  1. How about ... Stop doing stupid stuff that makes the cops want to shoot you.
  2.     Change the law such that the employer is not responsible for what happens in their parking lot, and I bet you'll see a lot of business owners change their mind.
  3. Is the color scheme based on quantity or percent of county population?
  4. The link (URL) must end in .jpg or other photo file type. You can do manually by typing [ img] photo URL .jpg [/ img]. Just leave out the spaces.
  5. You should pick the one you shoot the most accurately and quickly during self defense type practice.    As for me, that's a tough choice.  The small Glocks just don't fit my hand very well, but I don't have a warm fuzzy that an even smaller Sig in 9mm (with less capacity) is likely to be any better.  The G19 is the only Glock I'd consider owning and I'd have a Sig P239 over the 938 any day.
  6.     Illustrates why our elected representatives don't really care that much what the "gun community" thinks and why it's so hard to get any sort of meaningful legislation through the system.
  7. Plastic gun parts are typically "solvent resistant" since guns get cleaned with various solvents.  Brake cleaner is easy since it's in an aerosol can, but a wipe down with an alcohol soaked rag (or dunk in a bucket) accomplishes the same thing.  You're just making sure to get that last little but of grease or oil off the surfaces.  Wear rubber/vinyl gloves when you do this and don't touch it with bare hands until the paint is dry.
  8.   I'd say the protected status is simply because they're a member of the raptor family and has nothing to do with numbers.  The little I read seemed to indicate that a cattle owner just needed to contact their local wildlife or USDA agent and get a permit to kill them.
  9. Someone enlighten me as this "other forum" where one might learn about such things.
  10.     Interesting.  Google tells me its large groups of them, I was thinking of a single bird.  One might think that's what cowboys are for.  There's all manner of predators out there that would be happy to munch on a newborn calf.    In general black vultures are one of the more intelligent birds and hence can be both aggressive and destructive.
  11.   Go see Dr. Vines at Envision here in Maryville.  I chatted with him last time I was in there and said he has several competitive shooters at patients.  He's even had them bring their firearms in for on-site evaluation of various alternatives.
  12.     Yes, a black vulture is considered a bird of prey.  Blinding cattle and killing calves... not likely.  Eating the eyes out of already dead ones, likely.
  13.     I've never done it, but what I've read is exactly this.
  14. Yep, about 2 months before they can go outside.  Farmer's Almanac says last frost is April 6, so now is probably a good time.
  15. Unfortunately it takes a company with the resources ($$) of Sig to butt heads with the government over such things.  Though it seems clear that someone well up in the hierarchy at Sig doesn't like the ATF and is intentionally pushing the boundaries.
  16.         https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrZlWw8Di10
  17. My wife volunteers with a local raptor rehabber. They see all kinds of strange things. People can be exceedingly ignorant.
  18. If I don't recognize the number or it's not in my contacts, I don't answer.  Ever.  If it's important, they'll leave a message.  If not, I didn't want to talk to them anyway.
  19.   Hide the wife?  Why would I do that?
  20.       Yes.... nearly everything negotiable.  Don't be afraid to ask, the worst they can say is no.    And yes, interviewing for jobs you don't want is excellent practice, particularly if you're thinking about a move but haven't interviewed in a while.  Go on a couple that you have little interest in just to get your mind back in the interview mode.  Take a note pad and make notes of stuff along the way or afterwards.  Did they stump you with a hard question?  Surprise you with something unexpected?  Look it up, write it down, and have the perfect answer queued up for the next time.  Do your homework on the company you're interviewing with.  Don't be afraid to ask them hard questions (much easier when you're not afraid to annoy someone).  You might be surprised by the answers you get.
  21. If you want a fixed rear sight, I'd also recommend the carry handle.  That makes the rifle eligible for NRA highpower and service rifle matches.
  22. Other than rifles specifically set up for long range work where optics are necessary, I've never understood why one wouldn't have iron sights.   And that's not just AR's but any rifle.
  23. Is an outhouse an option?
  24. Welcome!
