  1. The PPU stuff is good, most any of it is fine.  Mostly it depends on the condition of the rifle.  My K31 is really nice and I'd be somewhat hesitant to run nasty ammo through it, but I don't think they make anything particularly bad in 7.5 Swiss.  The Wolf in 7.5 Swiss is supposed to be a higher grade than the bulk stuff for AK's and such.  GP11 is (reported to be) match grade and I know the rifle is more accurate than I am.    On the other hand, my M48 is less than pristine so I don't mind running the corrosive milsurp stuff.   You'll just have to find what you can and see what the rifles like.
  2.     Also handy for making friends with the hall director so that certain other things occasionally go unnoticed.   ;)
  3. Sorry for your loss.  Those are some nice heirlooms, I'd like find something like that 512.
  4. Now that I look, it would seem there's not much GP11 on the market anymore, which I find odd.  It's really good stuff.  Guess I'll be more protective of what I've got.  ;)  Looks to be similar for the surplus 8mm... not much out there.  Though honestly, I doubt you're going to want to run lots of rounds through the M48.  Its fun to shoot, but I'm typically done after about 10.    In the absence of that, you're left with the typical PPU, S&B, Wolf, and various hunting style offerings in either caliber.
  5. Chimney fires are no joke.  They'll burn your house down almost as fast as a dryer vent fire.    That said, I'm not sure how the fire could burn out of control unless the stove has a big air leak.  Most stoves I've seen have manually adjustable air inlet vents in the front and a damper for the flue.  Close the inlet vents and the fire gets little/no air so it dies out.  The flue damper can be adjusted to help limit air flow and try to prevent all the heat from going up the chimney.  A stiff breeze across the top of the chimney can increase the draft and literally suck the air out of the chimney, which can cause the stove to burn hotter than you might otherwise expect.  It all about balancing the air flow in/out.
  6. No alcohol in the dorms...       You desperately needs some mostly neekid girls on the walls.  It is a dorm after all.      I was also fortunate to have a dorm-mate not show and get the room to myself.  After that, I started making up weird reason of why I needed a single room.  It was nice.    You at WKU?  My S-I-L & B-I-L went there.
  7. The walmart here rarely has the big bags of seed.  I typically go to TSC for bird seed.  They almost always have the big bags, they also have the biggest bag of safflower seed I can find (10lb).  And it's an excuse to go to TSC, as I occasionally find other stuff I "need".  :)
  8. I'm not a UT fan but my wife is. Mostly I'm pissed because I was well on my way to getting lucky last night, and then they found a way to lose yet again. No nookie for me. Dammit.
  9. HA!
  10. Look at it real closely with a 10x magnifier and a good flashlight. It could be a seam but it's probably just a machining mark... dull tool and/or sloppy transition. If you can't decide visually, put some penetrating oil on it and let it sit for a bit. Wipe off the excess so it looks clean and dry. Then give it a few hours and see if any more oil has oozed out. You could also put a torch or heat gun to it and see if any bubbles or smoke appears.
  11. Are you concerned with that transition in the barrel?
  12. Bummer on the clutch. Hopefully you're on your way home by now. I wasn't too far from there about an hour ago. Glad at least one rider stopped, it's pretty crappy at how many ride on by.
  13. That's awesome!  Where'd you find it?   edit... here:  http://www.tiggerwelding.com/home.html
  14. Beautiful.  I'm gonna have to make a trip out there before too much longer.
  15. Cool setup strick. Was that for a particular promotion?
  16. The shape is entirely wrong, very difficult to defend an oval.  Plus with a 3 mile perimeter and 30 people, you'd only have one person about every 500 ft.  An area that big could probably support 500 people.
  17.     Yes, but how much of it do you believe?
  18. The 440 rd spam cans are about $100 these days. Being brass cased, I'd assume this would be worth a bit more. On second thought, that stuff is very dangerous. You should send it to me for immediate disposal. ;)
  19. Put a glob of 15 mi epoxy on a dowel. Stick it to the tip and let it cure. Once it's cured, squirt some penetrating oil in there and pull it out.
  20. As a former band geek, nice!
  21. Intersting indeed.
  22. Having seen your thread, google's not set up for sharing like that. You need a more purpose built photo hosting service like photobucket or smugmug.
  23. Yes. I've gotten that error too. The URL needs to end with jpg, gif, tiff, or other common photo extension. If you're doing "copy image location" straight out of the image search, try clicking "view image" and then copy the URL.
  24. I looked at it yesterday and it won't work as a rain barrel. While the axle is molded in, the support bar across the front isn't so it'll only hold about a foot of water in the bottom. I'm kinda liking the dry firewood storage idea.
  25. As far as getting loans goes, sometimes having fair/poor credit is better than having no credit. The only thing I've ever paid interest on is my house. While I'd loved to have paid cash for it, the idea of just writing a check for $150,000 or more is a bit tough to comprehend. The $50,000 check I wrote was painful enough. :)
