  1. Murder is never a reasonable solution. I have huge empathy for his family. They're living their worst nightmare right now. The shooter is definitely an amateur with an axe to grind. A pro would have been invisible. That said, having personally gone to war more than once with UHC over claim and treatment denials, I have no love for the system he administers. They F with people's lives for money that isnt theirs in the first place. They employ quack doctors who lost their license to review treatment for people they'll never see. Like banks, they're a leach. They provide very little value and suck billions out of the system. They're a parasite. Violence is never the answer, but like the events of January 6th, if this sends a message to remind certain people who their customers are and the power they hold, I hope some good comes of it.
  2. As with the others, I found the laser wiggling around to be more of a distraction than anything else. More focused on the dot than what the dot was on. I'd imagine it would be even worse in the midst of an adrenaline dump.
  3. Exactly. That goes back hundreds of years. The primary thing is the rate of change has increased dramatically in the last 30 years or so. Technology has enabled so many things. It's likely to continue to increase.
  4. Happy turkey day folks!
  5. I built benches most of the way around my last deck to function as railings. Code only requires railings if the deck is 36" or higher.
  6. Deck building is fun stuff. Digging holes for the posts is the worst part. Sounds like a good idea at your place. A little extra clean space before entering the house.
  7. Check the date code on the other 2. Trailer tires hardly ever wear out, they age out.
  8. Balls to the Wall
  9. Dad's a wood turner and I think he uses the System Three epoxy from Woodcraft. There's different versions for filling holes or voids versus a thin surface layer. I'd also recommend you ask at Woodcraft.
  10. Is it live, or is it Memorex?
  11. Or prairie dogging.
  12. Also ask about item or category coverage limits for your homeowners. A minor gun/art/jewelry/instrument/tool collection will likely exceed the coverage limit for those and require a separate policy if you want them insured for full value. Make sure they explain "replacement value" coverage limits. For example... A 2000sqft house burns to the point where it's better to bulldoze it and start over. Building a modest house will cost $200/sqft so $400k. Does the policy cover clearing the site ($25k)? Is that cost included in the total number? If not, then you only have $375k left to replace your $400k house. What about the stuff inside (see above)?
