  1. How big of a utility trailer do you have that's making the truck squat significantly?  Can you rearrange what's on the trailer so there's not quite so much tongue weight?  Would a weight distribution hitch work better?   As for jack stands, you'll have a hard time finding jack stands tall enough that won't be rated to WAY more than necessary.  Most will be rated at 3 tons, which means (theoretically) you could sit the entire truck on one of them.  Just chock the front tires so it can't roll either direction.
  2. My smoker is very simple... it's one of the cheap Brinkman smoker grills.  With a couple simple modifications, it works quite well.  I also use lump charcoal.... big brown bag, Cowboy brand I think.  It burns noticeably hotter and lasts longer than traditional (Kingsford) briquettes.  Whatever you do, don't use the "match light" charcoal unless you like food that smells like kerosene.  :yuck:   I soak fist sized hunks of wood in water for a day or two prior to cooking and put them on the coals for the smoke.  I've used pecan, apple, hickory, cherry, poplar, maple, ....   So far, pecan is my favorite wood to use because it soaks up water quite well and hence lasts longer before burning up.  Cherry is my least favorite for the same reason... it's so dense it doesn't soak up much water at all and tends to burn instead of smoldering.  I've never been able to tell much difference in flavor from one wood to another.

    Shoehorn

I got a shoehorn with a pair of wingtips I bought many years ago.  The shoehorn certainly helps get them on since the sides are quite stiff, but once they're on, they're quite comfortable.    I suppose the "younger generation" can use a putty knife instead.  ;)
  4. Nope, he needs to make better hits. There's plenty of space where the human body can be perforated and keep right on rolling. There's a few spots where it'll stop pdq.
  5. Be aware that you're not allowed to transport untreated wood in or out of several TN counties due to the potential for spreading unwanted critters. http://www.dontmovefirewood.org/the-problem/state-state-information/tennessee.html The smell is the combination of the wood and the meat (typically pork) cooking.
  6.     I think you severely underestimate your fellow man.
  7.     Doesn't exist in the way you're thinking.  The text reads... "no religious test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."   SCOTUS has said... In sum, citizens are free to embrace or reject a faith, any support for religion - financial or physical - must be voluntary, and all religions are equal in the eyes of the law with no special preference or favoritism.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Separation_of_church_and_state_in_the_United_States         And yes, any legitimate source for this story?
  8. Sitting in the stand before the season can also help the deer get used to your presence.  Assuming it's on private property, leave some clothes or shoes or something up there.  Then your smell is normal.
  9. If there's any doubt what-so-ever, I wouldn't do it.  There's way too many unpleasant consequences.
  10. Cool jimping pattern!
  11. Simple Green and hot water.
  12. Did you even look at any threads in this subforum?
  13. Check your car insurance.  If road debris damaged it, some policies have zero or a very low deductible for windshield replacement.
  14. Wow.  Is the slide engraved to match?
  15. Agreed. I've just always found the traditional axe sheath a really ungainly two-handed operation. Like whoever came up with it never actually used one. I like your tethered snap-on blade cover with the handle through a simple hammer loop idea.
  16. Yep. Drill press, vice, several sharp bits, low rpm, very slow feed, cutting oil. Bit should be about 0.020-0.030" smaller diameter than the pin. Chuck way down on the bit so only 1/4" or so sticks out. It's less likely to flex and break. You want to thin wall the top portion of the pin enough so that you can collapse the pin enough to get purchase with needle nose. Let it cool before yanking it out. A slide hammer might help break it loose. Masking tape around the area will help prevent idiot marks. If you know a really good welder, he/she might be able to tack a rod to the pin and pull it out. Just striking the arc will cause the pin to shrink a little and loosen up.
  17. I was thinking the same thing.... The round hit the berm so why the dq?
  18. Nice. GJ is quite the craftsman.
  19. The joy of buying a holster. Unfortunately everyone is different so unless you know someone who would loan you theirs, you're just gonna have to try one. That said, I have a crossbreed supertuck and am happy with it.
  20. Kydex with those high-end tomahawks. That's probably where I saw that. I wonder if you could do it with Velcro along the bottom? Pull the handle rearward and down and the bottom corner of the blade would pull through the Velcro.
  21. Yes. Makes the gun function with blanks. Creates backpressure in the barrel so the gas system will function.
  22. We'll get the shot. We usually wait another month or so as flu reason rarely gets rolling here before January.
