Anyone can go fast in a straight line. As we'd say when I road sport bikes.... I don't go that fast, I just don't slow down much either.

I'd like to get my hands on one of those and see how it feels. I'd really like to see one next to a G19, which is the only Glock I like.

My employer switched to UHC from Aetna 4-5 years ago. Aetna was actually pretty good. When issues came up (typically with billing), people on the phone were generally very helpful and actually able to do what needed to be done. UHC people, on the other hand, were typically clueless and had to be told, step by step, how to fix whatever the problem was. They've gotten better over the past few years, but the improvement gets them to average at best. The biggest issue I've had is billing cycles. Most providers seem to be on a 30-45 day billing cycle, while UHC seems to be on a 60-90 day payment cycle. So basically, I end up getting bills in the mail for stuff UHC is supposed to have paid weeks prior. So you look up the claims on the web and UHC says they paid it. So you call the provider and they say no they haven't. Iterate ad nasuem. At the end of the day, I basically just ignore any bill I get from a provider that doesn't say something like 3rd or final notice or have a big red PAST DUE stamp on it. And I hate that.

Recommend some shooting drills for me

Wish I had access to a place where I could do stuff like that. It certainly sounds a lot more fun than perforating paper. -
Your president seems to think that $500k is middle income.... But I would say that singles under $75k and families under $150k would be considered typical middle income these days. Simply re-routing healthcare premiums to taxes would be seen as a huge tax increase by most people, and thus be completely uncacceptable to everyone who's not a Bernie Sanders supporter. They wouldn't get the idea that the money is simply going into a different bucket.

Which variant do you have? https://www.buymilsurp.com/sks-rifle-parts-accessories-sks-rifle-accessories-c-6_9.html http://www.ebay.com/itm/SKS-10-Round-Factory-Original-Fixed-Box-Magazine/281925046435?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D35217%26meid%3Ddda2bc07c5a04ee2a7585c08f14fcc13%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D320994790232

I have the reverse problem. I'm left handed, but have an astigmatism in my left eye that my contacts don't correct for, so I see better out of my right eye. I switched over to right handed several years ago, both handguns and rifles. I'll be honest and say I'm still a bit more comfortable holding both left handed, but I shoot just fine right handed. I also still have to close one eye or the other, I've never put the time into shooting with both eyes open to be able to do it comfortably. I don't have a particularly dominant eye so I typically see double if I don't close one eye.

Sounds like band parties in college. We used a big trash can, several bags of ice, one of the big cans of powdered gatoraid, and enough bottles of whatever everyone brought (admission was a fifth of something). Good times. The smell the next day while everyone sweated it out was always interesting.

Both the UK and Germany have tax rates of around 40% for the typical middle income earner. That would be a pretty steep hit for millions of people here (including me). You'd need an independent 3rd party to perform the CBA to get any sort of believable results as the healthcare folks would skew it their direction while .gov would certainly skew it their direction. UHC.... ugh. The plans may compare but the service isn't even close. UHC hasn't been completely terrible, but I'd call them 3rd tier at best.

So what you're saying is you're good with roughly doubling your income tax to fund it?

As I said above, Dad only had an epidural so he was awake. And because he's Dad, he was talking to the surgeon and asking him questions and such. At one point, the surgeon looked over the screen and said (very politely) "you're gonna have to shut up now, I'm busy. If you have questions, ask her. " :D When the surgeon told us that afterwards, I laughed and said he needs to mount a GoPro to his head and install a screen on the ceiling so his patients can watch the live feed. Dad said the creepiest part was them drilling holes and driving the pins in. He said they didn't just lightly tap, it was like driving a nail into hardwood.

Here's the guy who did Dad's knees.... http://www.healthgrades.com/physician/dr-william-matthews-x2plq

Also... anything you can do to improve the flexibility and particularly strength of the muscles will help with recovery. After a few therapy sessions, Dad made the comment that he had no idea how weak he'd gotten from not bending his knees much. And for reference, he'll be 70 in a couple months. I'm sure age has a big impact on recovery time. I remember that knee bender doodad. Funniest thing was watching Mom try to help Dad with his exercises. They fussed like an old married couple... :D

Dad is almost at the 1 yr mark from having his 2nd total knee, had the 1st one done the year before that. A few things I've learned... Incidence of stroke increases dramatically if both knees are done at the same time. They don't have a good reason why, but it does. It hurts. A lot. They load you up with the good pain meds during surgery and it takes about 24 hrs for them to fully wear off. So day 1 isn't too bad. Day 2, on the other hand... Dad did not have full anesthesia for either knee, epidural only. I think that got him out of the hospital at least 24 hrs faster than he otherwise would have. He was home within 24hrs for the 2nd one. The swelling takes a long time to go away. He still has some swelling 10 months later in the 2nd knee. Flexibility is difficult to improve, especially if you don't have much now. He was walking without the walker after a couple weeks. He used a cane for a while after that. Dad still does the "old man with bad knees waddle". I'm not sure if it's because he just doesn't have the flexibility, or it hurts, or it's how he walked for the prior 3 years so it's just normal to him. Dad got a gizmo similar to this from my sister who's also had a couple knee surgeries. While somewhat annoyingly loud, the not having to mess with ice packs is worth it. Dad's half deaf so he didn't care about the noise.

Agreed on the out-of-pocket expenses, per year. Hope you don't have major problem on Dec 30th. My sister had to have her appendix removed on Dec 30th. Some of the bills came before Jan 1 and some after, so the deductible and out-of-pocket max limits both got double-dipped. 3 days either way and it would have cost half as much. I do give some legitimacy to the benefits of the "negotiated rates". I don't know why they do it that way, but there are some benefits. When I had hernia surgery, there was a line item that was basically "incidentals" - $8000. The negotiated rate for that was something like $400. So that tells me that had an uninsured person had that procedure, they'd owe the full $8000 while I only had to pay $400. $7600 is several years worth of premiums. Something to think about.

Heh, I'm just the opposite. Anything without the standard FSB looks strange to me. The only gun I've ever sold was an AR with a railed gas block. Caster, a few years ago they finally made the 16" A4 config legal for NRA high power matches.

I've had good luck with the Defiant (store) brand at Home Depot. They had a couple on a really good sale around the holidays and I regret not getting them just because. http://www.homedepot.com/b/Tools-Hardware-Safety-Security-Flashlights-Accessories/Defiant/N-5yc1vZc24wZfw

I took my kids to a birthday party, did a little yard work, cleaned the aquarium, and cleaned the house. Cause that's what I really wanted to be doing. Really.

Why Isn't Anyone Discussing NJ Draconian Gun Laws
peejman replied to CJDore's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Because it's New Jersey and no one cares about New Jersey. -
Why do I never put my phone number in craigslist ads? Oh yeah....

Mine still says 12. If they'd had a big bottle, I'd certainly have gotten it, even without knowing about this.

I was referring to the mention of homosexuality. There's the theory that every thread here, regardless of initital topic, will eventually end up being about sexual preference. This one only took 9 posts. That's pretty fast. You should be proud. :)

I just picked up another bottle of Elijah Craig, I'll have to look at it and see what it says.
