  1. Good: seeing a couple practicing like that.  Bad:  she's crossing her feet when moving sideways instead of shuffling.
  2.     It'll be the best turkey you've ever had.  I smoke a whole turkey or turkey breast 3-4 times/yr.
  3. Good stuff there.  Especially them offering the training for free.   Someone posted this video of similar training in an office environment.  I can't find the source at the moment, but i thought it was pretty well done.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2tIeRUbRHw&app=desktop
  4.     While I'm certain the margin on defense ammo is significantly higher than plinking ammo, manufacturers also spend millions developing the details of the bullet and even more millions on the manufacturing processes to make them.  Defensive ammo isn't made on 50 year old machinery that's long since paid for.  All that gets rolled into the cost of the product.    As for the .308 vs .338 cost difference.... volume.  Economies of scale.  They probably make 1000x more .308 cartridges than .338.  The .338 uses larger brass and more powder, both of which add to the cost.    The machinery making .308 ammo runs 24/7/365.  It never stops unless something goes wrong.  The machinery making .338 ammo also makes .416, .444, and a whole host of other "boutique" calibers.  It stops and starts all the time, tooling has to be changed out, machines adjusted and reset for each different caliber.  All that takes lots of time (unproductive time) and people to do it, which costs money.  All that cost gets rolled into the price of the ammo.
  5.     I've read that about basically any poultry.... don't rinse it.  All you're doing is splattering the bacteria all over you and your kitchen.      As for leaving the deer hanging for a while... sounds like the same thing as "aged" beef.  And it's not like you're gonna eat it raw, it gets cooked so it seems like it would have to be literally rotting before it would be too far gone to eat.  Though I can see that a professional processor wouldn't want to mess with it just for fear of liability.
  6.         Meh.  She ain't all that.  And she dated Beiber.  That alone exempts her of all credibility for anything forever.
  7. I saw that too.  Never heard of him before that, but was neat to see.  Loved how he picked on Irvine for being so short.  :D
  8. If it's not a nuisance animal that's eating your chickens or something, I'd leave them be.  Foxes are voracious predators when it comes to mice, moles, snakes, chipmunks, etc.
  9. In.    Best Christmas movie for grown-ups.
  10. Stop by sometime, I'll let you try out our monkeys....
  11. I got gipped!!!! I got a Chevy truck commercial. Very well stated in the video.
  12. We've got a handful of fish, in addition to the world's most useless hound dog.
  13.     Not counterpoint, illustration of my sarcasm.  ;)
  14. I can see several side to the issues as well.   Some hunters want that monster trophy, some just want meat in the freezer, some want to eradicate them from an area, ....   Obviously those can be conflicting goals, even more so on adjacent properties, so I can see the difficulty (impossibility) of keeping everyone happy.    One friend hunts mostly public land and wants to fill his freezer.  He shoots anything he can.  He figures if he doesn't take it, someone else will.  He took a spike and a tiny doe (we called it an embryo) this year.    Another friend hunts mostly private land.  He like the meat but would rather take one big one than 3 small ones, so he tends to let smaller deer walk.  His neighbor, on the other hand, kills anything that walks past.  So he gets kinda peeved when he lets a modest deer walk only to hear a shot an hour later.   My parents have a nuisance permit and just want them gone so their flowers/garden has a chance to survive.
  15.     If the burglar, when confronted while still in the house, were to affirm that his only intention is to steal stuff, and he presents no other viable or potential threat to life or limb.... then yes, I'd say he wasn't an imminent threat.    And yes, karma's a bitch, stupid hurts, and so on...  but that's a pretty sucky way to go.
  16. I've tried that push/pull idea and my accuracy went completely out the window.  I found better results with the "point the thumbs"  technique which keeps the wrists flat and in-line with the forearm.    http://www.luckygunner.com/lounge/how-to-shoot-small-pistols-better/
  17. 75% of the people wouldn't notice if you were on fire. 75% of those who notice won't do anything about it. Printing is only an issue in states that require concealment. I was at a popular area of the Smoky Mtns park a while back. There was a guy walking around wearing a not very loose fitting smith & wesson t-shirt. It was covering, but certainly not concealing, the pistol on his hip. I was able to observe for nearly an hour... no one appeared to notice.
  18. If she's having trouble limp wristing an LC9s, you need to get her a racquet ball to squeeze and strengthen her grip. An LCP will be worse in that regard, if anything. Though $200 is a darn friendly price.
  19. I'm told the reason TWRA reduced the limit on bucks to 1 in some areas was to try to let them grow bigger so there will be more "trophy" size animals in the future.  Places known for huge bucks like Ohio and Minnesota have only allowed 1 to be taken for a long time.  So the smaller bucks get to walk in the hope that a behemoth will appear.  That spike who gets a pass 2 or 3 times becomes the behemoth and TWRA starts selling more out-of-state hunting licenses.
  20. Have one of the guys here make you one.
  21. Other than just appearance, the only way I know to judge age is the size of the base of the antlers.
  22. Not enough room under the seat of my SUV either.
  23. Welcome!
  24.     I work with a guy that desperately needs to figure this out. Complain about the small deer, but shoot them anyway?  How are they supposed to get bigger if you kill them?  :ugh:
