  1.     Doesn't say that here....   https://www.municode.com/library/tn/gallatin/codes/code_of_ordinances?nodeId=PTIIMUCO_CH9FIPRPR_ARTIVOPBU
  2. That's sad and not what I was expecting to hear.  Classic psycho/sociopath.  Good thing the system did its job in rehabbing the poor, misguided youth.  :shake:
  3. I'd pick the shortest one for easiest handling in the brush.  Sounds like that's the .45-70... which I'd also recommend just because it's a .45-70.  :)   I presume damage to the meat is of little consequence.  If you want to save the meat and are confident in shot placement, the .223 would probably work fine too.
  4. Easy way to start a brush fire and/or burn your house or your neighbor's down.  Easy way to cause that chiminea to crack and explode.    That said, a friend does that with a steel drum when burning brush.  He cut holes in the bottom and stick the blower nozzle right up to it.  At dusk, the whole barrel glows orange/red with flames 10 ft high.  Makes quick work of wet brush.
  5. Yep, it's nice to have good neighbors.  Thankfully, after 7 years the mean old bastard next door finally moved away back in the fall and a super nice couple moved in.  Other than beginning to feel like a retirement community, we're in good shape now.
  6. I've tried Glenlivet, Glenmorangie, Glenfiddich, The Macallan, and most recently Tamdu.  The Macallan was my favorite, but they sure think a lot of it.  I've only had a couple glasses of it, never bought a bottle.  I'm not enough of a connoisseur to justify the price for anything other than very special occasions.  The others were quite good, best I recall.  I've tried JW black and gave the bottle away after a couple glasses.
  7. I'm interested to hear the rest of this story.  I'm not terribly familiar with that area, but based on the map it doesn't look to be a particularly unpleasant part of town.
  8. I carry in church as well. And my church recently decided to have a cop on duty through the typical Sunday services.
  9. Wow.
  10. Good for you!  I'll be having that same birthday of significance fairly soon.  I'm quite sure my blood work won't be better than it was 15 years ago, but hopefully it'll be better than it was last year.  Your cholestrol numbers are quite good.  Mine got as high as 248 but it's come down to just over 200 for the last couple years.  I've been watching my diet, exercising regularly this year, and have lost a few pounds.  I'm hoping to break the 200 mark this year.  Getting back to regular exercise certainly has helped me generally feel better.
  11. Too much oil?  In my experience, blowback guns get dirty real fast, particularly .22's.  Excess oil turns the residue into goo that gums up the works.  If you can't find any obvious wear issues, trying running a little less oil.
  12. Had that deal been a 9 instead of a .40, there's a distinct possibility my wife would be rather annoyed with me at the moment.  Well, more so than usual.  :)   I've handled a couple and liked the feel, but never shot one.
  13.     So that's what the kids call it these days....   :dirty:
  14.     I was tempted too.  But Glocks break too.  :panic:
  15. I've never done it, but the info says 900ft elevation gain on the way out.  225 ft/mi isn't that much unless you're used to walking on the greenbelt.  Fairly tame by Smoky's standards.  Looks like there's several creek crossings... take some sandals or old sneakers to change into so you don't have to worry about your boots getting soaked.  If the water is moving faster than a walking pace, cross while facing upstream.  Unfasten any buckles on your pack so you can drop it easily if you fall in.
  16.     Because desalination plants are expensive and by necessity, they must sit on prime beach-front property.    Plus it's easier to whine about lines drawn on maps 200 years ago than to actually do something constructive.           I didn't realize they're as far along with desalination as they are...  http://www.mercurynews.com/science/ci_25859513/nations-largest-ocean-desalination-plant-goes-up-near   Expensive?  Certainly, but so is life without water.  Why not raise the sales tax to fund it?  That's what we do here...
  17. A magazine I got from my Dad had an article about a bear's sense of smell.  The comment was something to this effect...   You can smell the beans cooking over the camp fire from 100 yds away.  Your dog can smell them while they're still in the can.  A bear can smell the perfume worn by the lady who packed them in the can 6 months ago, from a mile away.
  18. Wonder what all those property tax dollars got used for instead of ensuring the infrastructure was up to the task when they granted all those building permits?  CA has all the water it could ever possibly need.  They merely need to look further left.  Atlanta is in the same pickle, except the ocean is a tad further away.
  19.     The new law states you can sue your former employer for false termination, as you were engaging in an activity that's otherwise legal.  Note that it only says you can sue, it doesn't say you'll win.
  20. Get it fixed. Stuff breaks. Or send it to me for disposal. :)
  21.     You expected the law to make sense?          You are allowed to have on your person while in the car on school property.  I highly doubt you'd get any flack for transferring the gun from "on your person" to "secured" (and vice versa) while sitting in your car in the parking lot as long as you weren't terribly obvious about it.  One could also argue the semantics regarding the difference between "temporarily stopped" and "parked".  If that really bothers you, do the transfer across the street, then go park.
  22. Stop by the nearest sporting good store and pick up a stone or one of those little pocket sharpeners... should be only about $10... and leave it in your suitcase for the next time.  Likely won't get it back to shaving sharp, but should return it to service.
  23. Perfectly serviceable.    It's possible to build your own for a little less if you shop various sales (and they go together like legos), but if you want a complete rifle they're hard to beat.
  24.     Same as Ferguson... I bet a large number of the rioters/looters/scum don't live in Maryland, much less Baltimore proper.
