  1. They're out there, they vote, and they reproduce.
  2. http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/florida.pdf
  3. I use clear plastic totes. I like clear so I can see what's in there.  They're in my house, so there's no real need to keep them sealed up against moisture.  If I was really paranoid, I'd put a couple little desiccant packs in there.  If you've got kids, that's something you need to consider as well.    That's unloaded mags.  The loaded mags stay in the safe.
  4. I don't see spending the $25 when a little time with a file would return it to service.  I'd probably file it off flat.
  5. Sounds like it was as expected... a preach to the choir session.  I like the idea, but the people who need to hear that message weren't there.  It would be great to see the community band together and do some real good, so Rogero can take credit for it.
  6. Glad it was fairly benign.  As per Dolomite's advice, I'd clean the truck really well too.
  7. Mine is too full to be cluttered. It's quite the geometry problem fitting 11 (plus mags) in a cabinet made for 8. ;)
  8. Draw this thing out, measure stuff, and get the interior all laid out and thought through before you dig a footer.  That'll take a while, but it'll be worth it.     If you're planning on a lift, welder, big air compressor, etc...  have a stand alone 200 amp, 240V 3 phase service.   Wifi or ethernet   Hot water, toilet, big utility sink, floor drains.   Beam for hoist.   Skylights.  Exhaust fan.  LOTS of interior lights (think paint booth).  Drive-thru doors as big as you can afford (think RV).  Air lines and power lines run all the way around.    Look into the professionally applied commercial grade epoxy floor coatings.  The hardware store stuff isn't durable enough.    Spray foam insulation is much more efficient but pricey.
  9. 28/30.  Missed the Crockett gun and Chinese hand cannons.
  10. So did they think the race fuel was ethanol instead of gasoline?  Perhaps it was home distilled fuel?  Tragic indeed.
  11.     Stand there and watch people die.  Yep, that's what cops do all day, every day.  :shake:     I don't have anything against open carry.  I have issues with morons with feelings of inadequacy who get their rocks off trying be the next youtube hero by filming themselves "standing up to the man".  Their inability to carry on an intelligent conversation and immediately defaulting to butt hurt does nothing but work against what they claim their end game is.  I also have issues with this constant "us vs. them" attitude.  I refuse to accept the notion that the police are the Gestapo.  The majority are just people trying to do a pretty sucky job dealing with society's dregs for a pretty sucky paycheck.  I'll agree that there's certainly a few bad apples with a badge, but treating all of them like crap doesn't make anything better, it makes everything worse.   After that encounter, do you think that cop is more or less likely to hassle someone open carrying?  I bet he laughed his ass off when he walked away.  I'll bet he told all his cop buddies about it and I'll bet they all laughed too.   So while the OC'er may think he won, all he did was stir the pot.
  12. I don't disagree that cops should be held to a fairly high standard. However, I also think that our expectations for them to understand the nuances of a huge variety of laws that we ourselves have a hard time fully grasping is a bit much at times. Last I checked, cops don't get paid quite as much as lawyers, so expecting them to behave like one is a bit much. And you never know what that cop was doing 30 mins ago that might affect his/her attitude. It may have been decidedly more unpleasant than some nitwit trying to bait them into a mistake.
  13. So the OC'er should have asked the cop for his permit to carry? I'd guess the cop was wearing it on his jacket. Maybe if OC'er was wearing one of these on his jacket, the cop wouldn't have bothered him. If I've misunderstood the double standard to which you're referring, please elaborate.
  14. So since all cops open carry, all open carriers have the same authority and responsibility as cops?
  15.     Which is curious in that Hyundai and Kia are the same company.
  16. Yep, either here or there for a long gun.  Has to be done at an FFL there if a handgun.  Either way, call the FFL you intend to use first to prime them as to what you want to do and make sure they're good with it.
  17.     No argument, both were being dickheads.  But I still say that had the OC'er not defaulted to dickhead, the entire encounter might have been positive rather than negative.
  18. If I'm not going to make enough money at work that day to pay for the possible damage to the car, I stay home.
  19. Neat way to lock a door that any adult male could kick through in about 15 seconds.
  20. There's a lot of potential reasons why cop may have been obligated to investigate. We don't know that someone didn't call in a MWAG, or other such complaint. He may be under standing orders from his boss to always investigate anyone OC'ing. The OC'er may have see the cop first and been acting fidgety and nervous in preparation for his planned confrontation. ....
  21. Subaru. Super reliable, excellent crash test ratings, and available with a manual transmission.
  22. Which guns to buy? One of each, two of many, three of some.
  23. The only thing that beer is good for is cooking with. That said, I don't get the block of ice routine. They had to completely thaw it out to load it. I'd be more curious if it worked if they chilled it to -40 and heated it to 150 deg.
  24. Maybe he's more persuasive than you....

    SNOW!!

Just wet here.  Doesn't look like the temp will drop below freezing until this evening some time.            Been there, lived through that grind.  I decided fairly quickly that if I wasn't going to make enough money that day to repair the  damage my vehicle might incur trying to get there and back, I just stayed home.
