What cz and Spots said... It shouldn't need to be running, just have a good battery. And there's (almost) always some sort of manual shifter release for when there's no electrical power. Else just drag it with a truck or tractor.

Thanks for the explanations. Yep. That's what happens when a game becomes a sport. Walk throughs are one thing I've never really understood about IDPA. If the whole idea is to improve your defensive pistol skills, doesn't a walk through largely defeat the purpose? If you don't see and consequently don't neutralize a target, aren't you dead? I understand there are guns involved and you can't just let people run around all willy nilly, but it seems like giving the shooters the number of targets and rounds they're expected to fire is way too much information.

I scored 30 +/- 2 depending on interpretation. Guess it was nice knowing you guys.

Forgive my ignorance... is there money on the line at these matches? If so, how much? I can't find any reference to prize money even at the national championship, but perhaps my google-fu is broken.

I used the video's OS posted when I built my first one. The detents WILL go flying, so be ready for that. I put the disconnector spring in upside down. Took it back apart 3 time before I figured that out. I also put the selector detent in upside down and it took a bit to figure out why the safety didn't feel right.

Handicapped shooter assistance
peejman replied to graycrait's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Sounds like he's in good hands. Holler if you need some help. -
I'm also a lefty and can do lots of things right handed. I carry a Kershaw flipper in my right back pocket all the time. The Kershaw is cheap, gets razor sharp, holds the edge well, I like the assisted opening, and I'm not out $100+ if I lose it. When the mood suits me, I'll carry my TGO Runt4 in my left front pocket. It's a killer knife, but it wasn't cheap and I am so I really don't want anything to happen to it. When wardrobe appropriate, I carry a moderately sized fixed blade on the left side of my belt.

We've got one round of green beans and snap peas and pulled the plants up. The cherry tomato is producing and the Cherokee purple has a couple ripe fruit. The other tomatoes aren't there yet. We've gotten a bunch of zucchini.... more than we expected as 2 of the plants were supposed to be cucumbers. Cucumbers V3.0 appear to be doing well but have a ways to go before we get any to eat. The okra is coming along, but those will also be a while yet. The carrots are taking forever. The plants look healthy but the carrots are still tiny. The bell peppers are doing well, except for the one my son smashed yesterday. The jalapeno is also doing well, haven't tried a pepper yet to see how hot they are.

Relax. Being all fidgety making sure your gun is concealed is a dead giveaway and makes people suspicious. Here's a good summary of the laws... http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/tennessee.pdf

According to this they'll be gone in a few months. Fill in the hole this winter and they shouldn't be back. You might also see if there's a local bee keeper's association. They might have some advice. http://www.honeybeesuite.com/how-to-move-a-bumble-bee-nest-2/ http://www.buzzaboutbees.net/bee-nest-removal-bumblebee.html

They snack on pets and small livestock, packs can take down cattle. They're known to attack unattended children. They can spread diseases. They breed prolifically amongst themselves and with dogs. They have no natural predators (wolves) here so they can decimate other game species (deer, turkeys, pheasant, ...). I'm fine with them out west where nature helps keep their numbers in check. It's a whole different game here.

Female carpenter bees and bumblebees can sting, however it takes real effort to piss them off enough for them to do so. They're both quite important in the grand scheme of pollinating all sorts of plants. There's no reason to kill bumblees at all, and carpenter bees only if they're boring holes in something of value.
-
I'd shoot them on sight, assuming discharge of a firearm is legal. TWRA might put some traps out if you complain enough.
-
Carpenter bees have a shiny black abdomen, bumblebees have a fuzzy yellow abdomen.

Sporting clays, maybe not so much. Skeet/trap, probably somewhat. But, I'm in the same boat as Caster... I stink at skeet/trap.

You could get it powder coated nearly any color.

You might think about reversing that. Lots of studies say more strength training and less cardio, especially as we get older (I'll be 40 in a few weeks). I do my own incarnation of interval training... strength training at a light cardio pace. I use light weights and various body-weight exercises. I do two sets of 6-10 different strength exercises with no more than 30 seconds rest between exercises. Meaning I do one set of all 10, then another set of all 10. That gets my heart rate up around 120, keeps it there for the duration, and I get a whole body workout. After that, depending on time/mood/motivation, I'll either do a 3rd set or 10-15 mins on a cardio machine (bike, elliptical, etc.) or nothing :ugh: . I like it because it's fairly quick (no more of this 2 hrs at the gym nonsense) and both my strength and cardio fitness have improved considerably. My rest heart rate is 55, down from about 80 when I started.

Wife got me some of this stuff. I rather like it. http://www.amazon.com/Wild-Willies-Beard-Butter-Ingredients/dp/B00TOVORO6

Agreed. Just thinking of the possibility of having to disconnect it and move it around whilst expeditioning.

Looks good to me. Key an eye on balance. If you put a tool box on the tongue, it looks like it'll be quite nose heavy.

What they said.... some sort of 2 part boat epoxy. It'd be best if you could rough up the surface of the aluminum. Media blasting would be the easiest, if you have access to a blaster. If not, scuff the surfaces with 120-240 grit sandpaper and the wipe it down with an acetone soaked rag. Think about some way to clamp the pieces together while the epoxy cures.

Congrats on the good cancer scan result! My employer added a rudimentary gym to the facility about a year ago. It's up on a mezzanine and it's hot this time of year, but the whole point of exercising is to sweat a little anyway, right? I used to go to the gym pretty regularly but got away from it when we moved. My workout now is more about maintaining a reasonable strength and cardio fitness level than being pretty, but I can tell that I look better for doing it. Having lost 12-14lbs as a result helps too.

I'm glad I don't need very many keys.
