.  I would've left and said "call me when it's ready"  or "I'll come back tomorrow" about 3.5 hours ago.
  21.   Right... this is all Washington State, not Washington DC.
  22. Haslam...?  Meh (at best).
  23. I've had a PT145 for years and really like it.
  24. This deal is really tempting me.... http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/taurus-pt111-gen2-9mm-1-111031g2-12.html
