Glad you're ok.  That's why I don't raise the whole front of the car when I change the oil, only one wheel.  Car in park (or in gear if it's a stick) and parking brake set.  If I'm working on the brakes and can't set the parking brake, I chock the front wheels with a couple pieces of 4x6.    When I have to raise one whole end of the car, I put something thicker than me (like a wheel) under it so it'll hit that instead of me if it falls.    Why were you taking the whole oil pan off?  Does the Focus not have a drain plug?

Good luck fighting the 1st amendment at a school.  Unless the individual professors have policies about class attendance, there's little the university can do about it. 

I'd use my K31 if I get to go, which I seriously doubt at this point.  :-\

    If you were a Red Cross (or other such entity) certified instructor doing the classes for free, I bet they'd be willing to talk to you about it. 

Want school kids to learn it?  Get certified as an instructor and go teach them for free.  That's about the only way it'll happen in a school. The only formal instruction I had was in scouts.  Otherwise it was just the experience of watching Mom bandage me up repeatedly. 

Cool.  :up:   Your cleaning experience sounds like the first time I cleaned my yugo mauser.  I thought I was finally getting somewhere when the patches began to fade from diesel oil black to gray.  Then they started turning green.  I had quite a pile of dirty patches when it was finally clean.

I suspect you'd need enough thickness with wood that metal would be more economical.  Either way, it's gonna be expensive to build one.  You must be mindful of angles so that shot typically won't hit the barrier straight-on, and such that anything that hits it will be deflected in a safe direction.  Best choice might be to pick a few locations and build an earthen berm to sit it behind. 

Wow. Wish I had access to a place like that. My budget and time constraints wouldn't allow me to shoot a tremendous amount, but I'm sure dry fire exercises would be useful.

Looks nice.  I'm guessing the split design keeps the retention force from being too high?  Just looking at how the kydex is formed over every feature, and looks pretty deep over the trigger guard makes me think it would be really difficult to draw if it wasn't split.  I need to lean on my wife to carry more regularly. 

My wife and I have this running battle over watching the kids.  She think it's eyes on them, all the time.  I tend to me a little more... I can still hear them so they're around here somewhere....  I get dirty looks when I let our 7 yr old go to the bathroom by himself in restaurants ("it's right there, I can see the door from here...").  While I wouldn't have let one wander off unattended at a football game, stories like this make me think I'm a little too lax sometimes. 

Your Sunday was more fun than mine. I finished painting and caulking the trim around my garage. Then I split and stacked about 2 ricks of firewood. Then I climbed on the roof to try to fix a leak that showed up the last time it poured. Glad to have that stuff done, but I'm pooped.

Yes you can take photos of strangers without their permission in a public place. I don't think Walmart is considered a public place.

I guess I don't understand. I'm differentiating between the general consumer and the employees. I've been the employee who watched the big bosses get tons of stock and stock options (which I don't really understand either), then manipulate the books to overvalue the company, then cash out with their golden parachutes, and leave all the minions (me) stuck in a highly over leveraged company, with no capital to do anything with and stock holders who only want ROI. There's only so much blood you can squeeze from a rock.

Who says the "bosses" doesn't include the politicians Yes, they got rich by producing a product or providing a service. They get even more rich when they realize they can sell the whole thing for 3x what it's worth and walk away.

    Agreed.  The sheriff's job is to enforce the laws on the books.  It's the legislature's job to decide what laws go in the books.  Don't like the laws?  Change the legislature.    I guess this sends a message, but in the end accomplishes little more than a few lawyers pocketing some taxpayer money in the inevitable legal fight. 

Interesting.  I didn't know Cabela's was publicly held.  Seems somewhat typical of stock offerings with small-ish businesses that have been family run.  The IPO generates needed cash at that time, but being subject to the whimsy and absurdities of public trading tends not to go so well in the long run. 

    I just do what it says on the tag.  I enjoy landscaping and have planted lots of stuff over the years.  We did have particularly cold winters when these died... like 30+ days below freezing and temps below 10 deg several times.  But they'd been in the ground for a good 3 months before it got super cold.    The cold snap in the spring this year killed a tulip poplar tree in my yard.  It grew from a seedling I dug up at my parents house and was at least 5 yrs old and 15-20 ft tall.  It has just started to leaf out when the cold hit.  The trunk split from the ground up about 4 ft.  It'll likely be firewood before the end of the year.  :-\

I don't reload, but have used S&B ammo and had maybe 5 out of 100 not go off.  The primers clearly were struck and still didn't go off the 2nd time around.  This was 9mm and across at least 3 different pistols.
