  1. Indeed. Dig the A-12 paint scheme.
  2.     Me too.  :)
  3. Dad told me a story a long time ago that was told to him by a USAF friend from when Dad was stationed in CA...   Dad's friend was not a pilot for the USAF, but had his private pilot's license (same as Dad). They liked to fly at first light because the air was smooth and they could go fly for a while and get back before it got hot, and be back for lunch which made the wives happy.   So his friend got to the airport at o'dark thirty, got his little Cessna warmed up and was taxiing to the runway just as the sun began to turn the horizon orange. About half way down the taxiway, the tower instructed him to stop and hold his current position for 15 seconds. He complied and asked why, the instruction was simply repeated with no explanation. Over his shoulder, he saw a blue glow and heard a rumble that quickly grew into a roar so loud he couldn't hear his own engine. Two blue/orange flames streaked down the intersecting runway, lifted off, and disappeared into the sky so fast he wondered if he'd just seen what he just saw.   The tower controller snapped him out of his daze by saying "cleared for takeoff". He said, "Was that....?" The controller responded, "Was what? Have a nice day."   Fun stuff.   :)
  4. I wonder if the state will vacate all his votes since the first instance of fraud?  I also wonder if they'd require repayment of all benefits received since that time?  That would send a nice message.
  5. Happy Father's Day gents.
  6. Nice!
  7. Kelly Johnson was a genius. If you've not read "Skunk Works" by Ben Rich, you should.
  8. Dads got a copy of Brian Shul's book. Really cool stories. I got to meet and listen to Col Rich Graham give a talk about flying and being the wing commander. He's written some neat books as well.
  9. That's awesome! Coolest airplane ever.
  10. The "not a lot of traffic" part is going to be tough. It's summer, lots of people are out doing stuff. You'll need to hit some of the more out-of-the-way places or go during the week. You might like the Museum of Appalachia near Clinton. Museum of Science and Industry and the Children's museum in Oak Ridge. Knoxville zoo, Smokies baseball, .... In Chattanooga there's the Aquarium, IMAX, Creative Discovery Museum, Ruby Falls, Incline Railway, Railroad museum, Lookouts baseball, ...
  11. You need a hosting service like photobucket to post pictures.
  12. There's tons of options.  If he has no affinity for anything in particular, .308, .270, or .243 bolt guns from any of the big names will work fine.
  13. There's lots to do.... what's your family's version of fun?           Yep, my wife worked there before they built the museum.  She found the saber toothed cat tooth (among a few other things).  Bays Mtn. Park is nearby and has some interesting stuff as well.
  14. TN Code Annotated:  https://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/tncode/            Which says "The permit holder's motor vehicle is parked in a location where it is permitted to be" ... which implies that they can designate a specific parking area.  Whether that constitutes discrimination is up to the lawyers.     SB1058:  http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/109/Bill/SB1058.pdf  which goes into effect July 1, 2015 (2 weeks from today) is an amendment to 39-17-1313 which basically says you can sue if you think you got fired for doing something otherwise legal.  I think case law (if there is any) could become a very interesting precedent.
  15. Not nearly enough. :( Wish there was a closer place I could shoot rifles.
  16. In. Just because. :)
  17.     http://www.wikihow.com/Be-a-Hipster
  18.     When I was in grade school, the teachers used to ask to borrow my pocketknife because they knew it was sharp.    There was talk about banning pocketknives here at work recently.  Seems someone cut themselves.  The first response was "good luck with that...", and never mind all the razor blades laying around this place.  :shake:
  19.     Meh.  I've had glasses or contacts since I was 10.  Honestly with the one eye at 20/70, I'd want to get that fixed.  My left eye has a slight astigmatism that my contact don't correct for, and sometimes even that's annoying.  I'm picky about being able to see.    You'll be fine.  Call the opthamalogists back and tell them to call you if they have a cancellation.
  20. Given that a G17 is about 8 x 5.5 x 1.25, you could probably squeeze one in there.  The majority of those type of cases already are Pelican cases, they just lack the logo.
  21.     While salt does indeed absorb moisture, those drops should have the same salinity as tears.  They'll work fine to lubricate your eyes.  It a 12oz bottle of the "natural tears" stuff for the same price as the 0.5 oz bottle.   Yes, go see an ophthalmologist.  Talk to this person in depth, tell them everything.  The more they know, they better they can diagnose.    Do you wear sunglasses?  Your eyes might be sunburned.
  22. I'm using Firefox and the "view new content" button is still there.  Not sure if there was one called "new threads".
  23.     I got mine 10-12 years ago.  Still had to go to a different location for fingerprints and it was both ink and digital prints.  The scanner was very new at that time and very finicky.  Took most people (me included) a bunch of attempts for the scanner to accept your prints, then they did a back-up set in ink, just in case.
  24. What are kids taught today?      This.   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/88542-fight-at-walmart/     Questions?
  25.     Busy reading and generally tuned out to what her daughter was saying.  Too apathetic to bother correcting her.    Granted, I'd expect a 12 year old to know what WWII means, but I'd also expect TGO folk's children have far greater exposure to such things than the norm.
