  1. I'm guessing the doctors aren't required (or obligated) to inform their patient that they've been labelled as such.  The patient finds out when the Gestapo shows up to confiscate.  So much for innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.  One can now be proven guilty in a doctor's office.  Don't get me wrong, I'm all for keeping guns away from the insane asylum, but I lack confidence that this would be handled appropriately.
  2. That does seem like quite a stretch of PC.  Where was the school board meeting?  And why was a cop there (is that normal?)?
  3. Yep, interesting stuff.  Thanks.
  4. As folks have said, it depends on a lot of things... type of construction and location within the room are the big concerns.    If you're on a crawlspace (or 2nd floor) on an outside wall that's supported directly to the foundation, then you can likely double the 40psf rating with no issues.  Me being the nerdy engineer type, I'd add support under it regardless, as I did with my aquarium.    If the safe has feet, they'll likely sink into normal flooring to some degree.  Adding some sort of bearing plate between the feet and the floor can prevent that.   If you put it on a bare concrete slab, you must have some sort of vapor barrier between the concrete and the safe.  Else, water will wick up out of the concrete and cause the bottom of the safe to corrode.  Sometimes the easiest thing is to just leave the safe on the shipping pallet to create an air gap to the floor.
  5. I'd guess about half way between an Express and a Wingmaster. I assume it's got the nice bluing of a Wingmaster?
  6. I visited Pearl Harbor 20-odd years ago. As others have said, very somber and serious place. Dec 7th has more meaning for me... my youngest turned 4 today. :)
  7. The image that popped into my head when I read this is hilarious.... :D
  8. You guys don't believe I can do all that? I'll get my mom to bring me over there and we'll see who laughs last. :)
  9. Most sincere condolences to you and your family during this time of grief and healing.
  10. Perfectly legal. Though you might consider making a brake instead of a break. ;)
  11. Yes. Gunsmiths have a FFL for exactly that reason. https://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/gunsmiths.html I'm lazy and didn't read that he's in Memphis. So yes, perfectly legal to ship it person to person within the state. A "gunsmith" would have a FFL to be able to do interstate business. In that case it's legal for a person to ship interstate to a gunsmith with a FFL and it's legal for him/her to send it back directly to you. No "transfer" is necessary. Finding a shipping carrier that will do that is a separate problem.
  12. Indeed. Nice ones too. :)

    My First 308

Then I'd agree that a 200 yd zero should work pretty well.

    My First 308

Exactly. Zero it where ever you'll use it most, be that 50 yds or 500 yds.
  15. Unless it's not working properly or so dirty my hands got dirty just handling it, I wouldn't clean it.
  16.     So that would indicate it's really not that hard to do.  The bullet doesn't drop but about 6" at 100 yds if you've sighted it to zero at 25 yds, even less if you're using something like +2" at 25 yds as shown in the table.  Still a darn good off-hand shot.
  17.     You said clearly stated.... in plain English no less....          :-\

    Bus Wreck?

Stories I've read/heard this morning say the bus that crossed the median was swerving to avoid a car that pulled out in front of, or cut-off, the bus.  A terrible coincience that it clipped the full bus coming the other way.
  19.   Right.  And they're not using a belt sander from a hardware store, they're using a $100,000 machine that's adjustable 0.001" (or less) at a time.
  20.   Exactly.  If the rounds cycle and are accurate in your gun, that's 99% of it.    That said, I think I've got 3 different 9mm HP's in 3 different pistols at the moment...  124gr Winchester in the Ruger, 115gr Hornady Critical Defense in the Shield, and 115gr Federal (?) in the S&W.    I don't use +P ammo because I don't think any of my guns are rated for it and I just don't see the value.
  21. Hey man, nice shot.  :)     And as stated in the original article, the comments here are pretty funny.  http://kxan.com/2014/12/01/chief-on-austin-gunman-hate-was-in-his-heart/
  22. Belt sanders are for big stuff like mower blades, Spots' bowies or an ax They're also only for those with lots of practice. A belt sander removes metal really fast, even with a fine grit belt. It also can get hot enough to alter the temper of the blade. I'm sure there's people out there who can sharpen a pocket or kitchen knife with one, but I wouldn't dream of it.
  23. It's been like that for 3 years?!?!? I agree it looks like a spider or other such critter bite that's gone septic, but for 3 years? That's just bizarre. I think I would've gone to the mayo clinic or cdc more than 2 years ago.
  24. Right. Unless it's pitted really bad or flaking, it could probably be resurrected.
  25. Driver won't be charged? 😕
