That's some darn fine shooting by everyone! I'd love to find the time (and $) to get into IDPA type shooting.

Yes, you can shoot on your property within Knox county (not Knoxville city). With only 3 acres, noise will be a significant issue.

It's interesting how times, values, and opinions change. As stated above... many years ago, being on the "dole" was considered disgraceful. A man worked for a living. Any job, no matter how menial, was better than no job and being a debtor. People were proud of the work they did. I think a lot of that was because at that time, most of the work was done with one's hands. At the end of the day, there was some physical thing that was accomplished that one could be proud of. Now, lots of people spend the majority of their work day pecking away at a keyboard. The physical manifestation of their labor has been lost. Their reward for good work is typically more work. People deal with stupid rules, stupid bosses, stupid meetings, and feel no more valuable than a number in that spreadsheet they've been working on all day. The lack of anything tangible makes it much more difficult to take pride in your work. Pride (to the point of narcissism) is one of the "7 Deadly Sins", but a lack of pride seems to be more of a problem in modern society.

Can I ask who's making them for you (us)? My wife is thinking of having some made as a way to raise money for a place she volunteers. These are quite high quality so I thought about sending her to the same place.

Debtor's prison? Indentured servitude? I'm only kinda serious. I think welfare as a government service should be dissolved and given to private entities to manage... specifically churches.

A fire in the house is an insurance liability and your homeowners rate will be adjusted accordingly. I hope you had the fireplace, stove insert, and chimney inspected prior to purchase. If not, get it done. We had a stove insert when I was a kid and they're great. If it has blowers, have a way to run them when the power goes out. The heating efficiency drops tremendously without the blower.

Exactly. The collection is certainly intriguing, and I've been looking for a "truck gun", but I'm sure any "deals" will be long gone before I get there.

The potato soup was from more than a week ago. I figure all the hot sauce I put in it helps compensate.

Left over potato soup and cornbread.

I too have a "pee in a cup" job. I wouldn't be opposed to drug testing and birth control for welfare recipients.

If Wilson combat parts will fit it, anything can be made to run well.

What's the deal with TN Firearms Association?

Change the law such that the employer is not responsible for what happens in their parking lot, and I bet you'll see a lot of business owners change their mind. -
Handgun Permits - County by County

Is the color scheme based on quantity or percent of county population? -
The link (URL) must end in .jpg or other photo file type. You can do manually by typing [ img] photo URL .jpg [/ img]. Just leave out the spaces.

You should pick the one you shoot the most accurately and quickly during self defense type practice. As for me, that's a tough choice. The small Glocks just don't fit my hand very well, but I don't have a warm fuzzy that an even smaller Sig in 9mm (with less capacity) is likely to be any better. The G19 is the only Glock I'd consider owning and I'd have a Sig P239 over the 938 any day.

Handgun Permits - County by County

Illustrates why our elected representatives don't really care that much what the "gun community" thinks and why it's so hard to get any sort of meaningful legislation through the system. -
Plastic gun parts are typically "solvent resistant" since guns get cleaned with various solvents. Brake cleaner is easy since it's in an aerosol can, but a wipe down with an alcohol soaked rag (or dunk in a bucket) accomplishes the same thing. You're just making sure to get that last little but of grease or oil off the surfaces. Wear rubber/vinyl gloves when you do this and don't touch it with bare hands until the paint is dry.

I'd say the protected status is simply because they're a member of the raptor family and has nothing to do with numbers. The little I read seemed to indicate that a cattle owner just needed to contact their local wildlife or USDA agent and get a permit to kill them.

Someone enlighten me as this "other forum" where one might learn about such things.

Interesting. Google tells me its large groups of them, I was thinking of a single bird. One might think that's what cowboys are for. There's all manner of predators out there that would be happy to munch on a newborn calf. In general black vultures are one of the more intelligent birds and hence can be both aggressive and destructive.

Go see Dr. Vines at Envision here in Maryville. I chatted with him last time I was in there and said he has several competitive shooters at patients. He's even had them bring their firearms in for on-site evaluation of various alternatives.
