  1. There's some difference in taste, wild hogs have a bit stronger flavor, but it's nothing real dramatic. It's typically better, if anything IMO. I've never cleaned one, but have been told by a friend that the big difference is the smell when butchering. Wild hogs can have a really strong smell.
  2. Cool. Good to see an apex predator back.
  3. The $500 is worth every penny. The only semester I had a room mate I didn't already know, it was a guy we named slothoid. Whatever image pops into your head is too nice.
  4. Sorry for your loss. Treasure the heirlooms.
  5. Boy my boys have theirs as well. Inside the cover of the last magazine had a phone number to call to change/reduce the magazine subscriptions. The lady I talked to said it can be turned back on at any time.
  6. I also double up with muffs over plugs indoors.   The muffs I use are somewhat low profile, though not quite as thin as these.  They only get in the way a little with a couple of my rifles.  The NRR rating of 22 seems kinda low to me, particularly for shooting indoors.
  7. Cool idea.  I'd like to hear some first hand reviews.          Easy, when you've already removed it from the belt holster and put it in the console holster, door pocket, etc.  Drawing from most any sort of on-body concealment while buckled into a car is a PITA.
  8.     Amen.  I can't fathom just standing there and taking it.   F that.  You might get me, but I'm not gonna make it easy.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yid-CW-O9Qw             That's the law in TN.  Oregon may or may not have a similar law.
  9. Meh, we just filled empty Coke cans with beer and took them to class.
  10. If cost is a concern, check out the Defiant line of lights at Home Depot.  I've got one of the 3D lights and while it's big, output is huge.  100yds is no problem at all.  I think it was $30.  They've got a 3C version with slightly lower output would be a bit easier to carry around.
  11.     It is to me.  I use it as a photo vault.  I put any photo of consequence on there so it's backed up (on 4 different servers in 4 different cities) should my hard drive fail.  The service has reasonable security features, they make really good prints (calenders, cards, etc.), and it's pretty easy to use.  $40/yr is cheap insurance and WAY cheaper than data recovery from a failed drive. All the rest is a bonus to me.    20% off referral code (for you, me, and anyone else that's interested...)  https://secure.smugmug.com/signup?Coupon=VlcPcQWTe7dG6
  12. Smugmug also takes any size pic and provides a link to several different reduced size versions for posting... I can send anyone a smugmug discount code if interested.
  13.     Interesting that a company would form a policy in direct violation of state law, but there's miles of wiggle room there, particularly since it says "solely".    The Constitution grants rights, state laws do not (if anything, they infringe on them, but that's a whole 'nother discussion).   TN is an "at will" employment state.  You can be fired at any time for (almost) any reason.  Violate their tobacco policy and get fired for being 2 minutes late, or annoying your boss, or offending someone, or...    My guess is it would be on the plaintiff to prove that they were fired "solely" for personal time tobacco use.  I presume that would be quite difficult.
  14.   True, though the coroner's report states he died from injuries, not the fire.  The stupid thing he did was get in the car.
  15. If you're interested, I'll send you (or anyone else) a discount code to smugmug.
  16. ... as a condition of their employment, which isn't a right either.
  17. I sure hope that never sees a court room. The guy did something stupid and it cost him his life. Let it go already.
  18. Why self-driving cars?  Because that's easy compared to fixing the public transit system.
  19. Wow.  $2500 Euros ($2800 USD) for a fully functional M2.  Just wow.
  20.     What happens in the dorms, stays in the dorms.  ;)   Most of my fond memories (now nearly 20 years past) happened in the dorms.  Yes it's kinda sh!tty, but that's just part of it.  Makes you appreciate things a little more when you get out.    Lighten up, enjoy it while you can.

    My SKS

Looks nice!  No dust cover or sling?
  22.     The AK probably has the heaviest bolt/carrier while the AR is the lightest with the SKS in between.  It could be that there's more inertia when the assembly comes back into battery combined with perhaps tighter headspace than a typical AK.  Could be something to do with the design/weight of the firing pin or bolt being slightly more prone to sticking.  Could also be due to age of the platform and potentially heavily worn firing pins.
  23. The PPU stuff is good, most any of it is fine.  Mostly it depends on the condition of the rifle.  My K31 is really nice and I'd be somewhat hesitant to run nasty ammo through it, but I don't think they make anything particularly bad in 7.5 Swiss.  The Wolf in 7.5 Swiss is supposed to be a higher grade than the bulk stuff for AK's and such.  GP11 is (reported to be) match grade and I know the rifle is more accurate than I am.    On the other hand, my M48 is less than pristine so I don't mind running the corrosive milsurp stuff.   You'll just have to find what you can and see what the rifles like.
  24.     Also handy for making friends with the hall director so that certain other things occasionally go unnoticed.   ;)
